Although we're only some three weeks away from the launch of AMD's Radeon RX 7000-series cards, it has been pretty quiet from its partners. That said, PowerColor has finally revealed more than just a tiny detail of its upcoming Radeon RX 7900 Red Devil via a post on Facebook. The company didn't reveal any specs and it's unclear if this will be an RX 7900 XT or an RX 7900 XTX based card.

What we can see from the picture is that it's a triple-slot card with air being vented out the rear, something AMD's reference cards don't do. It's obviously a triple-fan card and PowerColor has equipped it with some LED lights as one would expect. Not much else is revealed by the single picture of the card, due to the angle the card sits at, so we don't know what kind of ports to expect, or what kind of power connectors the card will have. Hopefully PowerColor will reveal more details before the official launch on the 13th of December.

I'll be first to say - cooling over aesthetics. At least to many of us.
Now with that out of the way - why do we keep getting these plastic bonanza LED shroud designs for premium cards? Can this shift a bit?
It really feels like Radeon cards are getting the tacky side of AIB designs with Powercolor, XFX and others just competing on how designs the best "2004 gamer" looking shrouds and back plates for graphics cards. It sucks, because it often paints Radeon cards in a negative way.

They say simplicity's strength, and I agree with it when it comes to graphics cards aesthetics. Frankly, the reference model RX 6000 cards were the cleanest and best looking in my eyes. Now that RX 7000 cards are getting more complex reference designs, its sad to see that some of the appeal of the sleekness is gone. Would love vendors to try and stick to simple lines, sleek and minimalistic shrouds and good color combo selections for something a bit more neutral and of less bumps and bizarre textures.

It's been proven, many of times, that a GPU can have all the above. Great cooling, aesthetics, class-leading perf, etc. BUT it always depends on the most devoted/HIGH-INTEGRITY oem, etc. to make it a reality.

What I'm saying is that by everybody wanting to be different - they all end up looking similar. I can only give points to Sapphire for maintaining a rather simple design for many cards, but im not a fan of where they are going with recent product launches. Sapphire to me will stay a cut above the rest for Radeon thanks to a rich history of designs that make more sense than others.

By now, I expect most designs from AIBs to remain the same as their GeForce ones, and those who are AMD exclusive to look tacky as the one shown here by Powercolor. Not a fan, but again, this is very much my own personal opinion. I might be in the minority here.

We will have first to see how much 7900XT/X cards can overclock when having more power available. But even then I would never ever put a quad slot brick in my case. Others will happily buy them.

With its restless desire to rule the universe but no wish to see any light,
Devil 13, the ruler of the underworld created a new Devil to rise from the underworld and master all creatures.
Red Devil as he was named,
known to be the only Devil besides his creator to master all elements of the Pentagon;
Earth, Water, Fire, Wind and Void,
it's presence was feared by all corners of the new world.
Ever since, no one dared to challenge Devil's true gaming empire

Jesus Christ the cringe.... lmao

Well, when I get back, my RX 7900 XTX would be from One of these exclusive AIBs - PowerColor, Sapphire or XFX. That Red Devil does look badass though, though I prefer that industrial non-LED look of my PowerColor Vega64 Red Devil.

Hi,
Only so much they can do with a air cooler systems
Either 2 or 3 fans, you don't want them to go back to blower style do you, those are shit coolers.

It depends, really. If they innovate and design something with more cooling capabilities, such as double vapour chamber, 50% more heat pipes, etc tricks, it might be a good solution.
We don't know but yeah, this 4-slot cooler with 3 fans is a no-go. Better water cooling 1-slot.

I hate the fact that Powercolor has been reserving reviews for their cards to "content creators" on YouTube. I'm a fan of Powercolor/Sapphire/Asrock AMD cards, but only the latter two make the cards available to mass reviews. Powercolor makes good cards, stop reserving cards for the YouTube crowd.

I would never buy a card called "devil".
Why do they use this name instead of something more like "Godlike", "Zeus", or any of the many Greek mythology characters:

I mean MSI has a motherboard called Godlike.
And the Devil is just cool I guess, but yeah so is Zeus, Thor, Kraken (wait NZXT uses that), Ra, you name it, plenty of names (gods) out there but Red Devil is also just kewl yo, like flames on your mat black Mercury Coupe or something like that.

Poseidon?

Trying to understand why you care so much about the name on a card? Are you looking for names or performance?

Names, the performance is already fixed by the creator of the chip, not by those who put some weird labels on the boxes.

the Devil is just cool I guess

I don't. It's more hot than cool, and is associated with the evil, it's the extreme negative.

It's not fixed, hince AIB OCs and different cooling solutions. If it were fixed, all that would be available is reference. Names is marketing, performance inside your case is what matters.

The bracket is triple slot, the cooler appears to extend beyond, so 4 slots.

Err, it's fixed. We can adjust the performance ourselves - there is tweaking software for this purpose. I don't need the AIB OCs cause I can do it myself.

It’s fixed but I can adjust. Logic.

One the factors I always look out when buying a graphics card is the name. Logic.

Maybe we should start getting a section in the reviews which provides pros and cons of the names too…

Alright, if this is a common belief ill remain with my seemingly unpopular opinion. People want this gamery stuff.
