I wasn't even aware you could get a 144hz monitor with DVI only and no HDMI or DP, out of curiousity what model is it?
So got to get a new monitor..
Even having hdmi doesn't mean it's a fully usable input. For example XL2411Z gets fhd@144Hz only on DVI.I wasn't even aware you could get a 144hz monitor with DVI only and no HDMI or DP, out of curiousity what model is it?

Considering a gpu upgrade and noticed that you don't see dvi ports anymore on the graphic cards. Want to use a monitor I own that has 144 hz through the dvi port but would it still work with a dvi to hdmi adapter cable?
Thanks

Problem is with HDMI spec could be limited to 60hz. You would need to look at gpu and monitor manuals to find out if it will do 144hz. You can do HDMI to DVI yes but the 144hz is part that likely not gonna happen.I'd think using a HDMI to DVI cable or adapter would be better suited for the OP no?
I think would need cable to support bandwidth to do it along with hdmi ports on both monitor and gpu that can as well but you are asking a lot but depends on age of the hardware.no you won't get 144hz over any of those, most of'em say max in 1080p@60 in the discription
you need an active adaptor, passthrough cables like those are all single link.

It is not.Problem is with HDMI spec could be limited to 60hz
That would be incorrect. Refresh rates of up to 240hz are supported by each of those cables and adapters linked. All but one can do 4k. I have personally tested this with all but the Benfei adapter.no you won't get 144hz over any of those, most of'em say max in 1080p@60 in the discription
you need an active adaptor, passthrough cables like those are all single link.

Don't quote me, but it seems unlikely that the RTX30xx series cards from ASUS will have DVI ports..ASUS thinks identically too, so we ended as soul mates, my next VGA card will be ASUS.

Pretty sure you can use HDMI to dvi cable and work just fine.Displayport and HDMI are rapidly becoming the only two ports you'll find on new monitors these days, so there's no need for DVI anymore. You'll need an adapter or a newer monitor that supports DP and HDMI if DVI is all you have.
