id like to see ebay ban these off their site along with other similar sites. the fact that you can get a load of money from doing it is what's keeping it going, if you kill the ability to make that money then it will stop. ebay and other sites are enabling this.
Oh plz, ebay and other sites are not enabling anything, its called human greed.

Just go to the site and look at it. Simple. I'm talking about elkjøp not komplett.
Okay, so it's Elkjøp's predicted date. Fair enough. That doesn't mean all of Norway gets the procs at that exact date.

We are talking about confirmed stock availability. Not what's coming due to pre-orders.
What differentiates these orders from normal orders? The product is officially launched, so they're not pre-orders. They're just on backorder and out of stock. That is not the same as a pre-order.
If the demand wasn't as high, there would be stock.
Still don't understand what significance the 25th of January holds. On that date, does Nvidia think there suddenly will be general availability outpacing the demand? I just don't see what is 'changing' on that date compared to now. That's where my confusion lies.

Why do you guys care so much about it?
Its not like its a life and death situation to get an rtx3000 or a ryzen5000, now.
Fair enough, but remember all those "build me a system" or "what should I upgrade to" threads? People were waiting for these. And now they can't get one.

agreed, if intel, nvidia, AMD - required ebay/craigslist the main two players to wait 6 weeks before allowing sales of these chips on their site scalpers would hesitate much more.
There are resellers law that protect resellers from companies. Some companies require permission to resell items but most dont. 10 years ago I had permission from Chi to resell their flat irons but lost the permission 5 years ago. Those Chi flat irons where insane profit makers. I would sell 5-10 per day on ebay.
Oh gosh I sure miss those days.

Why do you say it is predicted by a store that will sell them and works with the companies that are producing the graphics cards? You and I can predict. If you've called the store like I did they would tell you the availability dates for the products based on he plan they have developed with the companies that make the cards and those working with NV. So if the store says the confirmed dates for availability is January or whatever, they are right. They know better than you and I.
There is a difference to have them in stock or not have them in stock instead if a card comes in to Komplett for instance, it doesn't end up in the stock of the store but is being sent to the customer next in line who has preordered it months ago. That's the difference.

They wont, they would lose out on their 10% commission that ebay gets from each sale. Ebay has to answer to shareholders. The same thing happened with the zen 2 lanuch. I sold many 3900x for $600 on reddit, I was the one who was able to find people to get me some extra 3900x's processors to resell, that lasted for 1 month. Its work to find people and good suppliers.

Exactly same situation in Czech Republic, maybe even worse in some cases. I always thought it's a "common" thing outside of US, most of the retailers can say it's just margins and get away with it.

I'm from Hungary and the distrubutor price of a 3090 (on which retailers could buy it to resell) is 2200$ ex.VAT. Let that sink a bit... Add 10% margin + the 27% VAT, and you get a whopping 3100$ for a 1500$ MSRP card. Merry Christmas!

We're entering the reality of "buy new hardware 2 years after launch" era...

I'm not saying that scalping is right, there will always be scalpers for anything. During the California gold rush 172 years ago, people sold shovels for many times the regular price to gold miners who wanted to strike it rich.
What people dont know is that is was the merchants selling supplies to the miners who made it rich, selling simple food and other supplies at huge profit margins.

I think the cryptoboom in late 2017 broke something in the market if PC gear. Now they all search the way back to those kinds of profits - from small scalpers and resellers to AIB partners and even major companies.

If I had the cash and wanted one that bad, I would just buy one whatever the price. It's human nature what the scalpers are doing, like it or not, greed is what drives our society and it's the cause of poverty in certain situations.

I can get single chiplet 5000 cpus here delivered within a day, only R9's have low stock, just like 3000 series R9's had limited stock for the first 3 months last year
People are exaggerating. Nvidias issue is they cant feed with anywhere near enough stock, AMD is on TSMC, they'll be able to keep up with demand, and eventually with R9 as well, it's just gonna take time for those as they likely again hoarding the good chiplets for high margin threadripper/server parts.

Doubt it, most of their wafers have to go to APUs for the consoles.

We'll see, but the fact i've been able to buy single chiplet 5000 since launch tells me this all just drama for the sake of drama because it's the topical click attractor after nvidia's botched samsung launch and lackluster following supply. (amd also bough extra freed apple 7nm allocation specifically for consoles)

I can't disagree with you on most of this, esp about the human nature part but there are ways to deter this too.
I do however disagree with just buying one no matter the price - That's what the scalpers want and as long as that goes on the scalping will continue.

No sales - No scalping profits - No problem.

I wouldn't say greed is what drives people buying form scalpers. I think scalpers are driven by greed.

I would not want to do it, but if there was none available elsewhere then i would, but yeah this is what they want and why they buy all the stock.

"human nature"? The homo sapien species lived 98% of its time on this planet as egalitarian hunter-gathers in semi-nomadic band societies without greed, hierarchy, leaders, etc, and that's literally mainstream anthropology 101. SO, if we're going to make snap judgements on what is and what isn't "human nature", I'll declare human nature to be how we behaved for 290,000 of our 300,000 years on this planet. That being said, these scalpers represent a very small minority trying to prey on people, and in order to have them stop, all we have to do is just stop buying from them and they'll go away.

So you were able to get a new Ryzen already, some people were able to get new Ampere cards already, but the situations are completely different. Did I get this right?

I'm saying they are available right now, you can get them in Europe readily available R5/R7, you're grasping at straws. R9 are indeed out of stock and they will keep on having low stock for a while.

Whilst there's points for most if not all comments here, although I agree mostly strongly with this one from @Bones

I already knew it was going to happen.
Saw it going on that very morning and said as much but as for me, not gonna worry about it because I've got what I need now and I'm OK.

Point:
As long as people are stupid enough the feed the swarm it will persist.
Don't by these scalped chips and there will be nothing for the swarm to feed upon.

You feed 'em, they'll be back for more - Guaranteed.

To me I'm never going to try rushing out and buying something at double the money it's meant to be sold for whatever the heck it is but the problem is that people selling these things through Ebay are just pumping up their profits and the scalpers aren't caring a thing because they are still making more money over and above what they should be.
But again, the last sentence in Bones's post, people want something that bad and they will pay for it, but they are only feeding the greed train more and more... Also the other issue you'll have from buying from scalpers is that, since they are the first person to own it, the warranties etc. sit with them so if anything did happen to the CPU/GPU you've just spent double the cash on, how is that going to feel to you when you need to return it? It's not going to work very well as you won't get very far...

Greed is an ugly thing and being daft enough to buy something at double the price is another thing altogether... The world we live in I'm afraid to say, has quite honestly turned to pooh... I don't recall things being this bad since all this issue with lockdowns etc... Might just be me, I'm getting old.....

I think the cryptoboom in late 2017 broke something in the market if PC gear. Now they all search the way back to those kinds of profits - from small scalpers and resellers to AIB partners and even major companies.

As I wrote, there ate no private scalpers here. You literally can't get it on MSRP as a retailer. I'd give the arm to see the whole chain. Very curious about where the "official" scalping is hapening. Is that our local distributor? Or are they getting a similarli inflated price from the central-european dispach? Does the central dispatch getting the inflated price from, the AIB partners as theye were written in some tech-conteos? Not that knowing it would change anything, but since there is a big f'ing questionmark between the AIBs and the local distributionn, you can't even stick it to anyone becasue they can just point fingers at eachother...
