No it was not

Really weird. Possibly intended to be used as part of a full set, then, without which the wheel alone is useless. Did you get to write down the model number?

Yeah, I filed a complaint on the website. The seller has until Tuesday to accept or they'll intervene. It's great that we have buyer protection for things like this, I suppose. It's a shame, I was quite enthusiastic about it, even broke out my pristine Japanese copy of GTA Vice City to test the unit... but it didn't even power on

It was seller-refurbished, so my best guess is this unit had problems with the power supply, which was serviced, tested working for a while and put up for sale. Except that when it arrived here, knocks during shipping or whatever, it was no longer functional. Shame. I'll keep you posted on how it develops, but I suppose this is where my dream of owning the original Japanese PS2 ends.
I agree - Seems to be a power supply issue BUT if it was sold as a working unit, then it should be.
Sounds like you've got this handled.

Too bad the seller or you can't do a thing about how it was handled during shipping which may be the root of the problem but then again, without opening up the unit you don't know and that would invalidate your claim if you did.

They've accepted the return, I just gotta take it to the mail tomorrow, and the site will refund me.

It's a shame. It was packed well and in excellent condition. I'm not sure I can blame the seller at all. Had the console been cheap (it wasn't), I'd not bother returning and would try to source a power supply board from Aliexpress, but at the price I paid I wanted a fully working console.

I can always try again sometime in the future, but time has very much run against these SCPH-10000 units... They will become more and more collectible and those in very good to perfect condition pricier and pricier as time goes on.

I hope you find another one later.

If it were me I'd actually fix it and be done with it, those units will only get harder to find and more expensive too when you do find them.

And so they should. :) Thats what i thought if it had been cheap that is.If someone says it is working it should work.

He paid for something that should have worked.Like he said if it was a lot cheaper than he would not have sent it back.

Already covered that point and do agree, if it was supposed to work then it should work "As Is".
He's doing what he needs to do - I'm just hoping this part goes well for him.
