CPU Heatsink for Q6600 MSI 7513

I am upgrading my CPU in my MSI 7513 from E8600.What Heatsink should i get Intel D95263-001 Socket 775 Heatsink & Fan Cooler
Intel D75716-002 Socket 775 Heatsink & Fan Cooler this one is £5
Original Intel E97376-001 Heatsink for Core 2 Quad CPU Cooling Fan but it is the most expensive at £13 open box.
Some one said they are interchangeable are they ,i am confused there are so many of them

I see from looking at old forums i am not the only one having problems fitting this type of heatsink.
*Hey all, I just got a new CPU - Q6600 and am having trouble building my new PC. When trying to install the intel-shipped CPU heatsink, it won't clip on. I have to use all my might to get all the clips in but once one is in, the other side snaps back up. One of the clips is now bent.*

I would prefer the Akasa as they normally would have a copper core. Either way any skt 775 heatsink would work although you might not be able to run any big clocks with it.

I just looked a old Dell Motherboard and saw that you need a back plate to screw it into not mine does not have one That is the one i have unfourunatly some of the plastic bits have broken off.What do you think of this on

D34223-002 Socket 775 There are so many of them with different numbers on. some are 001 or 002 what do they mean?​

You can remove that black frame around the CPU socket. Its probably just attached by adhesive. You'll be able to use the pushpin coolers in the same holes after that, It shouldnt matter.

I just tried the old Dell Heatsink and managed to get one side of it on the board.
I am not sure it will work for the right-sized Heatsink with all four in there.

Do you need a backplate on the Motherboard to use a screwd in one?
because mine does not have one. But I managed to fit one side of an old Dell screwd in one on there, the heatsink is a different size of course. I would prefer a screw one to a push-in one. I don,t know if it was a fluke or not .
An export that has trouble with those crap Push pins. So i do need a back plate.

Yeah, for the screw-in heatsinks you will need a back plate or something to screw to.
(you can test if the heatsink fits the backplate by just screwing it to the back plate without anything between them. It makes it much easier to manage stuff : )

Some cases have the metal motherboard holder actually have screw holes for screw in heatsinks. Depends on the desktop case tho.. It doesn't sound like yours does.

Yes because it screws into some nuts. X79, X99 and X299 had their own screw in retention systems but if you take the backplate off these. its just holes.

Maybe there is something around the CPU socket that is preventing the cooler from mounting correctly.

Get me a picture of all those washers and nuts together. Like lay them all out and send me a picture because I cant picture all that and know how it goes together, my brain aint that great.

If you get me the picture. I'll be able to tell you if you need some of that stuff otherwise its just trial and error till you find a combo that fits

But if dont have a backplate, the push pin CPU cooler should work. Maybe youre not pushing the pins in correctly? I know they can be a bit of effort to get everything lined up and mounted correctly.

Full working order I see it is not an OEM one.
It will be a fair journey for me as it is on the other side of London at least it is near the station i don,t drive myself.I just sent a message to the seller I bet it has gone the advert has been on there for 4 weeks.
I see that this is out of a PC will i be able to fit it in a case ,and what is it mini Atx or full size Atx?

Same here, this is the second one I have busted, and seems a lot of people have problems with them. The first one was a PC I bought on eBay somehow I managed to get it back on knowing it was not on properly. because it did not work, But there might have been something up with the PC. Luckily I got a refund from the seller.
And after seeing a video of a tech person on you tube saying he had broken so many he had lost count that made my day.

I upgraded from a Core 2 Duo to a Quad (Q9550) without changing the heatsink, and temperatures are still good.

You might want to try the same.

That,s interesting Lex says it should be a bigger fan because the quad CPU,s are 95w.

The Q6600 is TDP 105W (65nm) but you may still find the original heatsink sufficient.

I went for lower power with the Q9550 (45nm) to strain the VRMs less

I am confused with all the different Heatsinks it is a minefield for me.

I have a few AMD 955 machines that have been handed down and still working, with radeon HD6850s. Had to change the bios battery, but other than that still chugging along. I think the one in my garage is a wolfdale something.

It seems like each generation is made to fail a little sooner than the previous one. There are plenty of PCs from the 1980s and 90s that still work just fine. If they have a fan, the fan will fail, but the rest of the machine runs just fine. In fact, a few years back, I worked as basically a factory automation technician in a factory that made products from ground and machined metals. One of the harshest environments imaginable for PCs. There is water, coolants and oils mixed with ground metal dust and some soot from the heat treating for good measure. Any way, there was this one PC that was still in use on an old heat treat line for logging and printing reports. It was in a metal enclosure with no fan or dust filtration. A generic beige box 486 running Windows 3.11. The power supply fan had seized and the entire power supply and the chassis was filled with half an inch of thick nasty dust and soot. I was blown away that this PC still ran, it was still doing its job. The only reason it was removed from service was the entire heat treat line was decommissioned.
