The Captain, a brilliant pixel art indie game. It's an original point'n'click adventure set in the future with optional turn-based space combat. The intro immediately gives off Mass Effect vibes. You'll be sharing time between managing your ship and crew, crafting upgrades and weapons, exploring numerous locations, trading, and fighting enemies:

The game makes pretty much everything optional, and you can finish it by simply collecting four artifacts. Your choices will affect one of possible endings, as most encounters may have between two to five various outcomes. In fact, The Captain is designed in such a way that you can replay any previous segment with a different result. The space battles are surprisingly involved and include several types of weapons and their counters, shields and specials, as well as calculating energy expenditure while keeping an eye on hull integrity. They become very challenging when dealing with three or four alien ships with special abilities, all at the same time. You will need to think a few turns forward to win and collect the spoils. Luckily, The Captain lets you simulate every engagement to hone your tactics, and preview enemy moves.
A timer starts as you begin the whole adventure, and you probably won't be able to explore everything, defeat all enemies, or save everyone. The gameplay gets a bit repetitive, but offers enormous replayability. On subsequent playthroughs you can pick an already discovered outcome in a given situation, so that you don't have to redo every scenario.
