After one week of game available will be fun to see reddit and youtube if the game is success or disaster :D. Remember fellas 16 times the details! (Fallout 76 disaster)

I got the Starfield Premium Edition with the Sapphire RX 7900XT that I bought 3 weeks or so ago.

I look at it this way, I played Eve Online for over 6 years, so it cannot be any worse or feel like another job.

pcgamer review is out, 75/100 and calls it a dud basically, says its not even as good as fallout 4 at bottom of review. make sure you really want it within 2 hours of gameplay you can still refund. :/ sad day.

baldurs gate 3 got 97/100 on pcgamer review, so 100% that is winning goty now.

RIP this thread. my hype is dead now.

If game journos dislike it, it's a day to celebrate. The one thing that you must keep in mind is that game journos hate fun, they are anti-fun activists and I have a lot of qualities and adjectives to bestow upon them that are not suitable for a forum

People buying the premium edition to play early are only supporting bad business practices. Gamers can complain all they want about the state of the game industry but it's their own actions that have largely fostered them. That starfield is pulling this BS is an instant no buy from me.

It comes with the expansion as well. I'm not sure what others paid but for me it was only 12 bucks more than standard as well.

I hope everyone has fun! I am still going to ignore main story at first and become a space trucker and expand my empire, by going on the offensive against pirate ships, lol

That's odd, I was seeing nearly 100% CPU usage on my 13900k.
Interesting. Possible Windows power plan settings differences? Using balanced here. Entire unpack took about 4 minutes-ish.

Initial performance has me a bit concerned. 1440p Ultra everything without any up-scaling is around 80-100 fps once you step outside. :fear:

Curious to see what team red users are seeing.

Yep same, 60-70 at 4k max settings with FSRturd disabled because damn it's bad.

It's $30 more than the base game (which is also the increased $70 instead of $60)

We know nothing about this included expansion. I don't really see the point in rushing out to buy content the quality and length of which we know nothing about for a game whose quality has yet to be thoroughly tested. Bethesda uses the world "expansion" very liberally. This is the company that brought you horse armor after all. Let's be honest, people are just using that as an excuse to get the game early. Nothing but mental gymnastics to justify what is further degeneracy in the way games are marketed and sold.

On planet, I'm getting some dips from 1440p 60fps on a 6800 XT on High w/motion blur off. 1440p/60 locked in space. All the dynamic resolution scaling and FSR junk turned off though you need to turn that scaling stuff off first before turning off FSR or it gets locked in the settings. No biggie, just set to High again from custom and all is unlocked. But ALL that non-native resolution crap is on be default if you just pick a preset, even Ultra.

Goddammit I bought a 6800 XT so I don't need that but it'll be interesting trying it on the 6700 XT and 6600 XT at 1080p.

LOL and I forgot to update to today's game-ready drivers though those only listed the 7xxx series as beneficiaries of optimization. oops.

I bought the prem for $30 from a friend, if not I would have waited a few months until it got patched.

My processor only has 8 ecores. Why not use the p-cores for unpacking.
View attachment 311543
Good question. I did a little searching on the web and I see some mention of Steam considering it a background task and specifically sending it to the e-cores.

For anyone considering running Starfield under Linux, I've so far been unsuccessful in getting it to run with standard Steam compatibility, Proton Experimental, or Glorious Eggroll 8-13. Hard crash after a few minutes that kills the X session and requires a login. Game won't start until after a reboot at that point.

That bumped me 20-30fps and doesn't look like barf thanks man.
Which rig is that? my assumption is 4090 rig, 4k max w/DLSS Q getting ~90-100 fps now?

i wonder if this game will get FSR3 support in a few months. it wasn't on AMD's list from what I remember, which would be ironic considering its such a hype game for them in marketing terms.
