You could stretch that definition of technology to cover almost anything... Point being TPU focuses on the hardware enthusiasts spectrum of technology and hardware in its core competency (PC hardware), so either high performance or the leading edge / new technology in some aspect. For the most part the audio headphones and DACs follows that trend, audio is a bit different in that ultimately it is subjective but for a site that focuses on the
performance aspect this is not what really what I'd like to see. Focus on its performance (in terms of its technology) in some aspect or what it brings to the table that differentiates itself in terms of features (in terms of technology). This thing brings nothing in terms of performance or new technology... I guess if it wasn't so expensive and dumb looking I wouldn't really care but this does nothing to justify its ridiculous price.
I looked at reviews too, and didn't really see any with the prerequisites, credentials or reputation to be making audio reviews, that I'd put any faith in. Lots of reviews from click through pages with positive reviews for the most part, and the only review from a site that does this kinda thing and that I'd lend much weight to is
Digital Trends and they didn't care for it.
Like it or not $1,500 isn't out of line for a high-end two way bookshelf and the KEF are a bargain at twice the price compared to this, especially when you consider you get a actual pair when you buy the LS50s. You can look up what the META "technology" is; its real and based on real acoustic physical properties. You can also see the driver of the
Meta reviewed here, and you kinda have to know you are looking at but its an advanced driver that isn't cheap to produce and it peforms like it should for its price. Did the marketing department get creative? Sure, but you have to give it a name and call it something for the people that don't have a EE degree and members of the AES and differentiate it from the Q150/350 (which is a fraction of the price).
