Bought this cheap today to have a play with.

It has a beautiful display, best I've seen on a laptop. Yes it's mini LED screen - it's the new ROG Nebula HDR display, specs:

I initially purchased a Sager NP9371V (CLEVO X370SNV-G) but it had some pretty severe heat issues where the chassis around the keyboard in certain areas got so hot I lightly burned my finger having it held there for a few seconds. It may have been a bad tim application, and I offered to replace it myself but they said it would void warranty, so I could either RMA it for repair which may or may not fix it, but by the time it got back to me, the 30 day return window would have expired, so I returned it and got them to hold the credit and waited a couple of months for the ASUS laptop. Turned out a good move. I've purchased a number of Sagers over the years and always been happy with them, just got a bad one apparently.

Part of the problem is putting such high end hardware in laptops is cooling them, i'm not surprised some of them get so hot. Seems a bit counter productive to me pputting such high end hardware in them that sometimes they cannot even run them to their full potential. Maybe they need to just make a gaming laptop that is a massive hunk of a thing, with actual usable cooling for the high end hardware.

I guess this is why graphics card docks were invented. Although, even those can't power the 400+W cards that Nvidia's pushing on people these days.

True. The ASUS laptop has 3 separate cooling fans in it, and a lot of added heat pipes and copper fins, and it cools surprisingly well considering what's under the hood. The Sager I expected to run hot, but not that hot. The Sager was throttling on high load, whereas the ASUS handles high load no worries - it's pretty warm, but not to the point of throttling, which (as you said) is counterproductive. The heat level on the Sager I'm pretty sure was an issue with the thermal paste application though.

They do - it's called a desktop. ...although there are one or two laptops I've seen that have internal water cooling (AiO) but that last one I saw was so thick it somewhat defeated the purpose of being a laptop. I believe the Lenovo Legion 9i has some form of water cooling ..sort of. link.

just looking at those switches the akko ones, they aren't too expensive either. how do I know if my motherboard has swappable switches? is it hard to swap them out? I have the Anne Pro 2 keyboard with cherry mx blue.

Yes, definitely have a look at the Yunzii Y75 if you're looking for <100 USD hotswappable that thocks - this has tri-mode too aka (2.4GHz, BT and Wire) its a plastic case but made very well and sounds very very good.

But if you want to delve into your first aluminum case then look into Zoom65, Neo65*, Momoka65 or Tofu65 all around 100ish USD

Yes, but when you drop it to 1280x800, which everyone should for mobile devices, the differences become less important. BTW, your screenshot isn't accurate. The Legion Go starts at $699. $20 extra for a MUCH better screen? Yes please!

my screenshot is accurate for Switzerland (minimal price is at least always 99chf or more than the ally) and yeah ... dropping res is something needed, but you could also drop res on the Ally and 720p doesn't look bad on the ally.

i got my hand on a Legion Go (a friend bought one), the 1.4" more on the screen is neat but using them both in same scenario, to me ofc, it's not a decisive factor, not fond of the ergonomics, the Xbox placement is fine (obviously) the touchpad is something i would like and the extra buttons are neat... but the shape : not a fan at all


conclusion, for me the ally is superior for you Legion Go is superior, what does that bring us? well: basically both devices are fantastic devices

alright, 65w will not cut the mustard on the ibroz dock from what i have gathered, obviously, if you hook devices to the dock in addition to the Ally, it will need more juice otherwise the 30w turbo will default to 20-25w

so, either a GaN 100W multiport (with at least one USB-C capable of doing full 100w)
or something like that

given the price : no biggies but i think replacing my 33w 5 ports 4Smarts powerbrick would also be a good idea

Can't say about their chargers, but USAMS' cables are (literally) solid. Hard af to bend, I have my USB-C to A cable of theirs for some good 6 years or so and only the type-C latches aren't the same anymore.

Just got this to see if it can replace the phone i'm using for aida64 display as its a little bigger. Has HDMI on it, the res is not very high, but i don't think it needs to be.

People have been praising Thermalright's AIOs (and air coolers too, for that matter) left and right. So if it's on sale, it becomes a no-brainer.

I have been one of them on TPU. The fact that a Thermalright 240mm can keep a 5950X at 65 C at 78% load is proper and the pump is one of the fastest I have seen on an AIO. Did you see that in my Thread (What did you get for Black Friday) that I bought a Peerless Assassin for $40 and that is also cooling a 5900X in the 60s at 85% load. The new one will be a 5900X with a 6500XT for the least amount of GPU power possible.

Ah! Ok, saw the dollar sign and thought you were stateside. Sorry about that!

but you could also drop res on the Ally and 720p doesn't look bad on the ally.

The thing is, dropping a 1080p screen to 720p will cause some scaling issues if a proper blending effect is not put into effect. Dropping 2560x1600 to 1280x800 scales perfectly. Thus, the LegionGo makes for a much more seamless experience as the desktop resolution is very good and then games drop to 800p and gain an excellent performance boost.

I mean that WD Black is kinda hard on the enamel I agree Joke aside, I find my....how was it in English...water pick? water flosser? teeth shower? irreplaceable. Honestly one of the best decisions I made is getting one of those. Always gets something the toothbrush didn't. May be it's just me, but I love the thing. Does fantastic job and mine isn't even top of the line.
