Starfield discussion thread

New ARC drivers out. It holds the same version number as beta (they have done this before) but the changelog is different.

I'm starting to actually believe the conspiracy that Bethesda intentionally left Intel out of the launch, and didn't supply them a copy of the game to develop a driver. This is absurd.

if true I agree that is horrible business practic.

@Vayra86 I understand your critiques, there is a uniqueness to the graphics though, I don't know why, but I actually do think it looks really nice, especially outside of the big cities when I am getting increased immersion from 120+ fps.

Unacceptable! Do better Tanaka! And get the lead out!

Also, An RX5700 and Geforce 1070TI?!? What? Seriously Tanaka?

Yeah. It's not a conspiracy so much as just shady-ass back-room business deals. AMD and NVidia want ARC to fail in the market because it forces them to actually compete in both performance and price. I suspect a DOJ investigation might be brewing..

They have lost their souls. I have played for several minutes and I haven't seen a single thing that has angered or bewildered me. Can it even be called a Bethesda game?

Take a peek yourself it is located here:

X:\\gfx_win_101.4672\Resources\Extras

When you unzip the installer. It seems compressed but it still weighs pretty heavy at around 53mb. Maybe I can run a procmon on it later to see if it drops this file anywhere.

Shall I buy a 2nd 4090 for SLI todd?

Yeah that's the first thing that popped into my head...So he wants me to upgrade to somthing that doesn't exist.....

I think he was being sarcastic though.

Hey guys, I am now stuck on the Crimson Fleet quest line, for same reason, a dog fight I cannot survive. So I went back to New Atlantis, sold a bunch of stuff from my inventory and the Frontier's hold, and I have a question I can't find an answer to. Can I equip the Frontier with ANY shield generator? The guy at the Spaceport in New Atlantis has ones available that show as being mounted on much better ships, but I don't know if they'll work on mine. Same question as well for Engines or any other parts?

Another thing that worries me is I had several hull repair parts, but now I can't find them. Where can I buy some?

Intel is also a Manufacture of CPUs and GPUs too - this could be true. Intel is the greatest Fear of AMD. I like my Mixed-System: Hey AMD, i would be always a loyal Customer if the free Market is always still working.

Has anyone built their own ship from scratch yet? I wanna give it a go but some of the delivered ships are already very nice... I guess I want to build a giant frigate and just go blasting everyone out of orbit.

There are quite some builds posted on reddit, f.e.: U.C.S. Voyager /// Starfleet Style /// Star Destroyer  Would love to see someone building a USS Enterprise NCC-1701.

Btw. if you have not enough cash for a new ship there is a new Money Glitch discovered. So go glitching before they patch it. :) Also this Easy Money Guide might be helpful.

Todd lives in an alternate dimension.

Game does look good, but at High (not ultra), with FSR on at 75%, I'm just at the borderline for a FPS style game (70-90 in intense firefights) ... on a system that normally sits pegged at 137 FPS framecap in other titles.

I'm stoked, the game runs great, but like if I had a 4070/4080 I would be pissed right now. That A770 response is bizarre.

Did anyone ask the developers, if they even bothered with mGPU support at all in the game engine?

I'm reinstalling window.. I got a NTFS won't allow encryption error after I reinstalled it, though I fixed it and reinstalled it again, but no dice same error, 2 nvme drives and a ssd.. I'm not thrilled with win 11 pretend security. only ever causes issues, never once caught or fixed one thing aftr 2 years, but multiple BS. A noying but it is time for a reinstall so ok. Going to be playing on an i7 10755 with a 2070, hope it works ok 1080p.

Have you tried the DLSS mod? 67% looks better than native IMO.

Not yet but that's on the immediate short list once I get some time. I just started playing here and there and the FSR2 is good enough that i haven't felt the immediate need to mod it (which is impressive, i'm not usually a fan of FSR).

It's definitely the best implementation I've used. Although the native taa is so bad I'm not sure if that's warping my perception lol.

Also new driver out of you want to throw it up. It’s beta, I just got done extracting the FW haven’t even seen the release notes. It does still have whatever this starfield blob is.

Will DLSS mod work on dlss 2.0 cards, is there a dll for 2.0? Haven't needed a dlss 2.0 mod for 1080p yet but this one may be pushing it. *I'm on a msi 2070 notebook but it over performs for some reason, honestly scores between a desktop 2070 super and a desktop 3060, as hard as that is to believe but my cinebench scores beat 3060 desktop scores. I do run special cooling. I cut out the bottom of the laptop and glued real sinks to the cpu and gpu.

100% - my last FSR 2 experience was the Witcher remaster, and it looked so bad i thought it was a joke. The grass was somehow more pixelated(with shimmer) at 4k than just dropping the resolution to 1080P.

So I definitely came in expecting a visual assault - was pleasantly surprised. But the low expectations were definitely there haha.

They might be in your resources inventory on your personal self, they weigh 20lb.

I loaded up some other games that support fsr 2 just to make sure I wasn't losing my eye sight but na it's definitely better in this than any other game I've tried with it.

All your compiled libraries were fed to a special chip we keep in the dungeon and it revealed your machine code to us and fed it to a supercomputer to generate a line by line source code we could optimize for our own benefit. Thanks for playing.

If AMD doesn't have some X86-64 silicon devoted to spitting out machine code to be reassembled for the same purpose I would be very disappointed.
