I am using a 4K 3840x2160 as my primary display resolution.
I see that this 3840x2160, together with 2560x1440 are on the rise in the Steam Hardware Survey, while 1920x1080 is on the decline.

1080p desktop resolution on 2 computers, 2160p gaming resolution on primary computer. If i use 4k desktop the icons go all wonky and if I reboot with a 4k desktop the icons all disappear.

Go windows!

Changing the resolution and scaling on a desktop for the first time always changes the location of the icons.
Once you arrange them as wanted, they stay and behave normally.

I haven't experienced any issues with the desktop icons while changing the scaling or resolution.

Actually just noticed the wonky icons are gone everything looks normal on 4k with 200% scaling now except 1080p only gui's like the nvidia control panel which looks tiny in 4k.

3840x1080 as I have 2x 1080p monitors. But for gaming, 1080p with both on my main and HTPC systems. I'll get a 4K monitor next.

1080p for me. I am still an old relic using 17.3" laptop display and 24" external display with native 1080p on both.

This is more like 1920x1080, too... Or 2560x1440, you choose.

Uhm, not really. Ultrawide resolutions like this are in a different ballpark than FHD or QHD. You're horizontally stretching things but keeping the other side fixed there. So it's technically neither one of them, but it's closer to FHD than QHD.

Personally I like to call it FHD Ultrawide but the performance hit is between 1920x1080 and 2560x1440, my general rule and experience is ~10 FPS less than FHD.

Yes, the pixel density on the display is the same as if 1920x1080.

Isn't it time to upgrade? Almost all new TVs in the higher range today are sold as 4K Ultra HD, while a 14-year-old PC desktop monitor is not first youth, either o_O

It actually seems to be the screen estate that I don't dig with the 1080p panel I have (Gigabyte G24 170 Hz). It's very snappy, significantly faster than my Ultrawide... but is also a lot smaller so my eyes are more used to the UW.

Believe me I know. I even have some preferences of what I would replace them with but it's just not at the top of my list right now.
