and you just randomly quoted to troll me because you don’t like me :(
If it in this thread, no. Whether I like you or not is irrelevant. I quoted you to point out how out of touch with reality your notion was and how mute it is. The service is canceled and the sister service is failing. What more evidence do you want?
have a good holiday you curmudgeon :toast:
Wow, more name calling. What a surprise..

excuse me ?
You're excused. Please see yourself out.. :slap:
how many people you know in total out of all the nvidia gpu customers?
I own a PC shop. So yeah, ALOT.
you literally have no idea what you are talking about.
Whatever..
I'll bet you any amount that the only reason it is getting discontinued it is because it was free and it's about to come back , later, rebranded as a pay-per use service or limited to the latest GPU, or any of the crap that nvidia scams people out their money these days.
It was discontinued because no one ever used it. GeforceNow will soon follow.

We were talking about streaming in general, not gamestream lol, you don’t even know what you’re responding to :(

Nonsense. Very few people use it, which is why it's been discontinued.
I'd argue it's been discontinued to push GeforceNow, or as one user postulated, due to DLSS3 issues. Heck, I don't have metrics at hand, but I do know for a fact game streaming has exploded in popularity recently. SteamLink, which is baked into the steam client and overlay, is probably your best source for hard data.

This thread is about game streaming. Once again, context IS important. :slap:

While I don't wish to imply anything against you, I'll believe that when I see it. All indications elsewhere show that game steaming in all it's forms is not well liked and is losing what little audience it currently has..

Local streaming isn’t cloud streaming… not even in the most colloquial sense. I don’t think you know what “context” even means, or why you’re engaging with me at all.

Gamestream is a local stream product though?

Game streaming is game streaming whether it's over a LAN or a WAN. It's all gaming over a networked data stream. Are we understanding the context yet?

Let's consult a third party;
2 : the interrelated conditions in which something exists or occurs
How about someone else;
2 : the set of circumstances or facts that surround a particular event, situation, etc.

Well, there we have it. What do you think?

elsewhere where? in your computer shop?
you do not matter!
Are you ever going to join a discussion where you contribute something meaningful?

"uh...I don't use gamestream therefore nobody uses it"
go back to windows 95.

how limited in technology knowledge, no, common sense at least , can you be to asume nvidia puts dual AV1 encoders on its product just to discontinue half of its purpose (when claim same will happen to geforce now). how limited?
it's going to happen exactly what a person with at least 1 brain cell can guess: the free gamestream service is getting discontinued so they can make more money out of us with geforce now.

are you?
all you are doing is promoting your limited IQ and capabilities as an absolute truth
I would also like to join @lexluthermiester in asking you to contribute something meaningful or nothing at all. Spamming the thread with personal attacks is childish.

this thread is dedicated to those that use the feature and will miss it.
if you and the other guy don't, that's ok, but I can't see how any of you can contribute with something meaningful here.
how is applauding nvidia removing free features more meaningful that what I am saying?
it's like me talking about religion although I'm an atheist.

The thread, like every other thread is dedicated to anyone who has an opinion on the topic. You don't dictate who can comment, and neither do I.

Personally, I disagree with the cancellation of any free service that doesn't cost a penny for the host company to run, especially if the intent is for users to switch for a paid one instead.

Read posts 60, 63, 64, and 65? One is monetized and the other isn’t? In one circumstance you own all of the content and hardware, in the other you don’t?

If you really want context, refer to post 66, which is what you’re arguing with me about. I’m just saying the posts I just mentioned made valid arguments which, to be sure, is subjective and not objective as you claim. You can disagree with their validity, but you haven’t yet, so I’m not sure what your point is.

seems the nightly build of Sunshine is on par with gamestream in latency & quality performance. maybe we won't miss gamestream after all.

Gaming is going to the cloud. And like all shitty gaming stuff PC will lead the way to it! PC gaming will be first on the cloud and than drag consoles to it with it. Like all shitty gaming things, PC will lead us there!

Some people have been saying this for a good 10 years now, yet, there's only evidence of the opposite so far.

I bet you guys still use CDs, right?
Cloud is the future, because they will be finally able to control piracy. there will be no way around it.
One would be a fool to think companies won't push for it.

And only someone daft in the head would think cloud computing/gaming will ever replace local computing/gaming.

Piracy is not an issue. People who can't afford games won't afford them without piracy, either. If it was a problem, devs and publishers would have pushed for a solution long ago. Not to mention the huge discounts on online distribution platforms (especially around the holidays). I have more than 400 games in my Steam library, but I can count on one hand those that I paid more than 10 quid for.

And yes, I do use CDs, just not as often as I used to. :)

Well said. I use GOG, but have a similar number of games. I haven't bought a game on Steam or Epic in a long damn time. DRM Free or no money from me.
