yes, i understand. the point is i have absolutely no idea how to "link" the nvme mod to the bios.

Ismail did know how to do it. I dont. And.... well, unless someone reading this message knows and can teach us, that s it.

changing the drive id is easy, it s a simple hex patch. but i have no clue on how to make a mod recognized and "active" in an existing bios, i lack the knowledge. The OP knew but real life matters (earthquake) made it so he couldnt continue the job.

I know there is another forum, where "Fernando" was posting modded bios for Raid / Intel Sata matters, where people do patch UEFI bios for nvme support. Maybe you can ask there so someone explains you how to do it, or maybe, will do it. But here..... no one is that much specialized.

goodluck
You can use mmtool or cbrom mod your bios.
It is not only easy to use but also alot of fun.

wow. way too expensive for just 1TB.

that s 300€. Switched Adapters cost 130 to 180€. I wish i could find under 100€

hello chuckbam

you are missing a step. those Bios have some references of most popular drives, but not all (way too many)
so you ll need to have fun as stated 2 posts ago, and follow Catup's guide (cf signature)

you ll need basically :

to identify the reference of the drive (Hex codes through device manager)
extract one of the mod
patch the hexa values with an editor
repack the mod

Catup did a fine guide, if you get lost, ask, we'll be there to help

----

yuhdiing :

it sounds easy but something holds me back concerning modifying a bios in blind mode (without having the hardware to test it), it s a question of responsability for the person who might brick their motherboard if i screwed up.

but if you have a few links to explain things, i'm all in. I thought it was more than "just adding the mod" to the bios and that some deeper modification of the base bios was needed, but in fact i dont really know. so if you have some links to share, go on, i'm interested, many others will be too.

Thanks for the reply,
I am not going to do any repack mod.
So it is the model of my drive? Could I just use a different NVMe drive? I could buy a different drive one day.
If so, any suggestions on a new drive that will work with this bios as it is?
I am happy I put it in. Even if it will not be used as a boot drive. That 600P drive has been in a drawer a year or so.

Hello,
I cannot answer this question, i have no asus motherboard and limited knowledge concerning mmtool. you will have to dig in the bios to get this answer.

edit : the bios is listed as tested, so it means someone did flash successfully and did post in this forum that it worked. usually people said which drive they used for testing. this must be found early pages.

Looking at the first page, one day, I may try a Samsung Evo 970 Plus NVMe MZVLB500HBJQ MZ-V7S500. I think I have one in a different system.

acting without precautions will not lead to good results, just loss of time, the same time you can not spend to check before, you will lose it doing something that will not work.

but i understand, when you dont have enough time, you cant magically create some.

I just purchased a Western Digital WDC PC SN530 SDBPNPZ-256G-1006 (FW: HPS2).
It was $21 on Amazon for a new drive.
It is shown on post one. I will let you know if the bios see it.

Is that without the BIOS modded?

But will that drive Post without the modded BIOS?
No

Post #1 is the modded bios. And following, drives that the author used to prove that it works. It appears, that those drives are coded to work with the bios mod. People use the repack mod to make it functional for more drives. I flashed the bios posted in post #1. Everything went smooth.

Quick update about X58-UD5 (non A model) that SirJB uses. We have a functionnal bios that was tested successfully. As i cannot edit the 1st post i ll probably link it in my signature and make a post with the bios file hosted "here". Last weeks/days were very demanding so i didnt take the time to do that, but i will. So if someone has a X58-UD5, there is a solution. Will probably post this weekend.

P6T Deluxe/ lTPC_Hastanesi bios Mod

I used the Catup's guide and added the Intel 600p. And it worked
But, I had to unplug the computer and re-set the bios with every re-boot. ChatGPT said: "People report that the 600p is buggy as a boot drive with the ismailTPC_Hastanesi bios".
The 600p works fine as a storage drive
I posted the extracted bios into ChatGPT, and it said the vendor ID and device for the Western Digital WDC PC SN530 SDBPNPZ-256G-1006 (FW: HPS2) is in there.
Either way, I can edit if needed. I will have one tomorrow.

  • Vendor ID (VEN): 1179 (Western Digital)
  • Device ID (DEV): 2263 (Specific to SN530)
Edited 12-2-24 8:47 AM. This Vendor ID (VEN) and Device ID is probably wrong. Drive is sourced from Sandisk Corp

ChatGPT said: "People report that the 600p is buggy as a boot drive with the ismailTPC_Hastanesi bios".

i dont know if you are serious, is it a joke ?

i doubt anyone has ever reported anything concerning the 600p and this bios mod.

You were surely the first. so somewhere, the sentence can stand, if you replace "people" by "the one user that just fed me this information".

dont forget, that s no AI, it s just a data grabber. please show me data of people complaining of the Intel 600P. Please :) :) :)

No joke. Go on ChatGPT and ask yourself. The Intel 600p was a very popular drive for over a year.
"People report that the 600p is buggy as a boot drive with the ismailTPC_Hastanesi bios".
Everything I said is 100% true

you gave ChatGPT the data, he gave you _your_ answer.

Intel sold over 20 million 600p drives during 2016 and 2017
The 600p series was part of Intel's effort to capture the mainstream NVMe market starting in 2016, competing on cost and performance for consumer-grade storage.
It was widely available through retail and OEM channels

those are the drives in the P6T Bios

there s an error trying to unpack the P6T-DLX but i doubt the content was much different.

again, no Asus here, so cant test much of anything. if you can display the list of the modules in the rom you are using, please paste the list here, i dont have all the MMTool versions on my computer, and wont spend time looking for the one who can unpack correctly the DLX version of the P6T mod.

do not believe blindly everything chatgpt says

edit : i understand what you say. i m just saying this is a niche activity so even ONE person saying 'i have a problem with ismail's bios and intel 600" will make it an absolute truth in the eyes of ChatGPT. This "AI" relies on statistics. And there are way, WAY too few cases of this situation to make it a "truth"

Go on ChatGPT and ask about the ismailTPC_Hastanesi bios
The ismailTPC_Hastanesi bios is on forums world-wide. Not just here.

this is for the P6T DLX _v2_ bios. 2263 1119 does NOT show anywhere.

listen, i m trying to help here, but you obviously get more quality advices from a machine. so, go buy the western digital you quoted, and, tell us how it works ? and if it doesnt, ask ChatGPT for help ?
