company I go with allows me to pay 15 a month for no data caps. and its worth 15 a month for me, as I stream in 4k, watch youtube in 1440p, games being massive in size, etc. 15 a month is fair to me, if that ever doubles to like 30-40 a month i will prob stop doing it and just utilize my offline backups more.
Where you live  Our is like 80 but it's both internet and directv

Doesn't most cable ISP have data caps? I'm on ATT + Directv Fiber I'm guessing
I have a 250 GB cap... But my ISP never bothered tp do anything despite me going over it by a lot. My guess is they just have it in the contract in case they need to limit the Internet speed.

No data cap, no torrent block, even that one.

Haven't seen data caps on anything but mobile use for years. As in well over ten, though I can't really remember when caps disappeared.

That's a good thing. Backup your personal files and data and do a fresh install.
I did fresh install eventually.

First I downloaded the other ISO again, but many apps were "can't run blah blah"

btw, for those who care about trees and our tiny planet global warming, here's how to not download unreal again, instead of bragging about ISP speed and data cap:

see the section:
Changing the Installation Location Using the Epic Games Launcher
If you have a previous installation of Unreal Engine on your disk, but the Epic Games Launcher does not recognize it, follow the steps below to register this installation with the Launcher. You can also use this method to move an existing installation to a new location on disk.

Where do you live? Region is fine if you don't want to dox yourself.

Norway. I've had 500/500 fiber for close to ten years now I think, with no cap. Cable broadband before that, also with no cap.

Data Caps

They only do that with mobile data subscriptions here, maximum is around 20GB mobile data a day, after that you can send sms for 1 more GB and so on rest of the 24 hour day...

Europe is very different from the USA. We have a lot of great things going for us, but there are downsides. Data Caps are one of the most pathetically annoying and embarrassing.
Never run into one of those.

Maybe region dependent?

Also, our local situation is improving as the local utility is joining the competition...

I changed NVME drives, nothing else changed in my system, but on clean install Microsoft is saying my Win 11 key is no longer valid. :(

This really sucks, I wanted to go with Win 11 on my new 2tb NVME for awhile.
Weird, I still have the same license from W 7 Pro. More than a few motherboard changes. Okay a couple of the board changes I called MS and they let it slide

This is from MS under my devices

Did you get a retail copy of Windows or one of the OEM versions? The reason I ask is because the secret to the OEMs being cheap are the fact that they are usually tied to the hardware in your machine which means if you change anything (Not GPU) like the OS or MB you need a new key. A retail copy would let you install anywhere. As you can have up to 20 PCs under your W11 licence, Of course OEM copies of W11 are not expensive.

yeah I have 5 cheap ones from the advertising sites that advertise here on TPU, I paid about 11 bucks or something for each of them. none of them work anymore even though I only changed mobo and gpu twice, and now nvme twice. really frustrating.

Ping w1zzard and he'll probably get them to fix it for you. He's done it before.

Have you tried contacting the seller's support?

Don't know about that. I've not had a retail key since 7 and have used my OEM 10 and 11 keys on, I think, a total of 6 machines. In fact I changed my boot drive and did a clean install just a couple of weeks ago, with no trouble at all. Also, I'm fairly sure I've only ever had to re-validate a machine once and that was with my retail 7 key. Since then, nada.

I have used a retail win 7 pro key on win 11 previously, and a retail win 10 pro key. But for this install, i actually bought a supposed Win 11 pro retail key iinstead of the usual OEM keys.

I upgraded my Bios and it said I had changed Hardware, so the win 11 key wouldn't work anymore, I contacted the seller (who I got from techpowerup site) and they gave me another key. I just had to send them screen shots of me trying to authorise windows. Great service.

I have now tied my Key to my Microsoft account, so it shouldn't be a problem anymore as MSI Bios upgrades are all over the internet for stuffing up your windows key.

Where I live you pay your ISP $10 to go unlimited. For Mobile Wireless it is the Wild West with the Data fees so foolish that most businesses offer WIFI to connect your phone while at work. One of the best things about Asus Routers is the fact that you get another Wireless network as if you live in a house with more than 3 people you need as many connections as possible and Apple eats up so much bandwidth it is not funny. I am looking forward to FTTH coming to me next year.
