in 2020 I bought RX 570 4GB from a miner. Card was in absolutely wonderful state. Clean, repasted, new pads, even better than new one. Working still at friend's PC for Warzone 2.0 8hrs/day :) but this 2080Ti is in Criminal state with capital C. Without pads, we can only guess which components will die first - VRAM or VRM.
VRM has life cycle cut by every step of temperature, so I'd bet that's degraded most, the VRAM would just downclock if it's hitting it's thermal limit.

my card have SAMSUNG GDDR 6 module.I trust in Samsung company,at memory segment they are the best.Hynix are good too. !!!:D
Micron at memory segment is just a nightmare,i know.....that's why i avoid them....All card with Micron memory have problem with Space invaders artifact....

We've told you that this is not true several times by now. Don't spread FUD and misinformation.

guys,i'm shocked and a little sad and little confused.I open the card at PC services, and thermal PADS for memory was not present on the card, infact no thermal pads was present on the card...it was only thermal paste present.I think i'm start to cry right now.At service PC i complete thermal pads only for memory and i change thermal paste with Arctic MX-2
.It's enough,or i must complete thermal pads for LR22 too ? I don't know
I really don'y know what to do.The card is still working properly without problem....but i think pads for memory is not enough.Am i right? :(:(:(:(:confused::confused:

Sigh. You refused to listen... And you continue to refuse to listen. Send this card back and buy a BNIB sealed card that hasn't been abused.

Exactly what I said was gonna happen happened, I must confess, I feel some genuine schadenfreude.

My card is THIS, and thickness, lenght and width of thermal pads differ. from what you share all .nevermind:banghead:
Dimension of PADS differ,is not the same.Look. IM VERY CONFUSED ,what PADS I NEED TO BUY????????????????????????????

You need sheets of 0,75mm, 1,5mm, 2,5mm and 3mm thickness.
Oh and 1mm, 1,25mm 1,75mm and 2mm thickness....

So various sizes.

I DO know what I'm talking about and GPUs with Micron memory are not inferior or suffer from an inherent defect.

Several people already posted you the types of thermal pads you need to buy, including linking MSI's own documentation, but you can't seem to follow, it angers you. If this card was really run for a year with no pads in it, for a GPU of this wattage? It's a "dead man walking", this card must have heated up like a supernova especially considered how much dirt there was in it. Mate, we've told you time and time again: you should send this thing back and pretend it never happened, this has red flags all over it, don't spend even more money trying to fix someone else's mess for what may very well be a ticking timebomb. I've killed cards by overheating their VRM before.

See: it's like I told you several pages back, you don't accept being told no and you resent being given a negative, this is why this happened to you.

The 0.2 is referring to TIM if I'm not mistaken

Cheers to all,
These day i have a few offers of video card to buy. One is Asus Dual Fan Rtx 2080Ti,the other one is KFA2 2080TI and last one is Msi gtx 1080Ti Gaming X.Each 2080Ti cards is in price range of ~300$.Gtx 1080Ti i found in range price of 200$. I discuss with sellers and told me the truth , he used both rtx 2080ti in MINING for 2 months. :(
On the other hand 1080Ti card was used only for gaming. As far as i know, the Mining operation is bad for any gpu video card right?.The sellers told me he used both card 2080ti at mining in a Ventilated room with constant ambient temperature for 2 month, and never reach 65 degree, and he claims there are in perfect condition and i can test each card with Furmark stability test program, before i buy.

I want an advice from you all, because i don't know what to do.My dillema is: is better to buy a NEW and mined card like rtx 2080ti or old card like MSI 1080ti used only for gaming??What option is better?

1.https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/asus-dual-rtx-2080-ti.b6853 -used in mining for 2 months
2.https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/galax-rtx-2080-ti-general.b6126 -used in mining for 2 months
or
3.https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/msi-gtx-1080-ti-gaming-x.b4362 -used only for gaming

Some advice....?
thanks in advance,
Mining is not even close to destructive to the card as gaming.
Even the GPU utilization is at 100% the temp never reflects that I assume is because very small part of the instructions/transistors are used for mining.
So constant lower temp is nothing compared to hitting 90s while gaming then you stop and it cools down and going back and forth causes lot more stress to the card.
I mined with 25 cards for year and a half sold all and kept 470 and 1070 and I use both still no issues.
I'll take mined over heavy gaming used card any day.

No it’s better to never buy a mining card literal ever.
There is always a risk when you buy used card.
Also unless you are buying from somebody you know you won't know what you buying when buying used.
The person selling the card disclosing that it was used for mining it's already a step in a good direction. That 2 months statement I'm not sure if I believe it but it wouldn't matter if it was 2 months or 12 months.

I found all dimension of PADS 1.5mm, 2.5mm,3mm and 0.70mm .I can't find 0.75mm
0.70mm is ok or i need exactly 0.75?
I found all dimension each of them 100x100m,all of them total cost of 30 $.Is ok ?

The sellers told me All PADS are 3.2w/mK transfer rate, and 0.70mm have 8w/mK
Don't know what is this and what i need :(

There is always a risk when you buy used card.
Also unless you are buying from somebody you know you won't know what you buying when buying used.
The person selling the card disclosing that it was used for mining it's already a step in a good direction. That 2 months statement I'm not sure if I believe it but it wouldn't matter if it was 2 months or 12 months.

My heavily gamed on card was kept under strict monitoring throughout its lifetime, is cleaned and dusted on a weekly basis, and even has the original factory seal still applied on it, I never opened it. After 3 years of constant use, only now the thermal paste on the GPU has begun to deteriorate a little - it's still performing adequately for the time being. Not even that tiny warranty sticker has any signs of yellowing... if it didn't have some marks on the screw mounts, which are inevitable as you remove the card from the computer, I could even pass this off dishonestly as a open box card and none would be the wiser.

I will side with Solaris here and take a conservative stance and disavow mining GPUs until we have very-long-term evidence of it not causing hardware failures, which IMO would be exceptionally difficult for it to come around. A few units from people who ran them in tightly controlled environments mindful of their expenses is one thing, but most miners saw these graphics cards as expendable tools that could be spent to maximize their ROI. So far, at least 95% of all mined samples I've seen pass through me had either severe degradation or obvious and visible physical damage caused by thermal and electrical overstress and were in generally pitiful, unmaintained conditions.

The sellers told me All PADS are 3.2w/mK transfer rate, and 0.70mm have 8w/mK
Don't know what is this and what i need :(

3.2W/mK pads are low performance pads, the 2080 Ti puts out way too much heat for these cheap pads to be any good. It's better than nothing, but you need to get the 8 to 12+W/mK pads, if you truly intend to keep this thing. You really ought to try and get your money back, buy a warrantied, brand new GPU

I got to say this, you really should listen to people when you ask for advice, and i mean really listen.
You should also not jump into things, stop, think things before you act, you don't seem like someone who has that much disposable cash to snowball this even further.
You already bought the card, paid some tech guy, now thermal pads. Make sure it's the last time you spend money on this.
Good luck

So basically you against buying used GPUs in general because you can't tell if it was mined or not.
Personally I don't mind buying used hardware except for hdd and ram because there is very little reason to sell those components by themselves unless something ain't right.

No, I am not against buying used GPUs, but I do keep an eye on their general condition before I commit.

I already said it ,i can't install the card on the first PCi-E slot to benefit of x16 mode because i can't fit my tv tuner. This card occupy 3 slots...
I have only one PCi-e 1x slot on the motherboard and it is badly positioned,is between first PCI-e x16 and second PCI-e x8.This card is very wide ocuppy 3 slots.I must give up at tv tuner, and i don,t want

You do know that you can install that PCIe x1 card in your bottom x16 slot, right??? Put the GPU where it belongs.

You wouldn't take the OP's one over a heavily gamed on card for sure...

Mining wont suddenly remove all of of your pads tho, thats what I'm genuinely curious about like where did all those pads go?
My guess is that the original owner at some point opened up the card and either broke the pads during the process and then removed all of them/simply failed to repad the card and then closed it back pretending nothing happened.
You can even see it on one of the pics that the warranty seal on the screw is damaged so someone did open it up before the OP bought/opened it.

Dunno, like I said I've been browsing/using a second hand market for years + watch some YT channels dedicated to second hand/budget PC builds and this I never heard of before, something had to happen with this card and someone is not honest about it.
Tho when a card is as dirty as this one was like full of animal fur+whatever else, thats already a red flag imo and I would avoid it. 'if someone can't even be arsed to sell a dusted off/cleaned hardware then I'm not sure I'm willing to trust that person'

Calculation of all PADS i needed. I have total of 16 PADS missing.I make calculation of what i need to buy. I repeat myself 3.00mm thickness of backplat I HAVE,so i don't need to buy 3.00mm

2.5mm - 1 thermal pad 5x5
0.75mm - 7 thermal pad
1.5mm- 1 thermal pad
1.75mm-2 thermal pads
1.25mm-3 thermal pads
1.00mm- 1 thermal pad
2.00mm- 1 thermal pad

So from my calculation i must complete 16 thermal pads on my gpu card :(

missing the 3mm, unless you want to skip the backplate

i only changed pads twice and i never had 80 class cards, so there is a lot less pads and sizes. This is a ticc hot boy so you have to be more careful
i have no idea if you can avoid using all those different sizes, but if you want to play it safe that's the path you got to take. Just bite the bullet and get that shit done, and done right so you can finally enjoy it. And doing it wrong can get you a paperweight

shit happens, if that's the worst that happens to you in 2023 you're lucky :D

beating the money out of the seller is out of the question?

the problem is i can't find thickness of 0.75mm nowhere where i live ...I need 7 pads of 0.75mm.....Majority of thermal pads i nedeed is 0.75mm .OMG.:(
If i put 1mm thickness instead of 0.75 and i press more, is ok or not?Or i must search 0.70 mm?...
