You're very limited in overclocking settings, so there's a very little chance to mess things up. They won't know if you overclocked.

As for the reason, I doubt you'll fix your lagging problems with overclocking. Mobile RTX 3050 is very limited in certain games.

Yes, they can't know you overclocked unless you tell them you did. But, as I've said, you're very limited in how much more performance you can squeeze out of that GPU.

To make it as care free as possible (no voiding of warranty), just increase power limit (MSI Afterburner) as much as you are allowed by the card's BIOS and it will go to higher clocks by itself. Do look at temperatures occasionally.

overclocking voids your warranty the same way as a warranty on a bicycle limited to driving 30km/h. how do they want to know if i drove 40?

It is a laptop, generally laptops do not take it easy with overclocking. Why even bother.

I feel more heat and possible throttling coming up...

If you want/need to game on a laptop buy a Sager/Eurocom, the ones with beefy cooling.

Best, use a desktop for gaming.

Bloatware messing on that laptop, taking resources?
There a numerous articles on that, so I will not put any links here.

My (AMD Ryzen) Dell G15 has the 80-watt version of the mobile 3050, runs at 2.1 GHz. It overclocks very nicely... you do it with MSI Afterburner as you would on a desktop card, however, but that will depend on:

1. Your laptop's power allowance
2. Your laptop's power brick capacity (mine has a 180W one)
3. Your laptop's cooling capacity

Overclocking it will not fix VRAM starvation, the 4 GB is manageable if you lower textures to medium settings and/or use DLSS

I do not recommend doing it if you don't know what you are doing, additionally if your laptop has an Intel processor, it is very likely that increasing GPU power consumption will cause it to throttle due to strict power controls on these CPUs (AMD is less picky about it).

Yea, you wont void a warranty just dont say it if the laptop did have an issue. Really they dont care but its best still not to tell support that when talking to them.

Realistically, using something like MSI afterburner you can try but I highly doubt you are going to get more than 5% overclock on it because laptop GPU's are heavily limited. Try increasing temp limit, power limit, and seeing if that makes it turbo any harder.

If your laptop has a good project (adequate cooling plus generous power allowance), and its firmware is programmed correctly as to avoid overcautious, unnecessary throttling, the 3050M is surprisingly tweakable:

1679339133105.png

It will run at that clock range all day as long as you leave the cooling full blast and the laptop on a cooling pad. I run ~2070 MHz daily as that's its v/f curve efficiency peak (attainable at 0.975V), but this is the highest it will bench at, shame it requires >1.0V and at that point, my laptop has trouble keeping it cool for extended periods of time. Performs very nicely for what it is, though! :D

Somehow feel that 4GB of vRAm should be sufficient on a laptop screen. Must be something else.

I mean, for a gaming laptop, not really? Mine's got a 1080p 120 Hz display. At 1080p you're only going to be running basic games with 4 GB VRAM nowadays. Which, tbh, it's fine, it's what these things are mostly made for, but the 3050M does suffer a lot for its capabilities x the low VRAM amount, IMO.

HWinfo64 sensor page should show something how much the vRAM is utilised(and GPU-Z, but cannot say I have used it much for vRAM check).

Overclocking isn't going to help if there are thermal issues causing the lag or a general lack of VRAM.

You should probably determine what is causing your lagging because a 3050 mobile GPU should be able to run most games at respectable settings without a lot of frame spikes.

I hope the laptop has a minimum of 16GB of main system memory as well because you need that as a minimum with only 4GB VRAM.

It Has 16gb Ram And Decent Specs For Me I Dont Get Why I Lags Then I Ask A Friend He Said Its Because Of The Lack Of VRAM So Here I Am After That,
Also The GPU Is Always At 6ghz (Memory Clock) Without Overclocking With Overclocking Its Normally At 4-5ghz Any Idea Why? (Cooling Isnt The Issue Its Temp Are At 30-40 Normally)

(Full Specs In System Specs)

Thermal throttling and quirks with the implementation (power limit, custom EC, etc.) would be my guess. Your laptop has the same specs as mine (5600H, 16GB, 3050M) although as stated earlier, mine is a Dell. I do not experience the reduced memory clocks, in fact, it's also slightly overclocked as well.

Just... don't expect too much out of it, these machines stop at decent, and already do more than they were ever intended to. It's a low-end gaming laptop, I'm amazed that they can do what they do already. Like I and others said in the thread: while you can get improved frame rates, it's not a game changer and it will not fix the low VRAM-induced stutter in newer games. Lower your settings, or sell the laptop and buy a faster one. There's no other way.

Hi,
If you have questions on throttlestop just ping @unclewebb

ThrottleStop doesn't apply here. It is designed for Intel CPUs, he has an AMD 5600H, and he's complaining about the graphics card's performance, not the CPU.

They have no real way to tell, so even if they tell you it "voids your warranty", as long as you have a way to get it to stock settings before you send it for warranty (just formatting is enough for software solutions like for GPU OC) there's nothing they can do, just DO NOT TELL THEM when you do a warranty claim.

As long as your don't flash the BIOS or physically modify the card, it is impossible to tell you did some overclocking.

Ok So I Overclocked My GPU To The Max Possible Which Is +300 Core And +600 Memory If I Even Go Higher By 1 It BSOD But Could A Modded Driver Fix This (XtremeG) But Yeah But My Overclock Settings Resets Everytime I Launch Minecraft,
And Also I'm In The Canary Channel In Windows Insider Does That Affect The Overclocking Or Overall Preformance If So Like How Much Percentage Of It?,
And If Anyone Is Think I Am Not Selling It Its Nice Just The GPU Is Slow And Plus Its A Normal Mid-Range Laptop So Its Cool There Isn't A Laptop At The Price I Bought It From Which Has A 3060 So Yeah Not Selling.

1. you're doing it wrong. Do not use the sliders. This is likely why you're running into problems. Reset MSI Afterburner to stock, and press Ctrl+F to bring up the curve editor. Then link the points you want in the X/Y axis, for example:

2. Do NOT use modded drivers. These are snake oil, if they were beneficial in any manner don't you think the companies would ship the drivers that way? (XtremeG for NVIDIA, NimeZ for AMD, etc.)

3. OS being beta doesn't affect anything in direct relation to this
