The TPU UK Clubhouse

Well - guy came out at about 8:30am - our physical line is fine at our end. Gave us a new router anyway.

Our line dropped again at 10:15am (ish) for 5 minutes (wife working from home was kicked from another call). I checked down detector to see this:

Oh look - a bunch of reports when I had my issues.

At this point, I want to strangle the guy in charge of Virgin's networking and technical division. Chief clown of bumbletown.

Coincidentally having our boiler servciced and the guy who's doing it told me his mum is having the same issues for a few weeks now.

And here I was, complaining that TalkTalk increased my monthly price by 4 quid just a month after I signed their contract. I guess it could be worse. :(

this is very true, I often enjoy those days when it comes time to clean a bit. i tape wet wipes and wipe off the dust of each individual fan blade too.

I take very good care of my stuff

Talking of therapeutic cleaning and dust. I have a black desk that attracts dust.... i have OCD with it and it drives me mad.

These wet wipes from sainsburys do me well, for a few days.... I also drag them through the keys on my keyboard.

I need to find some real anti-static spray tho.

talking about cleaning lol.... therapeutic or not i'm a lazy baasterd. A tiny regret with going for an all-white build with the dust monsters bravely flaunting their shit in wide open view. For full cleaning, i admit once you get into it (nooks and crannies incl), holy crap you get a little too into it. Mines up for a full clean. A free stress relieving therapeutic session available for anyone if interested (AUSWOLF?? hehe)

well I'd love to see London, so let me sleep on your couch for free for a week and I would be happy to do it. :toast:

my relatives will let me stay two months with them this summer.

this is all assuming i can find a cheap flight though, which probably won't happen.

Let me introduce you to a slice of UK life.

::EDIT::

And then theres this. 100% factual.

I never saw that part of the UK honestly, my relatives in England are very wealthy, like multi-millionaire type wealthy. They don't share with me though, haha (I wouldn't expect them to, just saying)

It's funny what money does to people though, and on the other side of that coin its funny what no money does to people... balance in everything like Aristotle said...

@the54thvoid if you want to make a lot of money in your retirement, you should look into setting up a small air conditioner company, with climate pattern shifts incoming, everyone in the UK is going to be begging for an air con unit of some kind in the coming years (this is my guess anyway) maybe 3d printers can make custom fitting air con units for the unique window sizes in the UK? I don't know.

When I was in southern England last July during the heat wave, fuck it was brutal. Only reason I thought of this now is because I just installed my air con unit preparing for summer. I feel much nicer now, I was sweating in here earlier today typing. I honestly don't know how people live without air conditioning (where I live I mean... but also 'future UK')

Coincidently I do the same thing, But with a really old pack of wet wipes that i've found that are now 'dry-wipes' - I few pumps of hand sanitiser on them rehydrates them and this is great because the sanitiser evaporates after you've wiped everything down. the dried out wipes can be re-used a few more times before I throw them away as they look pretty nasty by that stage.

Unfortunately my G502 Spectrum has finally developed the double click issue. I could order new switches for £10-15 off ebay and do a DIY repair or I can buy a new mouse for £50-60. I honestly dont want to spend the £50-60.

Ive always bought logitech products but this double click issue seems to span MANY MANY products over MANY MANY years.

More typical brit stuff.

The false image falls fast.

This is why the cop don't chase, all Brits fall on their face.

My relatives said I can stay six weeks, I confirmed yesterday. Problem is flights have doubled/closer to tripled in price compared to previous years, so sadly I don't see myself going. What a fucking shit show the world is turning in to. inflation has ruined so many lives, and changed so many alternate timelines for people, i don't think people in power understand this kind of shit.

I am not giving up though, I still haven't tried skyscanner website and a few others to go as well.

they just clap their hands at the elden ring faith build, useless

I'm in a similar situation. My parents invited me and the missus to have a holiday together in Greece. We did it last year and it was awesome, but we can't go this year because of the flight ticket prices.

The government is so damn proud of the near-10% increase in the national minimum wage, but what good is it when prices of everything have doubled?

even if you sacrifice luggage and travel super light, (wear like 3 shirts on the plane) no carry on, and just borrow clothes from your friends/relatives temporarily while down there, ryanair should still be affordable. getting to stanstead is a nightmare though, so eh megabus might get you to stanstead cheaply, i don't know, its been awhile since i checked.

its not ideal, but ryanair isn't a horrible option if you are willing to go to extremes on the luggage as mentioned above. though i haven't checked ryanair in over two years, so i may be wrong.

for me, it would be worth the sacrifice to be on a greece holiday, sounds lovely. no ryanair transatlantic flights though, so not an option for me.

Yeah, they're usually cheap, but not stupid. They know when and where people go on holidays, and those flights are super expensive. We're gonna visit the missus' family in Lithuania in July, which cost us about £300 in terms of tickets with Ryanair (no luggage of course). Greece is about the same distance from here as Lithuania, just in a different direction, but a return journey would cost us £8-900, plus hotels, plus spending money, which is an amount that we don't have at the moment, and I don't want to overuse my credit card on optional extras in life. I see so many people with shiny new cars, shiny new clothes going on shiny expensive vacations and owing banks a buttload of debt. I don't want to go down that route.

i think you are on the wrong ryanair website mate. i selected two adult returns. so double that so about 150 eahc, 300 total. i did not realize about the hotels though, thats my saving grace, is my relatives let me stay rent free as they have two spare rooms. dangit wish i could fly there this cheap!

Bloody hell, they've dropped! The last time I checked last month, they were at least 5x higher! It might be too late to book accommodation, though. :(

have you tried air bnb? i know its not ideal, but if you get "government id verified" and a "superhost" with good reviews, its usually more affordable than a hotel

My parents have a friend there who has an apartment house, it can't get any cheaper than that. Accommodation is reasonably priced, anyway, the problem is the availability at this point.

So gutted I missed out on this. Messaged the lad a couple of times too... blanked me!

that will need one heck of a dusting. but probably not as bad as the dusting i did recently on a 1070.

Was anybody at Download over the weekend?

The bands were freakin' awesome, but the crowd was annoyingly big. It was impossible to get from A to B without losing your friends, it took ages to fight your way towards the bar, and more than an hour to get to the car park after the shows ended. On Thursday night, it took me 1:45 just to be able to start my car and get going. 90,000 people is just too much for Donnington arena. I hope it'll be smaller next year.

But still, it was awesome. :)

I'm so glad I am an introvert. That sounds like a nightmare to me. If you want to say hi, I will be in the countryside of Shropshire, just hanging out in some nature area reading a book.

I'm an introvert too, but metal festivals are an exception. Maybe because I'm among people and not with people there. :ohwell: The open air and friendly atmosphere help a lot, too.

I just hope that the crowd is respectful, I saw some reports of music festivals in England last year, and just trash everywhere... and this was in a natural area... It really upset me. Nothing wrong with people enjoying themselves, but also not hard to use a trash can.
