eeeer. someone posted this morning exactly everything you need to know with download links and howto.
i mean
there s really everything you need, it came with this morning's coffee at breakfast.

ps : you need to click "expand" to see the whole thing.

edit : getting PCI 4.0 NVMe (7000GB/s) is kind of a waste because the PCI 2.0 will cap around 1.8GB/s on the x16 slot. which is not bad at all. max you can get is 2.6GB/s with 2 nvme and raid 0 (not recommanded because Raid0 isnt safe, the speed improvement is not 100%, and PCIex bandwith will be monopolized for the disks, unsure how a graphic card will run in this conditions)

I will be happy to help since we have the exact same mb and i already modded. It will be easy will will take it on step at at time.

BIOS not modded yet. After reviewing this whole thread, it looks like the HW IDs I quoted were not added to one of the BIOSes for the mobo we own yet. I already have the new nvme device in-hand. Again it was my bad for jumping the gun on buying the device before reading the whole thread fully and also being a few months late to the party here after Ishmael stopped taking requests to mod more bios variants, but I will hope that someone who can still mod it will return. If Ishmael or hnxphong come back, or someone else who is competent in bios modding, it would be awesome.

I'm also open to learning how to implement this mod as well but don't know where to start since this thread didn't include a "how to" for BIOS modding on x58. Not to sound ungrateful of course for the awesome work Ishmael did though!

Worst case, I figure I can use DUET to boot my system using the new drive which will still give my aging 256GB sata hdd a job as a bootloader drive.
Alright, we have the same Asus P6X58D Premium mb. I have already modded mine so we will walk through the steps together.

that might have not been seen as it is in the "expand" section of the post in question.

so basically there are all the tools needed.

i kept a copy on my NAS in case files disappear.

Hey Panda. First of all Thanks that you (and others) keeps this thread alive - And helping others to understand what this is all about.

Regarding "Max possible NVMe Data Rate on X58 with PCIe 2.0" - Check these posts (in this order):

It's poven that with an ASM2824 PCIe switch (like the PEX8M2E2) its possible to use 8x PCIe 2.0 with only one NVMe (non-raid) - This max out at 3400 something :)

mmmmh now i remember i red those posts before, late at night. not good to read late at night, memory doesnt print correctly the information.
The PEX8M2E2 is kind of expensive, he'll be last on the list, right after the 6x4GB corsair and depending on how the X5675 will be hot or not, another cpu cooler.

thanks for the memory refresh. But still, putting a 7000GB/s on it is still not an optimal move :)

Welcome to my world :toast:

I would now better go with Corsairs 3x8GB (Dual Ranks) to get 24GB - My setup with Corsair 2133 6x4GB (Dual Ranks) is limiting high BCLKs. But because I already had 3x4 I decided some years ago to buy another set of used 3x4GB (same build and same Corsair ID 4.13 Samsung ICs). My Board/CPU max out at approx 190 with 6x4GB. But with 180 I can run very thight timings with the great RAM.

But anyway. Running 180 now and my X5675 runs 25x180 @ 4500 MHz (with Turbo on one Core 4680 - kicks in only seldom) at LinpackXtreme stable with 1,396 VCPU (10 runs 8 GB - I dont not run more that 10 anymore! - Beside this some MemTest5 and Karhu Testing).

My Temp is currently (with open case and max 1800rpm on fans with VERY old Prolimatech Megahalems (Rev1) Cooler) max 85°C on Tcores. Thats the hell of a stress to the CPU... :)
Thats not the best CPU but I'm still happy to reach 4500 "under or at" 1.4 VCORE. Some golden CPUs may reach 4500 with only 1.35 VCore.
Normal 100% CPU usage (Video decoding and stuff) will be around 75°C - but with closed case.... Which is fine.

With only 3x4GB I can run much highter BCLK. But I prefer 24GB RAM compared to 12GB.

The X5675 was installed just a few weeks ago (had the little X5650 before).
Today I will put on the FUMA 2 cooler (old Revision - NOT B as this is not 1366 compatible anymore) and see how he can handle the temps and wattage :)

Yep, I'm aware that it's a PCI-e 2.0 mobo. I got a pretty good deal for the 2TB model (~$80 USD) and I figured that I'm within a year or two of building a new PC, at which point I'll either use this drive for the new machine and downgrade the x58 machine's storage, or just get a newer one with PCIe 5.0. Either way, no regerts.

Thanks, I will have some more time over the next few days to concentrate on this and will follow up soon.

Hi guys
I need help

My X58-USB3 board rejected all modified bios
(the original flashes fine)
qflash and dos tool send "Invalid BIOS image"

for:
1) Ismail's bios
2) my attempt to extract the necessary bin from another Ismail bios and insert it into the original bios
3) inserting the modified samsung950.bin into the original bios according to the instructions here on the forum

I also tried different usb flash drives

I'm out of ideas now

Try flashing with Gigabyte @ BIOS for X58

Hello
One message for Ga-X58-USB3 owners who are not getting Ismail's Bios working.
I exported the modules from Ismail's F5c and imported them into the original Gigabyte F3 bios
And it works, the bios detects the disk
I am able to install Win and it looks fine

You have to flash through the original F3, if you have F5, go back to F3
That's the best I can do (BFU)

My old hero has risen :)

I had the same thing with the Ga-X58-USB3
My solution:
Use Cbrom to extract bin (the same name as your vendor and dev id) from ismail's bios

Cbrom X58AUD7.FD /pci extract

Now enter the letter for the select module

Next, put it in the older bios from the gigabyte website

cbrom X58AUD7.F? /pci namemodule.bin

This works for my board because the new bios don't have important features

When the required module is not in any Ismail bios You can try to make it according to the instructions here

opromcfg.exe NvmeOpRom.bin vedor_id device_id

and then import it to older gigabyte bios
(The last don't work for me, but you can try it)

I use Cbrom195, it is for download somewhere
Flashed from usb key with qflash from bios
No @bios from win is neded

Do you extract module from ismails bios an import it to gigabyte original FA?

Try it
Made from NvmeOpRom.bin for 15b7 501A
Unfortunately, that's all I can do

14 days ago I don't know that the bios can be modified :)

If I flashing with bios-qflash It warn for checksum before
but flashing is ok
(for my board, I have no way test with UD3)

So, the bios can be flashed, but it doesn't find nvme?
Is the disk visible in the system? / Can it be formatted and used as storage?
if yes, the problem is probably in the bios
if not, maybe there is a problem with the HW
I would probably borrow another nvme disk and then the adapter as well
Different bios must be made for the new device

system freeze 75% with nvme on

As mentioned in this thread several times please try to disable as much as possible of the integrated peripherals.
For testing remove as much as possible of your other HDDs/SSDs - Better to remove them all for testing... Test with ONLY NVMe in PCIe slot.

"75" is an BIOS code which reports that something with attached drives is not OK.

Set BIOS like in picture. for testing.
