Haven't you learned by now? Efficiency only matters when AMD is behind Intel/Nvidia, otherwise it does not.
But the 3d IS behind in the graph he posted. It scores 50% on cinebench for 30% more watts. Hello, do you know what efficiency is?

Not exactly. 12700K:

Worse power draw.
Worse heat output.
Worse total platform cost
Worst gaming performance.
Better productivity performance
Better platform

Ok sure if you play CPU benchmarks you're on to a winner with the Intel pardon me.
What worse power draw dude, your own freaking graph shows that the 12700 is more efficient!
The 12700f costs 320 euros, crucifies the 3d in everything, on a better / newer platform with more features and more upgradability while it only loses to 240p gaming by 5%. And for that 5% you have to pay 450 euros. Thats how much the 12700f paired with a mobo costs. LOL?

You showed the power consumption from CB23. You're playing benchmarks, not me.

Thats not the funny part. The funny part is he showed a graph where the 5800x3d is highly inefficient and then self proclaims it the efficiency king. Like wtf is going on with posters iq nowadays?

To sum up:
For absolute gaming performance 5800X3D or 12900KS. The budget is the limit - both cpus are 100% the best in gaming but it's meaningless to buy either of them for anything else. The 5800X3D is mediocre at productivity while the 12900KS is ridiculously more expensive against the 12900K.
For compromised, even slightly, gaming and productivity....all the other cpus.

The 12700K and 5900X are the best all around high end cpus.

I dont care about some other post. Im talking about that one he showed. We agree that in that one the 3d is highly inefficient compared to the 12700 and therefore the poster was absolutely wrong? Answer that and then ill check post 293,deal?

From my point of view, you either go for the crown, which means 12900k / ks with a hynix ddr5 kit, or you go for the value which is a 12700f with a b660. The combo costs as much as the 5800X3D alone and loses 5% fps in 240p gaming with a 3090ti, while it absolutely slaughters the 3d in everything else.

The 3d needs a huge pricedrop, with the current pricing only swore amd fanboys will buy it

If you are not going to answer my question im not addressing yours. That was the deal. I know it pains you to admit the 3d was inefficient as fuck in that graph but hey, whatnyou gonna do

Your use case matters. No need for fanboy wars. Depends if you're already on am4, mainly what you use it for!

In my case, only got 60hz screen at 1080p, so probably irrelevant what CPU I have...

Do have a b350 still on Zen 1 and now ASUS released bios for Zen 3, will bother to upgrade, eventually, when a bit cheaper eventually.

Probably not to 5800x3d. Maybe 5900 if cheap enough.

Why wouldn't somebody who has an older CPU on the AM4 platform just grab a 5700x for $299? PBO/CO that MoFo and call it a day.

You could even take the $150 saved over the X3D and grab a good B550 board and get PCIE4. I mean if you need the fastest gaming CPU, what the F are you doing on a older board?

Did the 5800x suck that bad as a gaming CPU that we need this? (I know the answer is that it didn't)

Doesn't the CryptoNight algorithm mine well with CPUs that have a ton of cache?

This chip has excellent perf/watt in games. It seems to be more efficient than anything AMD or Intel currently have on offer:

It is impressive indeed, but keep in mind they used 4400 ddr5 on intel. That's literally the worst ddr5 kit you can buy. Imagine the pitchforks if they used 2133c19 for the 5800x3d

On the other hand, that pic shows power consumption, not efficiency, so better RAM wouldn't have helped there.

There will be pitchforks either way. Use same DDR4 for both and they won't get the best out of Alder. Use fast DDR5 and it will cost much more.

But going for slow DDR5 is the worst alternative lol.

Well power draw is irrelevant, efficiency is what matters, so in that sense faster ram would help in the efficiency department

Yeah, they basically used both the slowest snd the most expensive ram, lol

Yea I have to agree with this. This was suspect to me when the hype train came hard about 6 months ago. The performance over the 5800 was overall not earth shattering in gaming while it got gimped doing production. The 5800X got nailed by the 5600 during launch as it was far cheaper to go the 5600 in gaming than buying a 5800X The 5600 sold extremely well so I can see AMD making this a gimmick CPU.

More and more I believe that this was done to remove flawed product that did not pass the grade as well as overstock they have on hand.

For myself it is not worth the price that they are asking for. Save your money and look at other options.
