Yeah tbh I never expected it to come to the BIOS anyway, was geared up for the software method which has been working flawlessly for months, but now the update has landed I'd ideally like to know for sure before I update. I was hoping to rebuild windows soon and yeah, this would save me re-setting up the software.

I updated to AGESA 1208 on my B550 A-Pro Saturday morning and it was the quickest BIOS flash ever. The progress bar jumped from 25% to 48% after about 2 minutes in. No problems but MSI left Secure Boot wide open -- default "Always Execute" policy still intact ...

Had to re-enroll Ventoy's MOK Manager ...

For me it was a big update, a little longer than 1207 because it also had an LED update. I like running 1203 on my 5900X, which seems to take half the time as 1207

Anyone updated their Gigabyte X570 to the latest BIOS? Interested to hear if PBO is opened up on it for a 5800X3D, would allow me to drop the janky windows scripted undervolt method. Always keen to do hardware tweaking at the BIOS level, if possible.

I have the X570 Aorus Elite Wifi updated to the latest BIOS (F38a) and I'm doing -30 x 8 undervolt in BIOS now instead of using PBO2 Tuner. Seems to be working fine so far.

Yes, some security vulnerabilities have been patched with the latest wave of UEFI firmware.

Even if you have a non X3D CPU, you should strongly consider upgrading the motherboard UEFI. Just don't expect any performance improvements.

Just noticed a beta bios for my MSI MB - 7C02v3G1(Beta version)
- Update to AGESA ComboAm4v2PI 1.2.0.8.
- Patch Potential Security Vulnerabilities of AMD Ryzen CPUs

I hope it wont mess with my RAM OC or CO. , was hopping for some FCLK OC improvements so i wont get WHEAs @ 1900+

Updated my MSI x570s Carbon Max Wifi a week back with their latest beta bios and no issues to report. PBO settings and everything else have remained the same from 1.2.0.7.

My CPU has WHEAs if i OC FLCK @ 1900+ and ive heard some people saying on reddit that they could get WHEA free OC 1900+ with an older AGESA (older version of BIOS) but i didnt really took it serious anyway ill just give it a try after the update but i dont have any expectation for it work

Saw today they've added 1208 beta to the B450 tomahawk max few days ago, and maybe a day or so after I've updated to the 1206. Hope there will be non-beta one in a few months, as the 5800X3D might be on its way.

The "beta" tag really means nothing to all these board vendors. "Release" BIOSes are most of the time identical to when they still had the "beta" tag, and still contain the same bugs. As long as nobody reports absolutely catastrophic problems with it, they will just push the BIOS to release status. And if your board has working BIOS flashback, no reason to hesitate just because it's labelled beta over some belief that it'll brick your board.

If you want the security fixes, then just make the upgrade. If you don't care and don't care about fTPM, then 1206 has still yet to be dethroned as offering best performance (generally) for 5800X3D.

It doesn't matter if they are strictly the same file or not. I can't really say for sure for ASRock, but Asus, MSI and Gigabyte literally do not care. Release BIOSes have never conferred any sort of benefit over betas in terms of stability/performance/being bug-free.

It seems they rely heavily on a) an adequate number of people who are willing to test beta bioses on their expensive personal hardware and b) that those people will report any issues they encounter instead of just rolling back a previous version and giving MSI/ASUS/whoever no input.

This should be done by employees, not consumers. A bios update should only be released if it was rigorously tested and proved to be reliable. It's not a hecking game where they can release alpha and beta versions smh.

I guess if you want a little more granularity for Curve Optimizer, being able to use CO itself rather than Kombostrike in increments of 10 could be a plus. But there's nothing else of note.

Welcome to the AGESA feature update model.

Even if users provide feedback, things also generally have to be really bad in the beta before board vendor will be motivated to change the release version. Add to that the fact that major AGESA updates are rolled out in one wave, in basically the same BIOS slightly adapted to many different boards, but since individual boards behave differently, it's a slim chance that bugs are fixed.

(tried to go higher FLCK or/and lower CO values with same results i had with AGESA 1.2.0.7), everything seems stable with no issues , i am using the same OC settings ive used with the previous bios and i am getting the same performance.
