If I remember correctly, I read the nforce 680i has 'FSB holes' that made overclocking really difficult. You think you've found a FSB wall, then try 15 or 20 MHz higher & it works. Definitely made it a challenge.
Can you answer this question this one is supported i have seen this one on eBay

Xeon Processor E3-1230 v2 (8M Cache, 3.30 GHz)Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 3.3ghz 4 Core 8 Thread LGA1155 CPU. i,m confused o_O

E3-1230 - CM8062307262610 / BX80623E31230
E3-1230, 3.2G, 1333, 8 MB, 4C, D20703Any
The chipset may not support some features of Xeon processors
E3-1230, 3.2G, 1333, L3:8MB, 4C, D2
Intel Xeon E3-1230 (3.2G,1333,L3:8MB,4C,D2)
And what are the things that this CPU want support on my board?

Got two cards that have a thing in common, both were marketed as having "groundbreaking" compression features. As you can see one is slightly older than the other :D

Yeah... that P5N-D is pretty mangled. Not having high expectations for it, but I may be able to patch most of it up. I guess the nicest thing is the DDR500 ADATA sticks - never had any OC capable RAM (if these can OC at all.)

I think those Adata sticks are Hynix D43. Decent IC.

I see that there are two versions of this
e3 1230 3.2 sandy bridge
e3 1230 3.3 Ivy Bridge
There are no comparisons between the 3.2 Sandy Bridge one that is compatible with my Asus 61.mx motherboard.
All the comparisons are done between the 3.3 Ivy bridge one. That is sorted now ,the only video I have seen on the Sandy Bridge version is this one.
i don,t think it is worth £20 the cheapest price on eBay, even dealer on Ali Express. o_O

I picked up my £5 PC and got all this extra cabals windows 7 disc stuff. :) Those IDE cabals must be worth a few bob.plus there are two others. And one of those tiny DVD s with windows 98 and an XP one. The guy was a friendly person :) That case was a very good idea to put a big heavy case in:) Mind you I am glad it was a direct route on DLR and the tube :)It would have been another ball game if I had to use the Buses.o_O The PSU
is a semi-modular?That blue thing fell out I can see where it went.
I take it all those cards need to come out apart from the AGP.
The screws on 23 are to remove the drive bay.

Working on a bit of a project with Q4OS Linux on a K7 machine. Ended up running the techpowerup forums on an Athlon XP. Suprisingly not too slow because the os is very lightweight and so is the default browser which is very old. No newer browsers will work. Chromium gripes about no SSE3 (don't even have 2) and Firefox just doesn't open. I couldn't post a message from this browser because the text box element was broken.

I'd much prefer this to the 2.26ghz pentium 4 Northwoods I ran this forum on.

And it's even got that turbo CPU cooler, I like it. Must have been loud. :)
Thanks., I think it was a very good deal for £5. The guy said it boots but thought there was a problem with the PC. If I can,t get it to work still a bargain at that price. :) .Plus all the other stuff he gave me. I have no idea why there was no fan on the case though.:(

I have just tried a PSU that i got with a £5 PC case ,i thought it was nor working .I thought i would try it again with the £5 MSI 7513
Motherboard and it is working,I must admit i was surprised that it did not work the first time i tried it,I have put the power on but that does not work o_O The fan spins for a short time then goes off then back on again.o_O Why does the power switch not work? It is in the right position. The VGA is connected the right way nothing posting.I bought that card a couple of months ago because it looked cool but did not know how weak the card was :(For £4 that was not a bargain as I realize now.
I just tried it again and all I get is the orange light, I tried the old Dell PSU
that was the same thing the light on in the case and the light in the case. :(

Why does the power switch not work

Could be a bad power switch. Looks like you have it on the correct pins. Of course I can't really tell, as the picture doesn't show the description of pins. Pull the video card and power switch plug and take a top down picture so we can see the description.

Could be my bad luck with stuff. more like:( Mind you I had success with the £4 Dell PC.:)I tried the PSU on the old Hp Motherboard without the switch it worked. Then turned it off and plugged the VGA cable in all I got was the green light on the board. Tried it on the Msi board and the same thing. I have no idea why it suddenly didn,t work. o_OJust before that, I wrote a message to the FMP seller to tell him I got it wrong it did work. But after I tried it again managed to delete that message. I am not having much faith that the £5 PC I got yesterday will work. That does not matter because the guy said he thought there was a fault with it. It would be nice if the PSU in there would work.I have more faith in that because it can,t be that old with the modern black cable and it being semi-modular. All be it being an unknown brand AREZ, I see Asus have a graphics card of that name but doubt if it has anything to do with them.

I downloaded the manual & yes, the power switch jumper is correct. The video card should be in PCIe16 1, the dark blue slot. I see RAM in the latest picture (1031). All you are going to get is a RAM missing beep code in the picture 1028 config, but you don't have a case speaker connected, so you won't hear anything.

BTW, the motherboard has built-in Reset & Power On switches. There are two little red buttons, one closest to the battery is Reset, the other is Power On.

Thanks for that. :) The PSU has stopped working now, I was expecting the old Dell PSU to work on the Hp board because it was working when I took it out of the PC with the dodge bent pin socket board.ARESZE Semi Modular. this is the one in the PC i got in the yesterday ,i have not checked the actual modal .
I got this one the over day AERO COOL 750W PSU that is also semi moduler to :)
The Aresze are not cheap, o_OI would have thought it was overkill for that old PC.

Regards that blue heatsink that was over the viva chip there is just one connection that has a black screw ,i don,t know how it came off there as you can see the connector that you screw it to is not broken.I see this gut lost his heatsink

I've seen that. Earlier days of Youtube. I've collected as much info as I can on them. They're just darned rare, and most were sold in Europe I think.

My IP35 Pro would get jealous if I ever got one though. Big bro X48 would beat up on it.
I have one with me.

Actually it isn't my work, a good friend of mine did this mod long time ago.:) You almost got it, it is a slitghtly modified Asus Maximus Extreme (X38) VRM heatsink. I don't post on HWBot. The green PCB is a special dual bios module, it's also costume made.:peace:I can do more pics if you are interested.

That's very impressive. I'm sure we all would love to see more pictures, if you don't mind... :D

Have you overclocked it? How far can you push FSB with Wolfdale? Max DRAM frequency? Which Volterra FETs were used? Wondering if it's the same VRM as the AB9 QuadGT. :)

I don't know of many DDR3 Abit boards at all, the only other I'm aware of is the (unreleased) IX58 Max.

As regards the Hp board I know it works so must be the two Psu,s have packed up, not sure about the Msi one thougho_O. Anyway I received the ASUS P8H61-MX motherboard Intel® H61 LGA 1155 (Socket H2) micro ATX.it is so tiny, I did not realize it was that small. o_OBefore I bought this I
got this DQ670W Intel but I sent it back today, I did not realize it did not support IVY Bridg. I should have checked of course.o_O That looks like a decent cooler on it. :)

Here are some fresh ones!
Unfortunately the 2nd bios chip died and was removed, so the 1st is the only working one right now, which is enough for normal usage. As far as I now this board has the best digital VRM-s which was on any abit motherboard!

As regards the £5 PC I bought on Sunday I can,t see it weighing 33 lbs o_O
I am trying to work out how to get all the cards out of it and those grey cabals :(Any ideas?o_OI don,t know why they can,t just have screws, instead of the green plastic they have on there.o_OI have a plastic bit I can fit where the floppy drive goes , but can,t find it.o_O I don,t suppose anyone knows what case it is.o_O
