Since I've been trying to save, I've had a few things sent over from my best mate in the US, so I've been able to do a few things ......
A test or two with my legends that are the Asus Strix RX480s... Can't believe I've still got them 6 years later I think roughly... But it had to make way for the new champ....
So the girls both got (actually all three of them) got a RTX 3070 and a Crucial P5 1TB NVME drive.... I figured, since I could now upgrade my Threadripper to a Gen 4 NVME, I may as well do the girls machines! Not that they need it, I think Sophia looks happy enough playing her Plants vs Zombies
She tries with the newer ones but they are still a little bit too much for her yet, Roblox seems to be a little bit much for her just yet...
So I think that should work pretty well
I think the only things I'd like to change in each of the girls PCs are possibly to take them to a 5800X/X3D or maybe a 5900X.... I've got some coolers spare for Sophia's PC but I'd like to hope a 280mm AIO will handle it no problems... I'll try and find some comparisons when it came to the RX 480 and the RTX 3070, worth whilst upgrade I think
Hopefully the girls will enjoy!!
Each one of these will be crunching and folding
Whilst I've got the hardware I believe I may as well put the energy towards something positive!! Oh, speaking of which, bit of a lay out at home for where they each sit...
Here's a couple of the PCs in their little locations
Cruncher in the black case (I'd like to get it another CPU....) Sophia's, then Isabelle's and Rosie's... Then in the little Lian Li case, that's my little gaming rig for night time and then my beast Threadripper
As you might have seen in the above pics, so here's a little closer look, hopefully!
My one and only I guess you could say(??) my EVGA Classified motherboards
We've the amazing EVGA SR-2 and then we have two EVGA E759 and E762, they are more or less the same at they all have a 7970 in them!
An upgrade from the original builds with my GTX 580's
Back in 2010/2011 I believe I had ordered them....
The next two CPUs I was able to find, I'm extremely excited to have them with me as well...
The Intel 980X's
6C and 12 thread, for each of my Classfied boards apart from the SR-2... That's already got dual X5675's in
And may as well save the crazy till last I thing...
A bit of a random and daft put together but its definitely going to serve a purpose
Meet Phill's little backup server....
Since I had a few hard drives lerking about the place, I thought what better way could I have but to put together something that will serve as a big storage
Firstly, the PCIe NVME adaptors where there because when I was connecting everything to my Asrock Z170 OCF board, any of the 3 NVME slots on the board would knock out two of my drives connected to the system so I'd loose two drives... Couldn't have that so I bought the PCIe NVME adaptors.. First was a 1x card which kinda slowed down the Wizwot NVME drive I've bought to try out - if I real call, but to be honest, there's nothing there that would matter if I had kept it in there, btu me being daft, I've now switched it for a 4x card which is and has worked very well indeed. If my tired memory is correct, the speeds went from about 1200MB/sec read and 1200MB/sec write... The rites not massively improved but the read has definitely improved and that's not in the screen shot above...
I do like this little box of joy!!
One pic of some of my consoles I keep down ready to play on too....
I think until I get my next delivery as well, I'll need a bit more time getting the rest of this lot updated and working... Hope everyone enjoyed the pics
Thumbnails this time to stop possibly breaking everyone's scrolling button!!
