I tried Assassin's Creed III tonight, already beat it once on launch day, but I wanted to play the remastered version. In graphics settings on PC, it lets you change to 2560x1440 165hz, to match my monitor, set it, reboot the game. shows in settings it stuck.

ok so you think in game you would get over 60 fps right? nope, you get 63 fps. regardless if cutscene or gameplay. WHY DO YOU LET PEOPLE HAVE THE OPTION TO CHANGE REFRESH RATE IF IT DOESN'T WORK

fml, I can't stand these game developers sometimes. if it wasn't for steam deck and indie devs, I may have given up on gaming.
Hey this is Ubisoft, the company that once posited 30 FPS is the best way to play games because cinematic experience hurr durr

I'm fixing to start Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares (1996). I played the first one back in the day but never had a chance to play this one. From everything that I've seen over the years I expect this game is going to be a heck of a lot of fun.

I am starting to play more of the Total War games, well mostly the early Total War games like Rome total war and Empire total war. I'll try shogun, I never really got into it.

Kinda strange, I like Empire total war more than Napoleon. I liked that Empire's map is much bigger.

same I have felt that way ever since they came out. Napoleon has always felt off, and I am not sure why.

It only applies to me,
Its the main generals in Napoleon that are super strong. The Napoleon general is super strong, like fighting the last boss. Same thing when playing the French, the British general is super strong. Its the 1st Total war franchise game that does that, I dont personally like it.

Shogun... start with the first. Make sure you turn on audio and especially the music at a good volume. It has a magical vibe to it, Zen indeed.
Shogun 2 then is truly next level, as well, and its expansions even have a whole separate unit roster / time frame & history.

I'll have to get shogun 2 in another method since I dont have it. Which one is better, 1 or 2.

2 is more game, but 1 is extremely elegant even if it has less variety. You won't have much to see in 1 though if you play 2 first, so I recommend starting at 1 ;) Its also nice to get into 2 with the perspective of 1, it builds nicely on the mechanics of the first.

Shogun 2 shouldn't cost much, 5 eur gets you the whole package on sale easily. (check keysites)

I dove into AoW Planetfall myself, awaiting and warming up for when AoW4 goes on sale. Its actually better than I had first thought, played it before and it didn't stick with me, but it might actually do that now.

Shogun 2 is one of the most immersive in the series. Get the Radious Mod and have all ninja or Warrior Monk armies.

Just finished Quake and all the extensions ( the last one : Dimension of the Machine, by Machine Games, the guys behind of Wolfenstein : The New Order )
It was really great, a blast from the past, especially the 2 last extensions who are on par with the original game.
The 2 others extentions (mission pack 1 et 2 : Scourge of Armagon & Dissolution of Eternity) were ok, no more.
Seriously, you should consider theses (Dimension of the Past & Dimension of the Machine) if you are on the retro shooter trip.

Two years ago I celebrated Quake's 25th anniversary by playing through the original game and its two official expansions, as well as some popular third-party map packs:

Abyss of Pandemonium
Beyond Belief
Dimension of the Past
The Myths
Travail

I loved every minute of it! I used the Epsilon Builds, which is a complete graphics overhaul with 99% vanilla gameplay. Still need to try Dimension of the Machine.

unleashing Lilith intro cinematic is actually pretty cool looking imo. it leaves a lot up to the imagination of what will happen in the story as well, so I am excited to see where it goes. Since Lilith created Sanctuary out of love not hatred, with the Angel Inarius, I don't know the whole story of Lilith just yet, but I think I am going to enjoy this campaign overall, That being said $70 is a bit steep for me, so I will probably wait for a free weekend in a couple years to just blitz the campaign if Blizz lets me.

I found Rogue to be really hard last beta, probably a lot of fun once you get some better gear, but the early levels were difficult for me on Rogue. probably means its a lot of fun at higher levels though.

i like lunging with my spear as barbarian, it just has a nice animation to it

I have no idea what you're on about. I just clicked Start Game and the game is trying to do Introduction gameplay at me. A world in despair. Grim Dawn did that brilliantly, but that is not the brilliance of Diablo.

And a mini map with Icons? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

And oh I entered an area and the suggested level is displayed next to the name, NOOOOOOOOOOO

Ok so now I've gotten to that story and it doesn't feel very Diablo at all.

Welcome to modern gaming I guess?
Its been known for quite some time that D4 has MMO elements built in it, thats pretty ahem 'normal' nowadays in open world/online games.

Dunno D4's world/story idea is definitely a step up from D3 at least, btw the world/sanctuary is in despair cause Malthael in D3's expansion did a number on the population and killed a lot of ppl so now everything is kind of messed up.

I found Rogue to be really hard last beta, probably a lot of fun once you get some better gear, but the early levels were difficult for me on Rogue. probably means its a lot of fun at higher levels though.

Yeah Rogue is a bit more tactical at least on lower levels, I'm going with a melee/dagger throw build and I have to stab/impale enemies then dash through them so that the returning daggers damage all of those on the way back.'its one of the better low lvl builds supposedly'
Also the drop rates are much lowered to their supposed rate, last time it was boosted so that ppl could experiment with Legendary powers/mechanics and whatnot.
