Today I've pull a trigger on the new hardware.
5800x and a Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite and I got those for a very nice price.
Does anyone have Aorus Elite board? I've seen some reviews and it's a very decent board.
Anything from Gigabyte owners to share?

Nice! Gigabyte......well, their quirks can take some getting used to. Had their B450 ITX and now their B550 ITX and there's always a couple of issues that are kinda universal across most of their boards of a given generation. Hard to find boards that more physically solid, though.

On the B550s and X570s the one that stands out to me would be the Bluetooth bug on boards that have AX200 Wifi/BT, think I've seen it on my board, the Pros, Elites and possibly Masters. Sometimes ya log in and find that your BT devices don't work because settings says "Bluetooth is turned off" and there's no switch to turn it on, and the BT module throws a code in Device Manager. Easy fix, just shut down, unplug from the wall, press the power button once, and plug in and turn back on again.

That, and if you see options magically start disappearing from your BIOS (AMD OC menu for me, on earlier BIOSes), just flash another BIOS version. Don't flash the same version. Careful with that though, doesn't look like the Elite has flashback.

Oh, and pretty much all GB boards have a software-visible VDIMM sensor, but it's always higher than what you set in BIOS by about 0.03-0.06V depending on board. It's up to you which number to trust.

I hear the Aorus elite is a good board. been thinking about WiFi and Bluetooth but I really have no use for those so why bother and pay more.

To be honest with you I got everything covered already. Although I did get an Samsung 970 evo plus NVMe M.2 500GB with the purchase. Just wanted to kick things up a notch since I got the older 250GB 970 evo M.2 at the moment. The WiFi and Bluetooth just don't speak to me. I sincerely would have no use for those.
I only hope, My liquid cooling for the CPU will be able to keep up with the 5800x. It does well with my current 2700x.
I'm really excited to compare the 2 CPUs and the 6900xt and see with my own eyes, how huge of a difference will it be.

You would be surprised how hot the 5800x gets. It will basically squeeze performqnce until it gets very hot.

They get hotter than other Ryzen CPUs but I doubt it will reach 90c

I'm using a 240 AIO and it can easily get to 90C Out of the box. I highly doubt that it will happen with yours but I wouldn't be surprised if it does.

X570 Aorus Elite here, nothing to complain about apart from limited fan connectors but that isn't really an issue for me since my case came with a fan hub. I haven't updated to most recent bioses and I'm running 3700x so can't really say how it performs when paired with 5800x.

my 2700x has never seen 90c temp even with a wraith air cooler. With this liquid cooler, the temp never went more than up to 70c multi thread benchmark full load for quite a while. I really have doubts the 5800x will go to 90c and thus make it thermal throttle but nevertheless I will check it out.

easily can go 90c but you highly doubt it will happen to mine? Not sure what you are trying to say here. Is yours exceptionally bad with thermals?

Your 2700x is NOT a 5800x. 5800x is one CCX and all that heat is more condensed. Friend of mine was hitting 90c, stock settings, with a Mugen 5 even and that's not a slouch of a cooler.

Also I'd love to see your 2700x hit 4.8ghz on stock, because that's what I've seen 5800x's hit easily. Much more heat and power going through.

I'm reading this
the 5800x has reached 73c temp full load MT with a LC 240. That is why it is hard for me to believe what you guys are saying.
TPU's 5800x review topped the CPU temp at 75c with NH-U14S.

Are the CPUs that much different one from the other?

They are much, much different. Either way it's going to run hot but you'll get those boost clocks.

Well I got mobo but no CPU yet. I will definitely check how my 5800x thermals look like and post something here.
I'm really curious now :)

Dunno, my 5800X runs at about 83c max and I have a Le Grand Macho RT. Might be the difference between reviewer's early samples and a newer chip, which doesn't have to push as hard for the same clocks.

Pretty sure silicon lotto comes into play at some point. Could be board difference too. I digress.

I have Le Grand Macho RT as well, and used a TY-143 on it.. worked great, and by great I mean awesome. If you don’t have anything against AliExpress and have a few bucks.. you should check out FC140.. it is much better than my LGMRT and TS140P. The fans are pretty nice too. Build quality is excellent as usual.. my only gripe with it is I swap ram frequently and to do that I have to pull my gpu to get the clip free. Unlike LGMRT where I could just reach in and do my thing..

I hear the Aorus elite is a good board. been thinking about WiFi and Bluetooth but I really have no use for those so why bother and pay more.

It is a good fit for most people's use cases.

It's not like you won't have the PCIe slots for a $30 wifi card, so that's honestly a better option than dealing with the BT bug. It's just a Gigabyte thing - I've had no issues on my main Asus board with AX200.

I'm reading this
the 5800x has reached 73c temp full load MT with a LC 240. That is why it is hard for me to believe what you guys are saying.
TPU's 5800x review topped the CPU temp at 75c with NH-U14S.

Are the CPUs that much different one from the other?
Dunno, my 5800X runs at about 83c max and I have a Le Grand Macho RT. Might be the difference between reviewer's early samples and a newer chip, which doesn't have to push as hard for the same clocks.

Probably no one's wrong, Zen 3 temps seem to vary wildly from app to app or game to game, more so than its predecessors. I doubt you'll be exceeding 80C on water (still warm in the context of most other CPUs, but not 90)

TPU reviews (and Linus I think) just use a Blender render, it's supposed to be more indicative of "real world" MT test but certainly isn't always the hottest a CPU can get.

I suspect there's some variance in thermal contact between the CCD and IHS as well. If you look at CCD temps on 5900X/5950X during all-core, some run CCD1 cooler while others run CCD2 cooler, while some have pretty big deltas between the two.
