Reviews so far are pretty mixed lots of 7-9s though.

I haven't looked into them much, but a lot of "big and sort of bland but entertaining enough to keep going" which is what Bethsoft is all about.

I just purchased Digital Premium Edition on Steam and am in the process of preloading. It says "coming September 6th." in my Steam library. Does that show for other people? I thought it would say something like "coming September 1" since I bought the Premium edition.

That's because there is only one STEAM page for both editions, Standard & Premium. ;) They could have highlighted it in the description, though. (well, they did actually in the "Read more" section)

"Depending on your region, Starfield’s early access will be available on Thursday, Aug. 31st or Friday, Sept. 1, for those with the Premium Edition or Constellation Edition."

pcgamer review is out, 75/100 and calls it a dud basically, says its not even as good as fallout 4 at bottom of review. make sure you really want it within 2 hours of gameplay you can still refund. :/ sad day.

baldurs gate 3 got 97/100 on pcgamer review, so 100% that is winning goty now.

RIP this thread. my hype is dead now.

Why do you let other people tell you what to think?

Yeah it's never good to go by one review so far BGIII has been at best 50/100 for me.

Alternatively Nier PS3 has a 68/100 on metacritic and it's one of my favorite games ever made.

@Super Firm Tofu it's something I need to work on for sure. I do feel like I should like bg3 even though dice rolls just don't interest me @oxrufiioxo that is a good example, ty for sharing that, its true.

IGN was even harsher than PC Gamer (surprisingly) and gave it a 7/10.

I have Game Pass so whatever, I'm going play it and decide for myself.

Overall reviews have been favorable and really Bethesda games really get going once mod support starts.

Mine says the same. I had another game recently that did this but I was still able to play early.

Good to know. And I don't read reviews either. Most game reviews (like movie reviews) are incredibly biased and many are rated based on the studio's relationship with the publisher. Just saying.

Yeah same. Metacritic, rotten tomatoes, steam reviews, IGN I don’t read any of them. I just want to play my space opera

Especially a game like this, where I create the fun for myself/roleplay my own story

What on earth is an "unbiased" game review?

Yeah I always take any review with a grain of salt and always think to myself how I would rate a game vs critics somtimes I'm higher others lower so while I find them interesting and do like to look at aggregates it's more to compare to how I feel about a game vs the general consensus and typically never influences my buying decision. Hell somtimes I buy a game just to support a studio I like with no intention of ever completing it.

I’m going to use this to help me cope with my backlog.

You mean you should never go by "Professional Critics" ratings. :D They often deviate hugely from user ratings. Mostly because of conflict of interest, collusion and even political views.

Battlefield 2042 is a very good example. But it's also a good way to spot the "bad apples" among the professional reviewers. Basically a s**tlist of who NOT to trust, lol.

Right now critics average for STARFIELD is 87 (for PC) and 87 (for xBox). Let's wait for the user ratings.

My only issue with user reviews is somtimes they review bomb games for stupid reasons.

I actually thought BF2042 was ok not great not terrible. Some really poor design choices but I still had some fun with it playing with 3 other buddies.

Skyrim is probably my favorite game of the past 15 years and Fall Out 4 was a lot of fun, especially with all the ridiculous side missions. So I am fairly certain I will enjoy this and will probably end of really enjoying it after the game matures a bit.

Jack frags has a video of the gameplay

I cant wait to own it like 5 times for no reason. Bethesda games sneak up on me like that. I flashed a new tune to my ECU yesterday and im pretty sure when I opened the software one of the drop downs was to play skyrim over can bus.

Yeah I'm also not much into gameplay reviews in general. 'at most I watch some smaller YT channels who actually know how the genre/game works but I avoid those big game review sites'

I care more about the technical part/performance reviews, the rest thanks but I will decide it for myself if I like/interested in a game or not. :) 'same goes for movies, I've enjoyed a bunch of lower than average rated movies'
So far I've watched the Digital Foundry xbox performance review and that was kind of promising to me in regard of the game not being a broken bug infested relase.
