the iGPU was maxed out all the time. did you try to increase the LLC for SoC?
but don't worry too much... it's not like you're leaving tons of performance on the table. either find a sweetspot where maybe 50Mhz less runs already on a lot lower voltage.

yeah close to maxed soc LLC, max (Extreme?) didn't offer anything more than second highest (turbo) so I stayed on turbo most of the time, volt reg also gets pretty crazy on Extreme

I thought it was a Gigabyte thing but in the end strix and Asrock do similar things. In any case the A2000 was to get away from that problem once and for all, no more droop

were you ever able to take a look at how much power iGPU was drawing? 5600G was too long ago so I don't remember Vega 7 very well, maybe it's a combination of ITX board and Vega 8 power draw

i don't have exact numbers but it's not a lot of power.
but i guess the massive VDroop is a different limitation within the silicon since the voltage of the IGP is derived from the SOC power domain.

Anyone know anything about the boost clock override thing ? I set it at 200mhz which is the max, it looks like some of the cores are getting a boost to 5.6Ghz but most don't.

It just extends Fmax (global freq limit). If Fmax isn't the most relevant boost limit you run into, then it makes no difference, unless
  • The individual core actually has the ability to scale to +200
  • The scheduler actually ever has the chance to use said core for ST task
  • You are reading effective clock in HWInfo, or at least core clock + snapshot polling enabled, because everything else is smoke and mirrors

Still testing this but the new bios update has improved things a lot, i had another DDR5 (SS) set hanging around so plugged them in too sure they are not match but a little voltage bump solved it. But having the both at 1.35 failed every time.

Using expo settings bumped the VDD to 1.37v and the VDDQ default 1.35 has proven stable for me. When i had them both at 1.35 it was no post reboots F1 deal to try again.

Both sets are4 G.Skill ones CL32 and the other is CL30 and could be the same thing how ever i got one about 6 month earlier.

Open for suggestions

I am glad I did upgrade from a 5800x3d to a 7800x3d. In my performance testing, I had performance improve between ~15% and 50% depending on where I was in the game. Minimum FPS is now no lower than 30 and average fps is no lower than 60 in the worst performing locations. Overall average FPS is now high enough that I can forget about it most of the time.

I might upgrade to the 8800x3d depending on how it performs on release. I expect an incremental upgrade. That is a long while off though.

Need to confirm you are gaming @ QHD 2560x1440? with a 7800X3D and 6750 XT but can not get a locked 60fps in games?

What games are you playing with what settings?

Star Citizen. It is a poor performing alpha game. The lack of performance isn't unexpected. Between hardware improvements and game optimization I may one day get there.

Only one core at a time will boost that high, if all other conditions align. It'll never happen if even one core is fully loaded, it's for brief bursts only.

Right that makes sense, i was wondering WTF you couldn't even manage 60

Was like that with my ASROCK X570x board, made sure i did not have that issue with the AM5 build.

Pushed a 6200 with no other changes, tried 6400 CL30 and fails and tried 6000 CL28 and failed. Might be abler to get more with some changes but if it be worth the headache ... Latency is around 73ms :(.

pretty sure you're just going to have to get used to upping the voltage if you want to get anywhere, Hynix A is the new B-die

What's up with the UCLK being lower? That's where the latency issue is.

I'm not familiar with the new gear changes, but shouldn't 3000/2000/2000 be what you're aiming at for low latency?

Yeah i just assumed it wouldnt run that high
I look forward to getting my hands on some AM5 stuff and finding out the best values there... i've learned its not worth running out of sync, period.
Find that 1:1 sweetspot and live in it.

With 6100MT/s, you'd want 3100/2050/3100, no?

The math trips me out unless i double check, with it now being 1.5:1? instead of 1:1

I look forward to getting my hands on some AM5 stuff and finding out the best values there... i've learned its not worth running out of sync, period.

3100 x 2 is 6200

Fabric has no bearing on anything as long as it's 2000 minimum, there's no relationship since it's all out of sync
