Sounds like a bad solder joint ... or possibly a bad connection within the VGA port. You could also use DVI to VGA converter & hook up older VGA monitor that way.
Ultra has no VGA connectors (dual DVI), I've tried exactly with an adapter. Probably the DAC is defective.

On the other hand, it doesn't matter. I use VGA for my VGA-only GF3 after all.

Oh, OK. It was a random idea, I remember having similar issue with one of the Radeon cards long time ago. DVI port worked fine, but the VGA had all messed up colors & random artifacts across the screen, so I ended up using DVI to VGA converter instead.

Those bloody plastic pins on Intel do my head in.one of the lugs on that on the bottom of the board broke off :rockout:I just got a X3450 to replace the i5 750, the one bit of plastic on one of the pins seems to be holding it in ,the other three pins are fine.:)I had a test run for putting the cooler i got for my AMD on,:) It seems one pin breaks off on those Intel coolers a lot of the time i try to put one on.o_OIt is really odd other boards i have don,t work with the 420 gpu card and yet work fine with this board weirdo_O Alls well with the X3450 which cost me five pound on eBay :)

Ah, the good ol days when the main motherboard power connector was randomly dropped near the IO plate. And I completely forgot about those old CNR slots!

Actually, the best position for the ATX connector in my opinion was right behind the mouse & keyboard outputs, in the upper-left corner of the motherboard. That way you can simply bend the ATX power cable, make a sharp 180 turn & tuck all the excess cable between the motherboard itself & PSU box. Where all the other positions require you to route the cable across the board (and case), making a mess.

I remember Abit brand was highly regarded for its' premium motherboards.
Got my "tech information" from magazines, back then: XtremPC.

Yeah, ABit was a top brand for sure.

I guess this counts as nostalgic? The HD 5770 came out about 14 years ago. It's my boot screen card for my 2010 Mac Pro. Still runs fine when I need it, though that blower is a bit noisy. Who knows how many hours are on it.

Stupid question, has anybody tried to polish piano finish plastic on GPU shrouds like the one on GTX 280 for ex.? My has a few surface scratches that I think I could get rid of, judging by some YT videos on car care.

I had a bad day yesterday at the market.plus the wrong item sent by Ali Express :(I bought the three GPU,S s two tried so far. the forst one Gfoce 7800 does spin but nothing on the Monitor :(I was very hopefully that one worked. The seconed one i found out was a Dell oem card that showed lines on the screen.:(And the third one which i have not tested yet, i am not hopefully that will woek ,because i got the same modal before and that did not work.:( So it looks like £5 wasted i got four sticks of ddr ram with the Gpu,s and they would not cost much anyway. Can anyone tell me why a gpu that spins but does not boot?o_Oi am able to shut the board off the normal way though.o_O

My first AMD build the gpu is the only one out of thouse four to work on there o_OThe 420 one works on my GA55 UD3 only not on the 775 one,why should one card wotk on one board and not another?o_Oi don,t know if the DVI. to VGA adapter is faulty, but the DVI to HDMI does not wotk nthero_OAt least that 440 gpu was good buy ar £2 last month from a different seller.Rhe ones i bought the other day were a box with a load pc parts. There was a sound blaster card in the box but looked a bit battered. But you never know after buying the three cards which looked fine. The sound card mifgt have worked. If it is there next week i would take a punt on it for £1.I am gutted that the 7800 doesn,t work.:(Just tried the third one that does not work. :(You win some you loose some and lost on these. :(

How did you expect it to work when it's literally missing all of its capacitors? It's a 7600GT BTW, not a 7800GT

Sorry, don't know which model it is to compare and it's difficult to tell just from the (slightly blurry) picture.

Edit: seems to be MSI FX5600 AGP https://www.newegg.com/msi-geforce-fx-5600-fx5600-vtd256/p/N82E16814127102
From the looks of it, at least the SMDs on the front of the card aren't missing
That is the right card,The back plate is missing. That would not make it stop working though.

I have just seen this PC case on FMP it looks cool :) But the price isnt £100 just for a case.:twitch:I just saw this there to but it is free:)Antec Tower case. Never used due to lack of time,Mind you i should think it has gone now ,as the guy put it on there 3 weeks ago.It looks a odd design a Retro case:)
You do fone some good stuff on there.:)It has got to be gone now as he was asking £25.

It must have gone now as the seller did not get back to me.I bet it went as soon as he said it was free.

I am trying to attach photos in the messages to a seller on Ali Express as reguards the seller sending me the wrong item.I asked the qustion on the webb and this is the answer i got To attach photos on AliExpress messages,
click on the plus symbol on the left of the message box and select the image you want to attach
.I have done that my photo comes up ,i click upen and the photo box goes but nothing comes up. :(It,s a pain in the neck Ali Espress :rockout:I am sticking with eBay and Amazon in the future:)If the item was less than £6 i would not bother about going through all this. :( But it is £12.50.I don,t mind losing £6 but £12.50 is a different mater.I have never seen anything like it. o_O

I have just seen this on FMP what an ugly case it is:(Has anyone seen one of these before? its £5 i bet it is a heavy bugger.I am only interested in it because it has a Blu ray player in it.Its £5 and the other side of London.

It's a Thermaltake Level 10 GT, it was a pretty good case in it's day IIRC. Certainly a case worth picking up for £5, when new they went for around $250 USD.
