Uh, I take it this was your first time using Windows 11? Otherwise it's no news that the taskbar is stuck to the bottom. It's been like that since the beginning, despite the complaints in the Feedback Hub

I booted this os today, because there are new AMD chipset drivers and I wanted to install them.

As i booted it i decided to move the taskbar to the top, because thats what I tried in my main os for that last weeks and I like it - browser tabs and menus are at the top, so that is less mouse movement.

Turns out there is no such option in the GUI. I've found tutorials how to do this editing the registry editor, but it keeps reverting the change! ;))

Yeah, it's a bit stupid. The Windows dev team is not shining their best ATM.

Not from the beginning - there are youtube tutorials with people moving it to the top with registry edit. The option to do so must have been removed with a certain update.

Ive used this and other ms oses before

Heres something about 11 people don't discuss with it.

I've got a pending windows update that's waiting til next reboot - no attempts to force a reboot RIGHT NOW.
I've updated chipset drivers (SATA, USB etc) and Nvidia drivers - and it doesn't need a reboot. Everything works.

Yikes! Brand new Windows 11 bug with update, a lot of 13th-gen Core owners reporting getting the "UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR" stop code or boot loader error. Yes, a genuine BSOD (or boot loader error) due to a bug, looking more like something you would see if you tried to use Windows 11 on a Pentium 4 Northwood!

Ironically, I have yet to see Microsoft use a stop code to enforce the pre-Coffee Lake and pre-Pinnacle Ridge CPU ban.

This update is a preview update, but is a cause for concern!

@Super Firm Tofu any issues yet with the latest update? i know you have 13900k
Nope, but I don't ever install the 'Preview' updates when they show up in Windows Update. It appears from news around the web it's 13th gen on MSI boards so I may have been a victim if had installed.

Just checked again and it appears they pulled the option to install.

edit: nm apparently it only hits MSI mobos in combo with 13900k
I hope this doesn't happen with my Z490 Tomahawk and Comet Lake build! That's going to be my back up, while I do tweaking on my Ryzen 5000 series builds.

I do find it strange, what could the MSI mobo's have that makes them the only ones with the issue. Something strange is afoot!

Seems to be a problem with MSI and BIOS for the new upcoming 14th gen CPUs - at this point unsure if exclusively MSI, or for any brand that's released the new CPU update

It seems like the MSI boards have changed the ID for the CPUs, so they're not being recognised - people can rollback one BIOS version and it's fixed.

i had to reply after seeing so much incorrect information on this, like some saying it may damage your system board, , totally wrong, , here are the facts , you can run this card on any psu, but the card will simply under permorm if not getting the required power, you can even run it without the 6 pin suplimetry power , and the card will run at 2x instead of 16 x, i had this card with a 240 watt dell supply and sata to 6pin adapter, and it ran just fine. but if you wont game you wont notice missing a few fps. the card does not draw power it accepts power, so its not going to draw what is not there, Cheers! im A+ since 1999 and MCSE and Diploma in computer engeneering.

So, explorer windows are ungrouped ?.. it has been a murder from MS to not keep it, how to drag/drop on taskbar (zip...) without that, a pure........................................................................

i booted the system out of curiosity, updated what was possible and I can not confirm this revelations

Yeah, with windows insider beta. It sucks that it does not have a minimum width (only has a max width) and some windows with a short name are shorter but its ok like this i guess.

I thought this is worth posting, because of what's to possibly come for the September patch-Tuesday.

It doesn't help that there's a bug with 22H2, where Bluetooth files are unexpectedly changed, randomly, according to CBS. (Component Based Servicing) In CBS.log.
Looks like Microsoft didn't fix that yet. :( I don't use Bluetooth, but what the heck is making CBS go off about the Bluetooth system files?

I didn't remember it to this extent with 11 21H2.

Mussels has said this and I have confirmed the following: The Windows devs deliberately left bypass options in. Only an imbecilic, brain-dead twat would remove them..... Wait, we are talking about microsoft... Hmmm..

Seriously, I honestly don't think they will remove the bypass options. They would piss off A LOT of the right and wrong people if they did.

And, even the patch-Tuesday of August, was stressful! I received an abnormal error, making me wonder if I'm suddenly seeing one of the symptoms of SSD failure, but it looks all good in the SMART, with Western Digital's tool. And Windows had to be sneaky about it, merely putting it into the event log.

Windows Update itself for the LCU, appears to have gone fine, just that Windows 11 22H2 had to claim it can't update WinRE, in the event log. Even though I don't need WinRE to continue using Windows, and it looks like the update to Windows itself was fine. I currently don't want to wipe the SSD and reinstall everything right now!

Perhaps, you can say that I'm doing well for a Windows installation from September 20, 2022.

22H2 had a 'corrupt' bluetooth file SFC /scannow always shows up, thats not really corrupt. Could be related?

I use Windows 11. Including all the patches. I have also installed Chrome i do not use. Nevertheless Windows is requesting that Chrome should use Bing as the standard search engine? No way! It's the first time I'm asked for.

Haven't seen that yet, annoying if they do try and push it across. Being synced to each other, chrome may be importing your edge settings/extensions if you're logged into the same account?

It's not only me. I found an article:

So it must be a kind of marketing program. I use that Brave-Browser all the time with duckduckgo as a search engine. I'm also no menber of Facebook etc. I just use a few webpages and more rarely forums. I'm quite sensitive about my privacy.

Ah, it's not altering anything in the browser but rather an annoying popup

Someone got told to get more people using the Bing AI now that cortanas dead and did something desperate to meet their quota.
It'll probably be gone within a month, with their track record for removing the things that make bad publicity like this has

Just checking in. Is the right click menu still trash? I know there's a registry edit to revert but I don't wanna bother.

Otoh what's the experience with touch input. Still half assed like W10? For example in W10, right click menu with touch input spreads the options but can't be scrolled with fingers. You have click a small arrow to choose properties for example.
