I got the Deck OLED tonight, late night 8pm delivery from UPS... crazy fast wth... so far here are my thoughts:
nvme drive is insanely slow, I only get 9 to 12 down on wifi6e or through ethernet cable, where as on my Deck LCD that has a sabrent rocket nvme gen4 drive I get 80-90 down on ethernet cable. so ugh... valve really cheaping on nvme drives is kind of pathetic considering how cheap nvme drives are, especially when bought at volume. so if I keep the Deck OLED I have to now invest in a gen4 drive because the download speeds are atrocious and outright pathetic for a $600 device. i am so used to downloading games at 80-90 download through ethernet on my LCD, this was an unpleasant shock to say the least. might as well use flash ssd storage at these speeds Valve, and save yourself even more money.
display for LCD and OLED are about equal in brightly lit games after the LCD srgb steamos update (I'd say OLED is maybe 5-10% better in bright games, but 40-60% better in dark games, but in brightly lit games not as much of an improvement as I thought), and display calibration has been done on both. for dark games the OLED is superior, but all the youtubers and reviewers were revewing Deck LCD before this srgb 30-40% increase update that the Deck LCD update got, distorting the reviews heavily. OLED is superior true, but not by much and mostly in dark games once both displays are calibrated and set to around 60-70% brightness
fan is just as loud as my Deck LCD one is to my ears, cause my Deck LCD came with the upgraded fan dampener since it was a newer model. you can measure technical noise levels all you want, i legit can't tell a difference
Deck OLED is noticeably lighter and this is a good thing, but as someone who most plays in bed due to my scoliosis and other medical issues, i usually have it sitting on something anyway, so weight is none factor for me. this is however a nice bonus regardless.
battery life is improved which is nice. overall its a decent upgrade, but I am not blown away, not for the cost of it anyway. The main detriments are the nvme drive is so slow on write valve should be ashamed of themselves, and I am still a little worried about OLED burn in in 2-3 years down the road, simply because I like to play at 80% brightness usually... overall its around a $350 upgrade for me after selling the Deck LCD... lets add another 100 to that cause I have to upgrade the nvme drive cause valve is pathetic... so about half a grand, and I am not sure a slightly better screen is worth half a grand for my particular use cases. heh oh well.

these are my thoughts on the Deck LCD glossy vs Deck OLED glossy. no I do not care about your criticisms of my thoughts, this is just my experience using both, it is what it is.
