what is the difference between the M27Q and X version except the 170hz and 240hz refresh? Any other major differences? I been thinking of buying one of these for my brother. The price difference is substantial between the two.

Nah, that's fine. I'm not in the market for an IPS screen, I'm happy with my 27" 1440p165 VA monitor. OLED, however, is another story altogether and would move me.
They're still expensive out of here as well (I know for a fact the Alien is US$799 on BestBuy BF deal, while here it's going for approximately US$1480 directly from Dell - its normal price bordering $2000).

One of the best deals in Canada right now for monitors is the Gigabyte 32QC for $329 or an MSI variant for $299. There is also the Asus TUF for $329 on Newegg. Those are all 1440P 165hz panels that support Freesync and have some really nice VA tech. The MSI variant is IPS.

Oh, I have a 10 Gbps switch, which my NAS will go into once I bring it over to Sweden.
Got a ton of stuff to move over from Taiwan, but not to this tiny flat. If all goes according to plan, we're moving in to a bigger place in February which is pre-wired for Ethernet to all rooms except the baths.

Observations on the SHIFT 850.

Cons

• Every high-end PSU I've bought until now has come with two cloth bags, one for the unit, one for the cables. Not this one... all you get are disposable plastic bags (they aren't even resealable). I can understand that for the unit itself, because you're gonna put it into your system - but you really couldn't give us one for the cables we're not gonna use, Corsair? Especially given the price of this product?
• They moved the connectors to the side of the PSU, but don't appear to have made the cables any longer. This is particularly noticeable with the main 24-pin cable, which barely reaches to the motherboard in my mid-tower case. An extra 5cm of length for each cable would've made all the difference - especially for the SATA power, an extra 1cm between each connector would've been very useful.
• Cable assignment is a little odd weird. There's a PCIe cable with twin 6+2 pin connectors, then two more with a single connector each, for 3 cables with 4 connectors between them. In a product where costs have so obviously been cut, 2 cables with 2 connectors each would've made a lot more economic sense. Similarly, 2 cables with 4 Molex connectors on them feels incredibly unnecessary and wasteful; 1 would've been more than appropriate.

Pros

• The side-plugged cables really are an absolute godsend and they make up all for every one of the above cons. This design should be ratified as the next (sub-)version of the ATX spec, yesterday. Sadly Corsair is apparently trying to patent it.
• Corsair finally figured out that people who actually build PCs don't want stupid sleeved cables that get caught on every protruding piece of metal and are thick and hard to route. This unit instead uses the lovely flat silicon-style cables that my previous Fractal Design Ion+ PSU has; the Corsair ones are a little thicker, so they don't route as easily, but they also feel a little more durable. No in-cable capacitors either!

Something has changed at Corsair. Once upon a time they used to be the company that built the iconic Carbide 500R case. Absolute treat to build in, and I was very impressed with its price point. None of its current offerings do it for me. Plus all this cost-cutting attitude - did they go through a change of leadership or sell out to the wrong company or something??

Fingers crossed, although it appears to have some issues firmware wise still, like WPA3 not working as intended.
Getting Gigabit as well once we move, as it will cost me as much as my 250/250 connection costs me now, due to being locked in to a single ISP, whereas the new place has open fiber, so I can pick freely among a range of ISPs.

that's a nice device, well if we weren't shafted in Switzerland i would have considered it ...

but imho the Ally is a better deal all together, i think the Steamdeck is plagued by being steam only and a one trick poney, ofc that's still mighty fine, but the Ally, although needing to be wired to be optimal, is more versatile, a bit like a PC/laptop versus console, i did test the first Steamdeck from a friend unit and what i thought should be upgraded have mostly been upgraded, with the OLED version, as i said, still a few misses but still way better than the original

i tested many games on it, good old retro at 10/15W is the best pick for nomade fun, while heavy one hooked to the 65W brick at turbo mode (30W) run mighty fine without much compromises, the Lenovo Legion Go is also impressive but i still prefer the Ally (they are the same price, but the Legion has one thing i would have liked on the ally, although i am not missing it too much : a touchpad )

(nevermind the fact that i am a low key afficionado "IPS over OLED anytime" )

i am considering either

at home ... i could even replace my main rig with that, if my main rig was not total badass right now (best upgrades in years ever! relegated my i5-6600K + GTX 1070 => R3 3600 + RX 6700 XT to the second best upgrade spot )

or the official power suply/dock who can also act as a standalone dock if not plugged in (since the US plug can be folded ) technically it add an HDMI 2.0 and a USB A to the Ally (i could also plug a USB-A hub to 2-4 USB-A for mouse and keyboard 2.4ghz dongle )


the difference in price for them is almost double, with the ibroz (lol Eyebrows ... yeah i'm childish sometime ... ) being the more expensive one ... but since i already have a 65W brick and a 100W 40k mAh powerbank ... the full dock would probably be the best option ...
edit: ah, i just noticed the officall ROG brick only add a USB-A 2.0 ... nay nope no nope no way jose... ibroz it will be!

It's not a one trick pony though, Heroic Launcher on SteamOS will play all epic games store games and galaxy gog games, you just login through the heroic launcher to access those games (haven't tried it yet myself but I am watching videos on it as i type this and it seems fairly easy to do), also EmuDeck is heavily optimized so emulating games on SteamOS is super easy, and SteamOS has some awesome features that Windows will never have, such as one click low power standby mode without losing your place in the game, its so nice just hitting the power button once whether I am in the middle of intense action or a cutscene, it doesn't matter, then I can resume it any time I want and I never miss a beat, Windows just isn't capable of this fluidity. there are some other benefits over Windows, such as some games work better on SteamOS than Windows, and vice versa, they compliment each other nicely, I could def see myself in 5+ years owning a Deck 2 and a RoG Ally 3 or w.e versions are out in the future. For now though I am happy with SteamOS. also many unverified games do work on the Deck, they don't have to have the green checkmark to work, you can check on protondb.com to see
