I am using 1.2.0.8 beta now on B450 tomahawk max , no changes from the last bios, same options in bios and same OC behavior. (tried to go higher FLCK or/and lower CO values with same results i had with AGESA 1.2.0.7), everything seems stable with no issues , i am using the same OC settings ive used with the previous bios and i am getting the same performance.
Which CPU? Can't see your specs.

It seems they rely heavily on a) an adequate number of people who are willing to test beta bioses on their expensive personal hardware and b) that those people will report any issues they encounter instead of just rolling back a previous version and giving MSI/ASUS/whoever no input.

This should be done by employees, not consumers. A bios update should only be released if it was rigorously tested and proved to be reliable. It's not a hecking game where they can release alpha and beta versions smh.

Years ago, ABIT would only release Test/Beta BIOSes in a hidden forum. Registered users had to show proof of being able to recover from a bad flash or a bad BIOS in the form of having an EEPROM programmer or BIOS Savior device (a device that would install inside the BIOS chip socket and effectively give any computer a Dual BIOS with a physical toggle switch on a PCI bracket). We had loads of fun bricking and recovering our boards ...

EDIT: Looks like X470 is getting 1708 ... :D

I would be careful with this, though. The X470 has an awfully HIGH brick rate with M-Flash and I can't count how many times I read X470 users bitching up a storm over M-Flash bricking their boards every time they flash and having to use BIOS Flashback to recover, and the general consensus is the only way to reliably flash any MSI X470 board is with their "unsupported" UEFI Shell BIOS Tool. Using this method requires Secure Boot to be disabled though since the EFI Loader is unsigned ...

Damn, still no update for my mobo.
MSi released 1.2.0.8 a few weeks ago for the B450M Mortar Max, updated mines.

Seems to better for WHEA at higher MCLK / FCLK. I don't need to adjust VSOC or IOD anymore to be WHEA free @ 1933 FCLK like with older BIOS versions.

are there any reviews out there showing how much performance is gained with 5800x3d with this bios vs old bios? just curious

Seems the latest version of Ryzen Master is the issue, got it back to defaults ... so far so good.

your CO isnt stable.

Run y cruncher a couple of hours, you'll get the same restart on the old bios

It didnt change anything for my chip , exactly same behavior , does DrvStr RAM settings have any impact on the FLCK OC? I can still boot 4000mhz+ but same story WHEAs, at this point i will stick with CL14 3733Mhz even if i can go higher anyway. Ill give it a try without CO / AutoOC to see if it makes any difference with this new AGESA, in Even Viewer it shows something like the Core 0 (only) produces the WHEAs (Processor APIC ID: 0) but i dont think its relevant, is it possible to disable core 0 (just for the sake of testing)? - edit: i think i could just set affinity in windows.

Yes, and it is often different for each frequency step. You can have wildly different config between 3800MHz and 4000MHz.

Just updated since there's a proper (not beta) bios for my mobo. Kombo Strike is still there but now voltage curve is unlocked, strange that it's unlocked for positive offset the 5800x3d is supposed to be locked for overvolting for good reason, overvolting kills the x3D.

I just set -15 on all cores, I find it performs better than with -30, also still getting whea's over 1900fclk even though I can use up to 2033fclk

For some reason this AGESA is setting CLDO VDDP to 1.0979v (higher than SOC v), if i remember right it was under 1v before, is it normal? Does it have any impact on temps / performance?

You can manualyl adjust it to 0.8V to 0.9V. it usually the same on my board when I used high MCLK it always sets CLDO too high.

For WHEA errors you usually need to increase VSOC, IOD. Still not able to get 2000 FCLK fully stable but the WHEA erros are far less than it was before.

Well if it doesnt have any impact on performance / temps i prefer to leave it on auto, it works fine with 0.9v if i manually set it , the last bios was setting it high sometimes too but after a reboot it was going 0.98v or something , weird. (changing it didnt do anything for FLCK OC)

I would go with 5800X3D especially if your gaming assuming UEFI/BIOS support. Either way it's a huge difference from a 2600.

Looks like

Maybe ill actually updaste my X570S Aorus Master now. Planning to upgrade to Win 11 soon too, so might as well do it all>

Im expecting to have to redo all my settings. Anyone know of the EDC "bug" is present in these 1.2.0.8? Im starting to wonder if the EDC thing reported from 1.2.0.7 is not actually a bug, but functioning as AMD intended.
Yep, can confirm the EDC "bug" for 3000 series still there, running on 3700X in 2 scenarious Profile 3800 and 3744Mhz with 4x8 Vipers GearON 1T rock stable!

MSI has been getting reports of instability on the B450 by those with the Ryzen 3000 Series whenever they flash beyond AGESA 1205 while only a few report improvement with 1206c.

The Tomahawk is their flagship board. They're gonna take their sweet ass time.

It works just fine on Tomahawk MAX 1208 released a month ago or so.
