Okay, so the LG C2 55 inches I got had a defect where there was a 1 cm thick dull vertical area noticeable in the grayscale test and many other scenes with solid colors. It was within 30 days and my unit had replacement guarantee since I purchased from one of the LG Official stores in my region. Initially they refused to replace it citing that the issue I was having was not enough to claim a replacement. Some escalations to LG later, they agreed. They mentioned that they do not have the C2 in stock anymore and it might take time for new stocks to arrive because of the upcoming Durga Puja festival. Time is something which I don't have much these days and I asked if they had the C3 and they had 3 units and asked me to come to the store, check the boxes and pick the one I liked. I picked up one manufactured on August 2023, paid the balance amount and now I have a LG OLED 55 C3. This time, I made sure to check the grayscale test and all other kinds of tests you typically do on an OLED and I have been golden this time.

While the difference in picture between C2 and C3 is not by a huge margin, it is there, very much noticeable. HDR brightness and tone mapping is much much better on the C3 and the overall experience with the UI is a lot better, faster. The usable internal storage also got a huge jump from 2.8 GB on the C2 to 5.76 GB on the C3. The inbuilt speakers on the C2 had better lows but the audio from the C3 is much more refined and balanced - it is like the difference you would typically notice between 16 bit and 24 bit audio. The most striking improvement over the C2 is the upscaling. 1080p videos look much sharper on the C3.

Just ordered my first 240hz monitor. Gotta keep up with those young whipper snappers. Nothing high end and its replacing my UW 144hz, so well see if it keeps me competitive or not...

I'm surprised the UI feels more responsive to you. I haven't used a C2 or C3, but I have a C1, and I'd consider the overall UI to be incredibly responsive as is on my C1.

I got a new monitor, only got it because the sale price on it was too good to pass up. $199 and basically no tax. my teaching contract for this semester ended recently and I decided to treat myself with the big payday (sarcasm, that's why I am not getting OLED which is my dream) lol

34" Lg Ultrawide 3200:1 contrast (according to a review measurement), on fastest response time no overshoot and ghosting is none, only minimal black smearing that isn't noticeable in-game (according to same review I read) 160hz 3440x1440

I still intend to use my NZXT 27" 165hz monitor for certain games, and my 23.8" 1080p 165hz for very demanding games that I want to play at a high refresh. So now I have 3 monitors for 3 different scenarios. Next up will be 4k OLED next year, maybe in two years, that will mostly be for movies and very very old games like the original Dead Space and Limbo that I will be able to run maxed out at a high refresh and get a lot of out of the OLED blacks.

then of course my usage will vary over the years as my hardware gets better and better, but for now that is the plan.

1697302062602.png

and it looks like batman arkham asylum will be my first game on the ultrawide

I'm not expecting this monitor to blow me away, but it will give me a different kind of immersion I hope in certain games. i know it will in middle earth shadow of mordor and hopefully the batman games, etc.

the review also showed there was pretty much no backlight bleed at all on their review sample anyway... so hopefully I get lucky, cause all IPS has a little bit of backlight bleed which annoys me sometimes in dark games.

Should be fine since it's only 2x DIMMs, I'd think.
My neighbor went ahead and filled up all 4x of his for 48GB (5800X3D too) but wound up having to drop the MHz down to 3466.
So far so good. Certainly more stable than the Corsair kit was at XMP.

Absolutely. My C2 when powered on from the soft off state had some stutter when scrolling through the apps screen (quick start+ was enabled). The same goes for the settings menu. This is not present on the C3. It boots faster as well and there is absolutely zero stutter.

case fans or fans case? :p
I do want those P12 for my sig rig, but I was actually waiting for the black qdc fitting (which they didn't have in silver/chrome  )

Received the 4-pin PWM extension cable by Watercool and the Darkside 4-pin molex splitter for the pumps. I already have an extension cable for the sata fan controller.

Part by part you'll get it all together! ;)

I'd like to do the same, but I think my window is still ~2 years from now.

I've had one of those in my Optiplex for a few years now. Not the kind of unit people recommend, but gets the job done.

The price was right ($13) and it looks as good as new.

Ran it for a bit to allow the capacitors to reform.

Just got this today, was pretty cheap, only problem is, it has a bios password. It boots to and runs windows great, has a empty ram slot for another 8gb stick. Was from a local pawn type shop, not a pub carpark :)

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
why pay almost 300chf for a Razer Kishi V2 (luckily made by Gamevice while Razer only apply their fugly logo ... unfortunately getting Razer customer service and QC tho) and a Razer Raiju mobile

when you can get a Turtle Beach Recon Cloud for 49chf it's the BT model of the Turtle Beach Recon i already have as gamepad for my PC (which i will replace, since that version has also USB-C wired in addition to BT ) and ... well my retailer has a "50chf no shipping fee" ... 49chf? damn! oh well let's check what i can have for 1chf then

imagine my surprise when i saw a Razer Kishi V1 (also from Gamevice but with some indelebile stains in the form of Razer logo and packaging ... ) for 1chf, last piece in stock, demo model and heavy (that's an overly weak statement) discount ...

fits my S23 like a glove (although need either, caseless or using the sh!tty Black Rock Ultra Thin Iced [fake] carbon case instead of the awesome, the UAG Monarch [fudgin real!] Carbon.)
compatible with Secret of Mana, PGR (Punishing Grey Raven), PPSSPP and hopefully KOTOR (didn't test the last one ) straight out of the box, which is techncially why i got it for ...

and clearly superior of the V2 in term of build and portability ...

to me the V2 is a pure downgrade over the V1 (unless you use it with a tablet ofc ) ... now let's hope that thing will hold as good as the Tartarus V2 i have ...
wow ... i actually have 3 Razer devices that passed 1 year without RMA? the Tartarus V2 (well ... originaly a Belkin n52 Nostromo ... but the Tart is made by Razer and not a Berlkin OEM? right? ) and a mouse bungee from them (tbf ... given how they failed so hard with the mousepad i had, a Razer Destructor that self destructed after less than 14 months, i thought the mouse bungee from them would explode or gouge my eyes out ... but nope ... still functioning as a mouse bungee till today ... even tho i got rid of the wires 95% of the time on my mouse ... )

and the Turtle Beach Recon Cloud is 49chf discounted (79chf normal, 99chf o_O for the blue and copper version ) and bonus added ...
not being from Razer (the TB Recon still works perfectly fine after two years, while a Razer product would have had at least 6 RMA cases in the same periode  , not joking personal experience with Razer ;) )

a bit redundant to the Kishi ... but i need it for the PC ;)

i will, probably, receive the Recon Cloud tomorrow :D

why pay almost 300chf for a Razer Kishi V2 (luckily made by Gamevice while Razer only apply their fugly logo ... unfortunately getting Razer customer service and QC tho) and a Razer Raiju mobile

when you can get a Turtle Beach Recon Cloud for49chf discounted, 79ish chf normal price and as a bonus being the BT model of the Turtle Beach Recon i already have as gamepad for my PC (which i will replace, since that version has also USB-C wired in addition to BT ) and ... well my retailer has a "50chf no shipping fee" ... 49chf? damn! oh well let's check what i can have for 1chf then

imagine my surprise when i saw a Razer Kishi V1 (also from Gamevice but with some indelebile stains in the form of Razer logo and packaging ... ) for 1chf (last piece ins stock, demo model and heavy (that's an overly weak statement) discount ...

yeah i tested it today ... lucky Razer partnered with Gamevice ... otherwise i would not take a pure Razer device

i got surprised by the Tartarus V2 and that Kishi V1 (Belkin and Gamevice respectively  ) as i mentioned ...

I STILL FUDGING HATE RAZER WITH ALL MY SOUL for everything else! ;)

ah yeah ... my MX Ergo is showing some age related issues ... still 0 issues... till today so ... around 3 yrs without issues but out of warranty and 79-89chf a new one is a bit high ...

will try that one next month (special order as they did not have it in stock )

Port Connect ... never heard of them but i like the shape ... even more "carpal tunnel friendly" than the 20° tilt of the MX Ergo

Anker 60w 10 port USB hub.

I had a 4 port hub that would not recognize things after 5 months of use. It also had a USB 3.1 capable connection but when plugged into the dedicated USB 3.2 port on my mobo it would not even work.

New hub works on the 3.2 connection and even has good charge ports too.

Glad I got it when I did, no more stock! was £149.99

Samsung LU28E590 28 Inch UHD 4K Monitor

A very cheap 4K monitor, I wanted to compare 1440P 27" to 4K"...lets just say I use my 1080P 240hz Dyac+ screen as my main now and the 1440P as my sit back and controller game screen, 4K is overrated.

Second hand power supply (EVGA 500W), so that when I do build a new PC I don't have to rush all the parts.

Was your mind changed on a prebuilt or is this for another system?
