I have been trying to get a RTX 3000 card since Christmas. I have entered every Newegg shuffle for the past 3 weeks (when I found out about it) selecting any and every card between a 3060ti to a 3080, as long as the card is under $1000. I'm also doing the same thing for AMD 6000 cards. 15 shuffles so far, and still no damn luck

just get on a plane and come down here, the local centrecom has stock

I've had good experience with my setup - Aqua Computer ULTITUBE D5 PWM pump. Very quiet and a nice metal body, the res combo is also glass not plexi and it has a nice preinstalled filter. Glass/metal imo is hard to beat.

As for fittings EK Quantum Torque Black Nickel are very nice, and go with my XSPC black chrome 10k temp sensor, although I was tempted by the Optimus compression fittings when I bought my CPU block from them.

i cant wait for the hoses to arrive so i can start messing around with this stuff, this is my first custom water loop ever - and the last one i helped build was on a Q6600

So, updates

1. some of the fittings leaked, the 90 degree ones with rotating joins had dead washers inside
2. the straight fittings are from a different brand and dont like that hose, too easy to pull loose
3. still super educational, and now all new hose and fittings in easier to manage size ordered. within 2 weeks i'll be one of those snobs with a custom water 3090

Good news, even my old Z370 board get the Re-bar BIOS support LOL, Intel probably doesn't like it that now there is zero reason to upgrade from an 9900K to 10 or 11th gen.

Performance improvement is very noticeable in CP2077 too, something like 10-15% with 4K RT Ultra, sweet lord.
AC Valhalla only get about 5% improvement from Re-Bar
Testing other games now...

ReBAR confirmed for X299 too.

Did not run any of the supported games yet to see if there is a big difference. Funny how Inno3D just linked to the Nvidia update tool and it has overwritten the subvendor back to Nvidia.
Don't mind the low clocks, its in mining efficiency mode.

I cant seem to get the msi live update to update my ventus bios... did you guys have any issues with it?

I just used the Asus .exe flashing tool, too lazy to use the nvflash even though I have used it extensively before .
You can use Nvflash if the MSI live update give you some problem

Wasn't yours a reference pcb as well? If you are brave and have an emergency backup card for reflashing the old bios you could try nvidias tool for the reference parts.
I got it from Inno3D and it worked for my card and our pcbs are the same.

But that is just a bad idea, don't brick your card (Still the tool does scan for compatibilty according to nvidia)

reference isnt founders so i'd rather not - and i dont want to get the wrong fan speed curve from a different card

Yeah, I don't have a founders either. Its just an updater for your card and seems to work on reference pcbs, not just founders ones.

It was a nightmare to clean all that mess

On air Temps when playing games were 60c and VRAM 76c
On Water, ambient temp 25c, card in idle sits at 25c, after 5 hours playing games, temp 37c and VRAM 50c.

I did a mistake, i thought that i could reinstall the original Backplate and i was wrong ( and i didn't ordered one from EKWB ) but lucky me the GPU Block cools the VRAM

i am wondering how much the VRAMs temp would decrease if i add the Backplate? it decreased 27c just with the GPU block.

on 3080 you should get upto a 10C drop, if theres airflow over whatever backplate you have there

Oh semi related, i showed my son UV reactive dye in the test loop (using to leak test before the blocks arrive)

I'm thinking about a single 280mm for CPU and GPU here, with eco mode set to 87W or so i think it'd be fine tbh

I know that what i built is overkill and a single 480mm would be enough but poor case was so empty.
A good thing is that the Fans 10x 120m and 3x 140 are inaudible and the water loop temp is 28c and 32c when playing games.

You ain't beating anything with tiny bit of rad. Look at his amount of radage again and they look to be HWL too.

Nice job, looks like it came together well. And for the record it's ALWAYS better to have more rad surface area than just enough.

TBF i wanted to get a slim 360 but got that 280 rad, pump and res for $100 (with vardar fans) second hand so screw it, the extra rad can wait
