As seeing people coming here for help here with ex-mining GPU's...
Ex-mining GPU's have mostly be messed/tempered with, resulting in all sorts of issues when trying to use for dekstop gaming....

Bios crossflashing would be my biggest worry yeah.

Currently I'm on my third second hand GPU and so far non of them died on me and worked just fine.
At most I had to do is repaste the card after a few months but other than that they worked with no actual issues and I ended up selling them in a working condition when I upgraded.

My RX 570 was admitedly a miner card for ~6 months in 2018 before that mining craze died out but since the card still had retail warranty I didn't care + the seller was honest at least and sent me the card all cleaned out/with the original bios.
I've used that card for almost 3 years until I sold it, then I had a supposedly gamer past GTX 1070 that wasn't in any better condition but it worked with no issues anyway.

My current RTX 3060 Ti has a questionable past but it was in a mint condition when I got it and the seller gave me 1 year warranty so I was like whatever, I did repaste it earlier this year just to be sure and when I took it apart the pads were in a perfect condition and I found no weird colored spots or anything weird on the PCB. 'no rattling fans or anything like that either'

In not so wealthy countries buying second hand hardware is a common thing and when it comes to GPUs thats my go to place for years now, brand new is just way too expensive around here.

That being said, I would only buy second hand hardware from a seller that has some positive history on the second hand site or if I can check it out in person. 'I did check out my GTX 1070 in person before buying it'
Also, having at least a bit of warranty left on the carrd or given by the seller is a good thing to have.

2 months of mining is like 1 year or normal use. Unless you know it was only used at 60% power and good cooling, I would avoid any mining card.

That said no matter what used GPU you buy OP, look for one from a seller with a good reputation.
Ideally find a card that's still in warranty, and if the seller acccepts returns even better.

I'd figure buying a 1080ti now would be a waste of money -- even at 1440p. The unenhanced version of Metro:Exodus was something my 1080ti could barely handle at 1440p, but thanks mostly to Gsync's ability to handle low FPS, it scraped by. In Control I had to upscale from 1080p or it would also drop to the low 40's when there were large number of debris flying through the air and on the ground. My vote goes to 2080ti.

Correct, if you're a miner and you aren't limiting power budget then you have no idea what you're doing. The whole equation is cost (electricity) vs return (eth).

A power limited card runs super cool, only the memory is anywhere near stressed, and except for outliers like double sided 3090 memory chip placement, typically the memory is still cool.

Some sellers will say the honest truth in how the 2080ti was used. You would have to get the 2080ti in your hands to see if it was mined on, does the fans have a heavy layer of dirt or a burnt smell. Some others will be dishonest and say what ever to sell a graphics card. You cant really tell the 100% history of any GPU.

I would go with a new AMD card in the price range but depends what your local country has in stock.

I know what I'm talking about, I have mined on over 100 GPUs. I've had my entire apartment filled with about 60gpu's trying to find the perfect match so I wont pop the breaker box. I was one of the miners that didnt care about power throttling the GPUs that much, I put all my GPUs at 90%. I live in a area with cheap power. I've had 16 GPUs at my girlfriends house, and the rest at a friend's house. I was mostly mining ETH and ZEC.

It really depends on what type of coin you are mining, ETH liked to used higher memory speeds. ZEC liked higher core speeds. I was personnaly mining about 90% eth, 10% zec (zcash).

Never buy a "miner card"! First, they don't deserve your money and 2nd it's most likely totally worn out. The used market right now it really messed up. They either charge so much that it makes more sense to get a new card or if they are cheap they are worn out miner cards. I would buy a new AMD card, they got competitive prises right now. The 1080ti is just a no-go, I think it's that old that it even dropped out of Nvidia driver support.

Also "2 months mined" he said. Never trust a word from a miner. They just wanna get rid of their their cards for the most a dummy is willing to pay them. It most likely mined for years.

Miners keep temperatures and voltages low to offset power draw and degradation.
100% the mined card.

It's not only about temperatures & voltages. Mining doesn't actually tax the GPU much, but it's totally wearing out the RAM on the GPU. That's why miner cards got discolored (burned) memory chips and often start artifacting when you try to play a game on it. Seen miners sandpapering and painting memory chips to cover it up. Some even DIY replace the memory chips. They do everything to somehow get rid of their trash. Just look at the following guy, he's even "powerwashing" the cards.

I want to mention,i never heard about KFA Galax company at video card segment.They are ghost company? Is better choice Asus Dual Fan than KFA Galax?

Not only are Galax/KFA2 a reputable AIB partner but they also make excellent GPUs, including extreme OC models such as the OC Lab and Hall of Fame series. They're not a ghost company, in fact they're enormous and very popular in Asia, Europe and Brazil, but the brand never made inroads in the North American market, so most US-based buyers don't know the company.

I can recommend them and have owned a Hall of Fame GTX 980 in the past. Great card, it performed and clocked 1:1 with my EVGA Kingpin. I actually ran them in SLI for a while.

Agreed, this is my policy as well and the only sensible advice unless you have money to throw into the wind in the event that it does not work.

Mining GPUs, by the time they're being sold, often if not always have hidden defects or pre-failure symptoms.

The notion that mining GPUs are well cared for, always clean and run with an AC, at stable load and temperatures is BS spread on forums by miners who wanted to prevent gamer interest from dwindling once their tools were spent.

Nah, the 4090 released after the mining craze died.

I literally couldn't sell my 3090 after it, because pretty much everyone just assumes that launch date 3090 = mining slave, at the absolute height of the last ETH craze, my 3090 model was selling for almost $5000 USD equivalent here in Brazil. Reality is quite different, I treated this card like a baby, but I can't prove that, so naturally I'm unwilling to part with it for mined trash prices that most 3090s fetch on the used market nowadays.

That said, if you have an acquaintance you know treated their card well, and they're willing to take $600-700 for it, my only advice is "buy it"; it's pretty much immune to the low-VRAM problems of the 3080 and 4070 Ti's and it still pushes pixels quite well.

Even those with so called good reputations have tried duping people. I bought what was supposedly a "New Open Box" Netgear D7000 Nighthawk AC1900 xDSL Gateway from some dimwit in Tennessee on ebay that had a 100% Rating. I sent a message asking for a tracking number anticipating it within a day, after 2 days He didn't reply, I got ebay involed and not 24 hours later I get a tracking number with no message reply from the asshole. I got the modem way late outside of its promised delivery date (asshole's fault) noticed it had tons of dust in the vents, scratch ontop and the power adapter had paint pen on it and the ethernet cord had the wrong color twist tie and a broken tab on the RJ45 plug. It would train and drop constantly. I called him out on it with a negative rating, which knocked him down to 85% and got my money back. I then bought the same modem brand new for $30 less out of Italy and it got to me within the promised delivery date, plus it was the revised model that could be used on an ONT. Had no dust and everything was new.

So I can only truly suggest a Brand New 6800XT or better at this rate and like @Solaris17 stay the hell away from mined cards.

This is why eBay has buyer protection, and it is very much favoring buyers by the way vs the sellers - same with PayPal.

You got burned online once, so has just about everyone at one point or another.
The few times it happened to me was of course frustrating (I don't buy from non-established sellers either), but eBay/PayPal made it right.

What was far more frustrating was having things go south as a seller...

I had someone claim a package was never delivered (it was); the dispute was open with eBay for nearly a month and I ultimately had to get a claim from UPS.
Another person claimed a gift card I sold didn't work, immediate refund and loss to me no help from eBay or PayPal.

Buying anything used involves a certain level of risk.
That risk can be mitigated to an extent though if you buy something in warranty, from a reputable seller and on a platform with buyer protection.

There's nothing wrong with preferring to buy new, I do myself with most things.
Just because it's a preference though, doesn't mean buying used is a near guaranteed burn for someone on a budget.

1. How long do you want to keep this graphics card?
2. Can you afford another outright if anything goes wrong?
3. Are you adept at refurbishing hardware?
4. Is an assurance of reliability a must for you? (i.e. you don't want to deal with crashes, having to lower clocks below stock, etc.)

If:

1. = short term
2. = yes
3. = I can fix the thing blindfolded
4. = no

Then buy the miner 2080 Ti. If the answer to either of these is negative, then avoid it as it's not a purchase considered expendable. Like I said on my first reply; the RX 6700 XT will perform very similarly to the RTX 2080 Ti and is also able to be found for $300 brand new. It's just not an Nvidia branded GPU, as if that really mattered end of the day.

I don't want 6700xt and I want to switch to green camp,im tired of red camp,because red camp always have poor optimized drivers.I owned this Fury X since 2016...and for me is enough.This card stopped production of drivers,and gtx 980Ti which is same generation like Fury X still have drivers up to date.That/s why i want to go on green camp
