Is that with the stock cooler and paste? That's completely unacceptable, both in terms of the avg/hotspot delta (40°C delta is way too much) and in absolute temperatures (that hotspot temp is reaching its throttle point).

If it's stock, I would RMA the card - that isn't acceptable stock operations, and speaks to either a badly designed cooler or poor QC. If not, then yes, definitely repaste, but also check thermal pad thicknesses - excessive pad thickness can cause poor contact.

Thanks, it's with stock cooler and paste, I am just hesitant to do anything because this only happens with that app. There is still a 30 degree delta (between gpu 'temp' and hotspot) in timespy and timespy extreme but max hotspot temp doesn't exceed 95

Appearntly 10 bit and 12 bit displays do not support MPO so this may explain why some users have no issues

Oh yeah, that's one of the main things I do with my 6800 XT; play older games with mods.

Obviously, stuff like Skyrim or Dragon's Dogma runs great maxed, but once you start throwing graphical mods at them, they starts to push the 6800 XT.

My current Skyrim SE install actually requires me to turn the resolution down to a little over 1080p for playable framerates because of the ENB and texture mods I'm using. Fortunately, RSR is a thing that exists, so the drop in visual quality is insignificant.

I have plenty of hrs up already on Skyrim SE, don't know if I could play it again... you know there is a point where you become too familiar with the map & it looses its shine, so to speak. Interesting thing about Oblivion, is that I can max out the refresh rate on my 144hz monitor with no breakage of physics unlike with Skyrim or even its SE version without mods that are finicky & barely stable at best to keep fps higher than 60 without breaking physics. In Oblivion game of the year edition deluxe , It's cool playing a game with GPU Asic power never exceeding 90w at any point in that game (as measured by HWiNFO) on my last playthrough with only 4 mods. Generally its always around 60w! That's some nice RDNA2 efficiency there with an old DX9 game. Still on 22.7.1 drivers only because they are stable still.

If I scrape the steam specials list, I might splash out on a more modern open world RPG just to get out of DX9 territory!

Tested 22.10.2 for a while now they are not stable and not even close its as if the longer i have them installed the more problems i get, as if shader cache is corrupting it self over time and causing problems except reseting it changes nothing.

Worst driver for whatsapp video calls makes entire desktop super laggy, visible lag even if little can cause anything to blackscreen even without whatsapp desktop.

AMD rep told me they think this is a Microsoft issue and they forwarded my kernel dump to Microsoft saying the video scheduler is broken, what makes no sense tho is why 22.5.1 is fine but 22.5.2 and up is not.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I was going to upgrade from 22.7.1 to WHQL 22.10.2 but after being informed of your experience, it just proves that if something is not broke, don't touch it! That old saying never gets too old in computer world.

power draw around 2363Mhz core 1992mhz vRAM 170W and a dip to 57fps in the area around 7.5gb vRAM usage tho

but thanks to you i need to check my lights and weathers mods .... even at weather preset clear 3 on proteus it feels more foggy than i got used to

Yeah, I know there are always mods & some pretty good sounding ones too - at least in the description of them. But the real problem with Skyrim in general is the game engine. I tend to only use mods listed in the top ones of all time for a given game. That way I know plenty of beta testing has already been done before I take a risk with them. There is nothing worse than putting in the hrs to build up a character only to have the game CTD just at a critical point in a quest! This tended to happen almost predictably with the creation engine in either Skyrim or Skyrim SE . Even with the Unofficial patches - that got annoying because of the constant updating over the yrs - fix one of a few things, break others...

SE issue started with AE and were induced by the AE update, AE was an insult and totally uncalled for ... they could just have made a few free DLC and keep the previous compiler (i will not buy the AE pack nonetheless, the free update is already enough of a mess )

currently i do not really care about character build since i can redo it in a matter of minutes, as i play alternate start and i have multiple clean backup that can be used to clear the problems if i ever encounter one.

the RX 6700 XT is what saved my Skyrim (not that i did mind 30fps average and 45fps max on the GTX 1070 ) well moded skyrim, that is

You can copy HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm into navigation bar of regedit to quickly navigate to it.
MPO enabled tho gives reduced latency tho so i guess this is what is causing problems.

Nvidia driver mentioned forcing vsync off was big no no stuttering and flickering issues etc where also present with Nvidia driver.
Guess what issues been known issue list for quite some time now, and some still report issues despite AMD claiming they fixed it.

For Windows 10/11 the path needs to be Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm not just HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm I doubt people with the RX 6000 series is still on XP or something

I keep coming back to Skyrim, too. I, of course, use a patched version of the game to avoid Steam update shenanigans, though I patched my Steam copy myself using two open-source software solutions.

Every now and then, I'll wipe out all of my mods and start over.

I really hope that the modding community starts supporting the GOG version since that is already safe from forced updates. While I trust the patching software I use, it really shouldn't be necessary.

MPO is only enabled on mainscreen, so if you started whatsapp video call with chat window on 2e screen it wont trigger, i just tested this on clean install on 22.7.1 and i did verify first if i blackscreen if i do it on mainscreen.
MPO is also not working on mainscreen if its set to 10 bit or 12 bit, it only supports 8 bit color depth.

MPO is enabled if this key is missing, and if mainscreen is set to 8 bit color depth, and can only trigger blackscreens on mainscreen.

Adding missing key disables MPO

Make sure that key is missing, install windows 11 22h2 enable flip model optimisations this speeds up blackcreens quite fast if you install a driver like 22.7.1 which is the most reliable driver to recover from blackscreens, while being able to trigger blackscreens under 2 minutes, other drivers that can also trigger it under 2 minutes usually do not recover and sometimes even generate a dump file.
Anyway keep in mind MPO is only enabled on mainscreen and if 8 bit color depth is selected.

Whatsapp desktop app from Microsoft store can trigger it under 2 minutes doing a video call quite reliably especially if firefox is also running probably also with chrome running.

i did roll back to 22.7.1 to test it and then went back to 22.10.3

it furstrate me a bit, but i can't replicate (and i have no intention to upgrade to Win 11 soon )

i guess i should just be glad my rig run as it should without "Murphy" meddling with it

It causes a lot more issues actually then Nvidia probably realised corruption as well and i am starting to suspect that it also caused shadoer cache corruption for Nvidia and quite possibly for AMD to altho if not noticed similar bugs like that with MPO enabled yet, reason why i suspect it is because alt tab corruption issue is also MPO related, and if things can corrupt then it can perhaps also cause shader cache to generate with same corruption.

Only happens on this amd 6800 reference card. I've gotten new psu, memory, motherboard, new nvme drives, hard disks, case. Nothing has worked.

It causes an small audio stutter every now and then which is especially annoying when listening to music.

Its also possible you are using an old vision of latency mon which is bugged and miss reporting.

Since i am running 7.20
I remember from windows 7 days the old dpc latency tool stopped working i believe since windows 8 and had similar reporting on windows 8 and 10 heck it looks like this
