OFFICIAL Cyberpunk 2077 Game Discussion

And, since collision boxes are glitchy as hell in this game on my next launch I noticed that the vehicle slowly moves pixel by pixel forward. So, I put an eraser on W key and some weight on top, made a cup of coffee, took a smoke break and by the time I came back my basilisk made it past the barrier and I did not have to replay that entire section. Thanks, Elder Scrolls block exploit )))
Had a similar thing happen when I was riding out to the dump for a sidequest. Got my bike stuck in a trash bag and would just inch forward a pixel at a time. Was holding W for probably 5 minutes because both the front and back tire had to make it all the way through before I was free. Of course I couldn't reverse out of it either. Wish I had thought of putting something on my keyboard at the time. Hindsight's 20/20 I guess...
TW3's soundtrack is really good, too. It really stands on its own, in some ways I wonder if Cyberpunk's will for me - mostly composition-wise.
Agreed, CDPR really did a great job with TW3's soundtrack. "Silver for Monsters...", "...Steel for Humans" and "Welcome, Imlerith" are three tracks off the top of my head that really stood out to me. Still narrowing down which ones those are from CP. "Isometric Air" by Quantum Lovers (Bryan Aspey) is a great one.
I swear, some of the best sounding stuff can be found buried in soundtracks, it's like a treasure trove.
Agreed. Not sure if you've heard of or watched Mr. Robot (originally aired on USA Network, can be streamed on Amazon Prime), but the soundtrack for that show (as well as the whole show itself - excellent plot, music, acting, cinematography, etc.) is awesome. The soundtrack for Ozark is another good one.

But wait, did you say The Glitch Mob? Yes dude. I can't believe that wasn't one of the first I thought of.
Haven't listened to them in quite a while but when you mentioned Clams Casino, TGM was the next artist I thought of. I'm sure if I dove back through my EDM playlist I could find some other suitable candidates as well.

I know you know what I'm talking about when it comes to the underground stuff bubbling up online, haha.
For sure dude. I had my middle school "emo" phase where I listened to a lot of metal, and then transitioned to EDM through late high school and early college years. Then I moved over to hip-hop and rap. I've always been a sucker for a heavy beat, so I can appreciate the catchiness and popularity of a lot of the mainstream hip-hop/rap tracks. It pisses me off though because the subject matter is often so redundant, the lyrics are meh, and it just gets so boring. The underground side of things actually has lyrical substance to it in addition to some solid beats and makes for a much more enjoyable listening experience.

At the moment I can't control V's insatiable lust for ass LOL

Seems every time I turn around she's hardcore pervin on butt
The team clearly spent some considerable time on this aspect of the game, which I think is admirable.

Oh sure, Cyberpunk is basically just asses. Right from the jump there are brightly colored, half exposed asses everywhere with billions of triangles in them. Girlbutts, dudebutts, robobutts... just alotta butts.

Some of the outfit combinations I seen of the NPCs in Night City had me either laughing or questioning if the NPC thought of their wardrobe choices.

Ok, only 7 achievements left, including one more ending.
Meanwhile, did Eurodyne's quest line while rocking my uber-legendary super-upgraded sword. Pics attached )))

My first thought, seeing people on the street for the first time was "Wow, almost everybody is homeless here."

And then I got to the city center and I realized that's just how people dress themselves in this game. TBF, clothes are expensive in Night City. There have been times where I myself couldn't find, let alone afford a matching set... not even with all of the money I made from killing two dozen people. I killed 24 total strangers and couldn't get one decent pair of clothes. So it's understandable - they haven't got a chance. Gotta wonder what the few well-dressed folks had to do to look like that...

So in this alternate future where we are doing cyborg mods to human body, someone stopped inventing tractors that could pick cotton with no manpower? and weavers/looms that automatically made the clothes? all of that gets lost in the future but advanced cybernetic implants survives. seems odd to me, but alright lol

I mean, we're talking about a world ravaged by industrial disasters, chemical weapons, unimaginable levels of pollution. Night city itself has acid rain like we have summer showers. And not just the regular kind, but like SUPER acid rain. It was supposed to be in the game... it is a major aspect of the lore. It's almost impossible to grow anything or raise livestock anywhere in the world and the whole process of producing and distributing the stuff is controlled by corpos. This is an America that at its absolute weakest moment, essentially handed the majority of the power over to them, because it was do that, or fail completely. So a lot of stuff that we enjoy in our economy is just not a thing for people in that world. Really, plain pure water is like $100 a gallon. Any kind of real meat is a delicacy. Not sure why cotton would be different.

Most of the food is synthetic or derived from insect/worm/petri-dish protein. Famines rocked the whole world, and only let up when the fully engineered food came in. After that, the farming industry no longer needed to produce it and became focused on fuel as per corpo demands - they wiped out the rest and control all of what gets produced by who. Fuel is probably more lucrative than cotton in a world full of machines anyway. Natural fibers are a luxury item, they're made to be that way on purpose. The synthetic stuff is made to be cheap and recyclable. This is why fashion is everything to people in that world. It's not just a symbol, it IS your status. Only the people really on the top can be decently dressed. Everyone else gets cheap, tacky synthetic stuff that's made to fall apart.

So like now, but exaggerated x100.

So nah, doesn't mean they can't produce fabric, but this whole world is build on the idea of corporations devouring everything to the point where everyone is literally either rich or poor. The rich can still afford clothes no matter how much the materials cost because they control everything. Everybody else lives among actual piles of garbage, just laying down mattresses wherever. And it's not like it's very different in most of the megabuilding apartments you see inside of.

Cybernetic implants are a whole nother deal. I wish the game got more into the whole transhumanist aspect that's already there in the lore. But you do have the cyberpsycho phenomenon to give hints. Or you could look right at Arasaka. Employees are granted cybernetics as part of employment, which are taken back upon either leaving or being terminated. Same thing happens to vets. That stuff ain't cheap. It gets around through smuggling, or by these sort of societal contracts and opportunities used by corperations as a way of holding people's very bodily autonomy over them. And even if you can afford them, you could always go insane and get gunned down by Militech. The price is steep, no matter how it goes.

That stuff is made widely available as another way of owning you. People often can't survive without them and to even get that stuff you gotta pay. Most people can't afford to go legit so go to shady rippers, or basically sell off another piece of their humanity. That leg, it's not YOUR leg. It belongs to Dynalar, Arasaka, or whoever you work for. And you need it to even work a lot of the time. Physical jobs are stupid dangerous and demanding. Organic bodies don't last in construction. And you think Kiroshi can't see what you see with those eyes if they want to? Shit, they have the power to make you blind, or see whatever they want you to. A central focus of the story is on technology that literally commodifies the human soul. In Cyberpunk's world, YOU are the product, mind, body, and spirit.

Cyberpunk, as a genre is always described as "High tech, low life." As in, all of the best technology in the world is primarily used to take advantage of as many people as possible, for the sakes of the few who manage to stay on top without being killed off. You don't get to have all of that. 99% of people live on scraps and fund the other 1% with their entire existence, if they can get away with that level of exploitation under the neon illusion and false notions of individuality.

that's a very well done explanation, thank you for taking the time to write it. it does make sense now the more I think about it.

Don't get me wrong, I still think the outfits you see on people look kinda dumb and I'm not entirely convinced that they look that way entirely for lore reasons. Yet it seems plausible to me. Kind of annoying actually. I have the curse of knowing some of the lore from the books. So I see it and I'm just like "Why do they... agh damnit, it makes sense."

I think from a player satisfaction standpoint, they coulda gone the other way and focused more on the cool side of the fashion. When you are playing the original TTGs, that is a huge defining part of your character. It affects how you play, and how things go for you. Kind of an "I get it but then I don't." sort of thing.

Honestly your explanation two posts above makes me want to play this game more than any marketing video from CD Projekt Red does lol

sounds freakin awesome to be honest. still waiting for like 6 months worth of patches before I jump in but yeah, looking forward to it.

I shouldn't say this but...

Plot twist: both the supposed dev rumor post and the announcement debunking it are true.

I don’t quite understand what you are saying?

Does this mean the current CyperPunk 2077 released in December might morph into a better game?

Nah, I mean CDPR themselves came out and said it wasn't true at all. I think we can still expect some major patch rollouts... supposed to be at some point this month and next month. So bugfixes are slated for well before June. They've talked about DLC early this year, something like Blood and Wine. But that's it. Everything else is a mystery. Who knows if that poster was really even a dev. I half believe that a pissed of dev would do this, but you never know. I also fully believe CDPR would deny it completely, without alluding to their actual plans. And that none of it reflects the actual reality. It's like a microcosm of what people figure happened with the whole production and marketing approach, but flipped in reverse.

That's a shame because this game is well into Beta territory to ever say it achieved Gold at any point was an outright lying or being generously optimistic. They really need to tune the driving physics and mechanics and dial them in. All the cars I've driven have the center or gravity placed somewhere out in front of the car, it's why they do that weird pendulum swing and doing feel right when moving around.

I hear you. It feels like a lot of stuff was cut in a hurry... like there are half missing gameplay features and perks that would only be useful if mechanics that were promised were there. And then there's non-lethal, which is actually meaningless. Just all sorts of little stuff that pops up if you play enough. Stuff that makes you tilt your head and go "Huuuuuhhhh?"

The police one bugs me the most. I know why they make them spawn like that - they don't have driving AI working. But man... I was literally doing one of the police assault jobs when I got shot by the police. After killing the last guy. I know for sure I didn't kill any innocents, and the whole fight was in the confines of the actual hostile zone. The last guy even shot first. But I was just close enough to the street that I guess I did a bad. Because they had me dead a second before his body hit the floor.

I feel like I can still thoroughly enjoy this game because I've been absolutely broken down by Bethesda (though I guess there was 76... which was a nope for me.) The things that are good about it are SO friggin good and I love it. But it's a total broken masterpiece.

Bugs, I expect to see fixed in a pretty reasonable timeframe. Little doubt. But content that wasn't already finished, I doubt. That stuff costs buku and the game is already out, sales are well past in. Now, what I CAN see is restoring cut stuff that was cut not so much because the heavy lifting wasn't done, but because it wasn't quite ready and they actually decided to fix it first. I don't think that's off the table. And who knows what they plan for DLC.

That really is the biggest flaw with this game IMO. For an open world game, it doesn't have a lot of strong gameplay content. More on par with your typical straightforward action adventure game. I mean, the main jobs themselves are 2/3rds story and fuck is that stuff good, but it feels like there's really only a few hours of actually doing stuff in there.

As a boob man, I felt most disappointed about this. I really felt like boobs are not accentuated enough in this game.

I did my first playthrough with a non-lethal mod on my Kiroshi, it only came in handy for some missions where they would give you more money if you didn't kill anyone.
For the A.I it's apparently part of the bugs as far as they are concerned, but it's coming from a board member, so ehhh:

I know right, that old chinese lady in her leather outfit not wearing undies should've given more saggy underboob for the fans

Come on bruh she's japanese "Wakako Okada"
Well i've finished about all the side jobs to offer I think, with the exception of buying all the available vehicles and Police stuff.
I'm like level 39 in Act 2 and i've only just started doing the main story, it's all a breeze so far even on on hard mode now lol.
