Radeon RX 6700, 6700 XT & 6750 XT users club

wait, what?

Just kidding. Bought from some guy on the aftermarket. But the odds of RMAing this one are the same as if I had really stocked on it on the junkyard.

ah, drat... how much did you pay for it?

from what i can see, it was probably used to mine and not in optimal conditions...
you said everything work fine at stock right?

♂Three hundred bucks♂ (not kidding)

Remove the "probably" and you'll be correct.
everything work fine at stock
Aye, aye, cap'n. It can handle mild OC (2600–2700 core, 2150 mem) with no stability issues whatsoever, alas being too hot (tested in Cyberprank 2077 and Forza Horizon 5 at 4K60 so I'm not just wording).

The only couple problems there are fans (they're a little tired so I needda replace'em some day) and fast memory timings (goes bananas as in it takes less than 3 minutes to bug out).

Considering the price and the outcome I'm really happy with this purchase but, y'know, nil satis nisi optimum, so I wanna know if my card can do fast timings and if it can... how?

300 is fine, got mine for 450 during a promotion, it was 650 regular price but she was BNIB
tho, reference card or custom? for the fans, well you know what they say "if your onlyfans are tired ... gotta replace them." (ok ... silly )although ref model fans not sure where to find some ... (even customs) although i saw some second hand reference cooler on Ebay and AliExpress sometime.

as for timing ... well i run mine at stock since i bought it in july 2022, never bothered to tweak since the performances are fine @1620p ... aside from undervolting later i see no incentive
OC UV i know and usually do a lot (or rather did a lot before .... when it was still relevant and fun ) but timing on the vRAM never (normal RAM yes ... although not recently )

edit, i just noticed the vRAM timing in Adrenalin ... ... maybe i will check for mine (Micron chips)

reference card or custom?
XFX Speedster SWFT309. Really good PCB and cooling solution there. It's just a pity I got a tired/low OC potential GPU. Witnessed other 6700XTs capable of rocking 2850 MHz or even 2900 but it's not my case.
not sure where to find some
I won't bother much. Case fans of such diametre are ciminally cheap so I can frankenstein the device any moment. Just a matter of will and spare hours.

Works fine here, I have Micron VRAM as well :)

ah well usually XFX cards are good

don't worry about the OC tho ... most reviews have:
  • Almost no gains from overclocking
  • Memory overclocking artificially limited
in the cons

Undervolting and bumping powerlimits on the other hand...

for the fans yeah, ghetto is the way to go  post the result here https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/ghetto-mods.55387/

yep just activated it ... although i am not sure it will make a difference :D

o_O I have undervolted my 6700 XT to 1100mV yet still maxed out the power target. Put a expansion slot bracket fan though dunno does it actually make any difference.

I didn't even know such extensions existed! o_O

They aren't extensions, they're sleeved replacements for the original cables :)

Oh, I meant the fan mount. I wonder how much it helps GPU temperatures. :)

Almost no gains from overclocking
As I mentioned, the difference at 4K is noticeable. 6700 XT is seriously bottlenecked by its VRAM speed. It could, given we OC it a bit, compete with 3070 Ti be it of 256-bit bus and/or 20+ GHz VRAM clocks.

RX 6800 is the proof.

The auto undervolt option gives me 1175 mV, which isn't much below stock. Also, the fans spin a little slower, giving me the same temperatures. It's as if the card was purposefully designed to run this hot.

Fast timings don't do much anyway. I'd just leave them off and call it a day. :)
Yeah I was messing with fast timing it pretty much does nothing.

no but mine were extension ... if i find it back i show it :p

ah... expansion ... well usually these fan mount where used under the GPU but your case has a sidemount which is nice too (specially for side mounted GPU also )

Ah, these are common and cheap. You can get a branded one but they're practically the same as these cheap ebay ones.

You're saying the polar opposite of Chrispy_ :D
I somehow think the truth sits somewhere in the middle ^^

Nope. No matter what I try, ReBAR doesn't change a thing.
Did you enable above 4g? Just asking.

I'm glad I don't need to change the cooler on my 6750XT. XFX did a great job on the chassis and thermal design. The fans move a ton of air and yeah they get super loud at full speed. But I have them set at 45-50% on all games. Never gets past 55 degrees.

Hmm, I'll try these.

enable above 4g
Completely forgot about this option.

Disabled it and fast timings became WORKING but that ruined performance by so much this can't be considered OK.

It's prolly something not right with Gigabyte mobos. The moment I get some ReBAR-ready board of no Gigabyte for a test, I will post an update.

Is your board a pcie 3.0 or 4.0?

nevermind answered my own question.

You need above 4g enabled. Turn off fast timing.

At least no problems here with Gigabyte B550 platform with ReBar AND fast timings on.

Don't get me wrong, it's not a problem. :) As long as it runs within intended parameters, it's fine. All I'm saying is, it's quite a hot GPU at stock during full utilisation, with literally zero headroom for overclocking (which again, is fine).
Yeah, the 6700XT I used was a reference card - It looks like it should be a good cooler - it has the weight and build quality with plenty of fins and ventilation but when you actually use it it's a bit underwhelming on both noise and temperatures :\

Same, GA B550 DS3H and fast timings with Rebar. I'm using an older Zen2 as well...

It's 3.0 de jure but with the 11th gen CPU, I run PCI-E 4.0.

You don't say.

Well, then I'll snag a different CPU and see if it makes any difference.
Those are the settings on a asus board. Not sure if Gigabyte is similar.

Dude your cpu is fine. I just think something in the bios or something is set wrong.
