I felt like AMD was on a roll with driver support until after a driver like 5-6 drivers ago and now they haven't released a new driver for anything other then the 7000 series, though I feel like both worse drivers and this gap comes down to AMD just not having the resources to use in its driver team that Nvidia has. I think with their dropping GPU market share even though margin and profits are up this might be a really hard issue for AMD to overcome, this is probably where they need a bit more market share in order to have a big enough customer base to spend more money on driver development. Though clearly AMD is better then Intel right now when it comes to GPU drivers though Intel is right now willing to lose money building its GPU base so they certainly have the potential to catchup and pass AMD here.

I currently have a 6900XT and love it, though thinking that I will wait until 8000 series or RTX 5000 to upgrade as I was thinking about upgrading and giving my card to a nephew.

48 Days without a Driver is not so uncommon. It is true though that we have been spoiled rotten by AMD's Monthly drivers.

NVIDIA releases WHQL certified drivers basically biweekly, through two stream channels for their modern RTX GPUs - one that is productivity focused, and one that is gaming focused. High-priority issues are usually addressed in hotfix drivers in the interim between these biweekly releases. There is just no way AMD can keep up with this, the cost of running this development schedule must be the size of Radeon's entire budget.

On the other hand, AMD releases one WHQL every 3 months, if that... their pacing is completely different. But their software teams are also completely different. The unusual longevity of this RDNA 3-only branch implies that they are having some software development issues regarding the new cards. The only shame is for those who wanted a day one driver for Forspoken, but then again that game isn't doing too good either, might be a wise idea to wait it out.

well then you shouldn't review because your bias then.

How exactly is ir_cow biased if they're just... stating the obvious?

That's some nice war in the comments xD

22.11.2 here, with my 6700XT and I can tell I have nothing to worry about, Radeon Enhanced Sync still makes most of my games crash (GTA V/Online and Monster Hunter Rise for example), the FRTC still doesn't work on every games (if it works at all), I did use the feedback feature nVidia doesn't have (yeah you have to use an old school unreadable forum to give a feedback for nVidia) but they don't give a fuck it seems, like nVidia.

Btw I don't understand why you guys use so much energy fighting about fanboyism, imagine paying hundreds or thousands of dollars for crappy softwares (yeah, without any drivers, you just have a huge pile of crap connected to your motherboard) and yelling at people on websites instead of yelling at the software producers xD
I have a 6700 XT also, if you are having crashes I recommend using non Chromium based products.

Use Firefox.

Don't use Discord, and don't use Chrome or Edge. Fixed all my problems, finally.

Still way better than realtek sound drivers lol
Realtek sound drivers are legendary (bad). I legit want a different company to take over.

Yes...........for products like my 3070 Ti and 2060 Super with completed, stable drivers and optimizations. The 7900XT/XTX is certainly not one of those products, not by any standard.
Yeah, but people are cyring about no new drivers for 6000 series.

Or "No new driver since 48 days ago". Good spotting. :toast:

You have a point there. 48 days is nothing, especially when the last driver is working fine. We should be crying for Realtek driver updates instead. :p

Better to just use the Microsoft audio drivers. Realtek drivers do not even have the Loudness Equalization option in the device properties.

Modern Realtek drivers don't seem to have anything, in fact. Their old drivers were much better. That's why I switched to HDMI audio a while ago.

And when you say Nvidia has better driver support for their GPUs you get hammered by AMD fans sometimes.

I like both brands, they both have impressive GPUs, but what I'm reading here is really not acceptable
AMD fan here, you are right, and im furious at this point. Nvidia has improved overtime while AMD well... its on a perpetual beta test

I can only say a bit because I’m “behind the curtain“ Yes it is really all hands on deck right now trying to get some bugs smashed before releasing another public ready driver

Just for the record I have a Radeon 7900XT and the drivers are rock solid. No issues so far.
Similar here, except any attempt to OC can cause issues, just using it in stock config I see no issues besides two monitor high power use which at the moment I am not bothered with.

I do find it amusing though because if I push infinity fabric speeds on the CPU that does cause GPU crashes usb disconnect etc I'm talking 2000 though so not stock 1900 is fine.

I don't like the OC stuff being in the GPU driver either.

My GPU has gone days running F@H without any issue too,(wtaf) plus a HR or two gaming a night.

I have had crashes, but only if I pc the GPU, and I mean OC it, not take it too far it can pass a 3dmark stress test then crash on Crysis remastered, I personally think it's down to too high FPS in menu's like over 3000 on Crysis in menu, not useful.

While my 6900XT drivers keep crashing randomly (mostly black screens and software reset the fans to zero mode).

Now I'm back to June 2022 drivers. Lets see.

Had some issues lately, too but it was due to a simple setting: 10-Bit Pixel Format... re-enabling made the GPU much more stable but has problems in conjunction with the Windows Sandbox.

I like the GPU OC stuff in the driver but I absolutely hated the CPU being in there. It’s of course gone now with the 5800X3D. Good riddance it liked to change my BIOS OCs on some Factory Instals and it drove me nuts. Stay the hell out my BIOS???!!! That was way over the line

If you do not install Ryzen Master the problem is gone instantly. It will show metrics but no way to impact/OC/UV your CPU.

Trust me I have and never will install Ryzen Master the problem is the GPU driver installs components from it no choice. It still does if you look in your programs list the Ryzen Master SDK is there. It’s still being used for the metric/monitoring.
I don‘t know if my custom title is clear but I beta test these drivers for AMD ;)

There isn't a need to update their drivers for the 6000 series.
Horizon 4(steam version) works with the latest drivers and doesn't on the Nvidia gpu with latest drivers.
I still have to stick with the 1st release driver from October.

You are right... the option for Auto-tuning is there - requiring a restart. Getting CPU metrics in Adrenalin is actually fine for me.

The Windows program list has exactly 2 entries: AMD Chipset Software and AMD Software. No extra entry for Ryzen Master SDK. To find traces of entries I had to search the registry and the program folders - which both have entries but it looks like they are just sitting there for installing reasons should you hit the "Manual Tuning - Custom" button in the graphics driver. I might be wrong but as far as it concerns me it is not installed so far.

Just the media being divisive, forsaken was developed while 6000 series cards was available so any amd optimisation would have covered RDNA2 however there would be deltas to a brand new game as the architecture and drivers are immature. I guarantee that these drivers will only bring the performance levels in line with the additional power of 7900's and not mean 6000 series cards are deliberately being neglected.

Does not change the fact, that the customer-driver DOES NOT install the Ryzen Master SDK automatically. Looks like you being a beta tester the driver installation does some special magic for you.

Yeah most people are using that setting incorrectly. It should have more clear instructions for it's purpose. It will for most users cause issues

I am currently on the same driver as you are. I wouldn't show anything that wasn't "public" I am on the WHQL
I could probably safely remove it and like you just find the traces of it because it is still being used for the metrics
