Perhaps we can find you an equiv bios or you can mod the existing 1
Whatever we do, we need to make sure that Windows still recognizes the card as W2100. So no morphing it into an equivalent gaming card. Backstory: I'm in a personal contest with my buddy for highest percentage OC on any card, actual performance does not matter. He's got a Kepler Quadro K5000 at +79% already. Again, no big deal if this card explodes. I bought it on ebay for $20 just for this purpose. Once clocked, it needs to run Folding@Home for like a month straight.

So far I was able to edit the original BIOS and get it to run at 1150MHz which is as far as the Afterburner slider will let me go so far. It used to be limited to 880MHz slider, and 680MHz is the stock frequency. I'm not too familiar with this VBE7 software so maybe I'm missing something that will help open it up.

I'm attaching pictures, the original BIOS, and the one I have modified.

Weird when I just put the card back into the machine, I turned it on, and...

The SLIDER in AB is now up to 1495. About to run some tests and see how far it will actually stabilize.

Contact issue? Maybe a minor glitch.

Here are all stock bios we have your specific card. 1 bios had UEFI GOP update.

I honestly think it was settings in Afterburner. When the slider showed up to 1495, it actually would not change at all. I went and started checking and unchecking the various boxes and just got it working right. Actually had to uncheck unofficial overclocking. I'm stable at 1300MHz so far in Unigine Valley. I'm going to keep pushing it until it crashes but I already exceeded my friend's +79% OC. I really want to hit +100%.

Edit:

Things are getting hot now that I'm over 1300MHz. Seeing 85C core so I'm going to strap on the water block. The little piece of aluminum stock cooler is crying.

Yup it was for sff/thin clients.

Yeah I had a problem where my pcie link wouldnt increase. It was a setting in AB advanced settings that did it.

It seems that for 3D workloads I can clock to about 1360MHz or so. For folding, it seems to like about 1250MHz or it eventually fails the work unit. The BIOS gave me some voltage control but only up to 1225mV. Under water it stays less than 30C at full load. I have not fully tested the VRAM yet but I doubt it can do much since it is DDR3.

nowadays its not really useful cuz of no uefi support
Read just this page of the thread , Damric is just trying to beat a friend at an OC, card be damned IE it's £20 and not important so uefi means nothing to him.

still it probably takes 0 effort to make vbe not remove uefi
It takes zero effort to measure context too but,, anyway has the card ever had uefi it's pretty old.

The software is 8.5 years old, there were more non UEFI cards in use then, the first time I used it I lost UEFI support but back then it wasn't really an issue for me, I can understand why it might be more so today though.

It's stated in the first page you can only edit the legacy BIOS and not the UEFI one, a clear and simple explanation.
I look forward to the release of your VBIOS editor, make sure you add Nvidas GPU's from the 10 series and up at the same time

Beyond that, stop trolling this page. You can use the tool or you can keep UEFI but crap talking a tool posted in 2013 is beyond ridiculous.

Appreciate posts are a bit old here but you can mod your BIOS and then UEFI support back in after... My R9 270 has been OC'd, Undervolted, and UEFI added. All good and stable.

Q: I could REALLY do with changing the ID from 6811 to 6810 (270x). It has same number of cores and clocks so no issue there but I do not want to cross flash a 270x rom as that means it expects more PCIE connectors and board only has a single 6 pin. Before anyone says WHY? So its fully compatible without hacks for MacOS use!

Kinda a necro post, but I wanted to paste in something I pointed out on another forum:

"EDIT: VBE7 will remove the UEFI from the BIOS.....so use this to put it back:

https://www.win-raid.com/t892f16-AMD-and-Nvidia-GOP-update-No-requests-DIY.html

On some GCN 1.0 cards I end up removing the UEFI from the BIOS using HD7xxx Series UEFI Patch Tool BETA.exe which can be found in the TPU thread about VBE7, then I make my edits with VBE7, then I run the UEFI tool to put latest UEFI in the BIOS, then I flash!"

For a long time - probably a decade or more - that fix wasn't known about or cared about since OS's didn't need UEFI support

It's still best for the original stock BIOS to be reflashed, almost none of those cards with these issues will have the factory BIOS at this stage with the mining craze making them so valuable for so long

Unfortunately, it doesn't work on my FirePro w5000 either :(. Since it's UEFI vbios I tried everything I can to modify it but when I use the modded bios nothing changed. I did use the UEFI patch tool but still doesn't work...

I googled for info on this and all I found was your FUD about UEFI. The problem is NOTHING TO DO WITH UEFI

Without UEFI and taking a stock BIOS and only changing the Overdrive limits (for example) you can flash a new BIOS to this card but the limits remain the same in Afterburner (even after enabling extended limits). I also experimented with changing voltage, core/mem clocks in BIOS and whilst GPU-Z saw the numbers applications indicate they did not change.

I suspect its as simple as "although VBE7 recognises BIOS and creates a valid tweaked BIOS, the limits etc are hardwired somewhere else in the BIOS"

Which is sad cos memory easily hits the "max" 1040MHz (so will go higher) and it is obvious the core clock is limited by the 990mV voltage (mine also stable at 900MHz, runs 925Mhz but Heaven locks up). Similar Pitcairn cards use 1.15V and core around 1150MHz so IF BIOS could be modded this card could be boosted nicely.

The BIOS modding tools only modded the legacy/CSM part of the BIOS and disabled the UEFI part - that's why it doesn't work with UEFI mode.

It's a two-part BIOS, and the editors can only alter one of them.

I was completely aware of that... and if you read my post, I tested modding bios WITHOUT uefi and it doesnt work for FirePro cards for some reason. Hence my comments to previous poster that the issue is nothing to do with VBE7 not working with UEFI.

(and yes I am aware you can re-enable UEFI after if you want with GOPupdater tools but no point when modding doesnt work)

I was just clarifying when UEFI is relevant to the situation, not explaining what's happening with yours
