your PSU is really weak and the game could cause massive transients (which RDNA2 is well known for)
do you still get shutdowns when you run the GPU at 1.5Ghz or so?

Huh? The EVGA Supernova 650 P2 is not a weak PSU by any stretch. It easily can handle my CPU/GPU. Also, no other games crash.

Only one game would trigger my 3080ti to shut down multiple 850w/750w units. So you honestly never know.

That would be crazy and simply a problem with the GPU drivers. Hopefully new driver updates soon.

Game is OK and it's very polished I didn't experience any major bugs so far it is pretty demanding game but it is all around well optimized for example on my 6700 XT in 4k resolution with FSR2(55% basically 1440p res) and mid/high settings game works between 45-65 FPS and it is very smooth without any stuttering 'tho there are many loading screens and yes they are very short but still they do have that annoying effect...
Here if someone is interesting to see how this game works on my OLD X79 Platform with RX 6700XT

4k with FSR2 55% High/Medium Settings
Spec are:
CPU: Xeon 2697 V2 OC/3,45 on all cores /4,03 Boost
GPU:6700XT Slightly OC and undervolted 15% + power limit
SSD: 512 gb Sata 3 drive
RAM:64 Gb Ddr3 1550Mhz in quad chanel
System:W11 dev

What you are saying is just plain wrong.

If you get 75 fps without a fps cap, and you set the fps cap to 60 fps, then you wont see 99% gpu usage with the fps cap...

You're relying on a reading from RivaTuner and calling other people names, come on man you're above this. This bickering is silly. There's clearly something going on, and it's not GPU-side. Normally if I were going blind I'd blame AMD's middleware (because if there's something I don't trust it's AMD and software and you add up Bethesda + AMD and you have a recipe for utter disaster), but I'm just glad the game doesn't crash all the time (for me, at least). It is a good thing we're in 2023 and we have advanced CPU-level profiling available to the level that any moderately computer literate fellow can load a profiler and check it out:

1693685664570.png

This data was taken in the Jemison spaceport area while just running around and looking at the scenery. If what Intel VTune Profiler says is accurate, then the situation described by @Vayra86 is exactly what is occurring:

It echoes what other results implicitly say: the pipeline is clogged with nonsense; which is also why the gap between fast and slow GPUs is rather small. This suggests game logic being the main problem, which is also highly plausible given the engine. Its also very likely graphics options have been introduced that just handicap performance in a basic sense. It wouldn't be the first Creation Engine game that's trying to chew more than it can stomach.

Since V cache CPUs don't excel on this title, it is likely the game just needs to optimize its streaming of assets/logic better; after all, if this was about 'feeding the CPU' cache should show similar and much better results than fast RAM. Data doesn't fit in cache, or is too sequential of nature, despite running on DX12; it'll likely still hang on a single heavy CPU thread somewhere.

These figures plus what we know about the game logic itself completely negates any benefit of X3D - corroborated by reviewers having the exact same performance or minimally better on regular non-X3D Ryzen models. Look at the super high figures of bad speculation and front-end bound, most of our hardware's resources is simply wasted here, at least on Raptor Lake. Looks nasty to the point that disabling the E-cores or at least lassoing them out might turn out to be a rather good idea if you're aiming at maximizing hardware utilization figures. I might actually try that.

When my game crashes the GPU temp is only at 74 degrees and CPU is barely utilized. Memory is less than 8 gigs on this 12 gig card. Hopefully we will get some bug/performance fixes soon. Kind of pointless to buy a game early for the Labor Day weekend if it crashes constantly.
You have the latest drivers ?
AMD is working with the game developers of Starfield to resolve an intermittent driver timeout or visual corruption issue when Dynamic Resolution is set to 75-78% with certain ultra wide monitors. Users experiencing this issue should adjust the Dynamic Resolution option as a temporary workaround.
Maybe this affects you, did you also try to underclock your GPU/CPU and disable XMP or to frame cap the game so that your hardware is not maxed out.
And for all the people who claim that power usage is the only way to read gpu usage...

I only said that if the GPU is at 99% and the TDP is not maxed out, then the GPU is not fully used. You need both of them to be maxed out to say that the GPU is fully used. ARMA 3 or DCS World do that sometimes, not maxing one or the other while the CPU is chilling not doing much, the sign of poor optimization.

That Bethesda games have spaghetti code is probably the least surprising news in the history of gaming. It just doesn't change anything in regards to what i have said.

Disabling E-waste cores is the first smart thing you have said.

Yea, latest drivers. I am sure there will be a number of updates in the coming days. I know that I took a risk buying it to play a week early. I am sure Bethesda planned for this to happen so the actual launch goes much smoother. I mean, I feel like I should get a discount for helping beta test.

Jeez, talk about pride... it's not productive to have a conversation this way

I mean, the 650 W PSU is also a suspicion for me even though it's alright otherwise. This game seems to load hardware very, very erratically, can you try to see if lowering CPU clock speeds to nominal (like disabling turbo) + limiting your GPU to like 70% power limit fix it? I've seen no crashes whatsoever here on my 4080. I've already got 20 hours clocked in

i wonder if systems benefit from having all 4 dimm slots filled vs 2, regardless of dual rank. i could see something wonky like that mattering. but i don't know, just guessing.

For a 5600x3d I would imagine it would - really depends on the system and IMC though if having more ranks available makes a difference.

Can you post the results of the ecore disable?

Also if you can leave e-cores on and lasso to no HT?

your PSU is really weak and the game could cause massive transients (which RDNA2 is well known for)
do you still get shutdowns when you run the GPU at 1.5Ghz or so?

RDNA2 transients during gaming are minimal, those high numbers are when using a power virus which this game is far from. I'm using a Supernova G2 650 with a 6800 XT with zero problems.

I just tried to set my monitors native 2560x1440 to 1920x1080 and turned on Super Resolution in Adrenalin. So far so good I think.

isnt this the same thing as enabling fsr2 in game setting?

Benchmark Scores I pulled a Qiqi~
For a 5600x3d I would imagine it would - really depends on the system and IMC though if having more ranks available makes a difference.

Can you post the results of the ecore disable?

Also if you can leave e-cores on and lasso to no HT?

P-cores only, no HT (E- and HT disabled in BIOS) as requested, same as earlier, walking around at night at the Jamison spaceport in front of the fountain and the The Viewport building. This time I gathered the full data from the microarchitecture exploration, a cool 84.4% bad speculation rate...

Yep, this is the same experience I was referring to yesterday with my VelociRaptor drives. It behaves the same as RandomGaming's WD Black. Needless to say, it's just not spinning-rust friendly.

1st screen shot with all only 8p-cores, 2nd screen shot with all 8 p-cores and 8 e-cores enabled. No diffrence is difference but the p-cores only enabled take a battling.
I know is a laptop processor but its still the same chip that comes from the 12900k just powered lower. Its 1080 on ultra

Docking is not included with the purchase price of this game, just press "r".
