Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
Is the Ally worth twice the price though? possibly not
baaaahahhahahahhaa ... i got mine second hand for 250chf (well almost a BNIB, the seller told me he used it only for 3 weeks, tho he was sad the auction ended at 250 and not 500+) and a Steamdeck basic model is 549chf ... full price ally is 700chf (actual price during black week/friday is 630ish chf ), never saw a max spec deck for 350chf tho

it has double the perf ... and some advantages, so yes, to me, still situational, it is worth it :D (even at full price ;) )

also a laptop with similar specs is 890chf minimum for me (ok the bigger screen would make it... nah, actually not, hehe ;) )

so even with all the accessories and the SSD upgrade to 2TB i am far from a Deck price in my country (and even further from a full priced Ally )

@GreiverBlade is Ally glossy or matte? I am curious because finally someone has agreed with me that glossy Deck is better than Matte, and text is sharper and pops better. and this is what I have been saying for ages.

That's shiny! How do you like the keys for typing?

Yes. The bump in specs is VERY much worth it. However, the Lenovo Legion GO is the better option with an 8.4" screen and price makes it the better option still.
strangely the Legion Go is actually less performant than the ally, due to the increased resolution (which is, imho, techncially not needed, FHD is plenty pixels up to 9" screen), hilariously at lower power (higher power about same same with a slight advantage to the Legion Go against all logic  ) and a tad heavier (254g)

but yeah 1.4" more and touchpad make it somewhat a better option (although last review i saw still did put the ally as best choice ;) ) but 120chf more (or 99 at "normal" price) is a bit hard to justify

also Legion Go is just getting, in stock at my retailer and due to that : harder to find second hand, and current "normal" price is 799chf vs 700chf

also, @FoulOnWhite the Steamdeck that cost half the price of the Ally, so, around 350$, is the 64gb eMMC @ 399$ (including a carrying case) and the one with the same SSD capacity is 649$
1700900985056.png
could not include the deck in the comparison  none to be found ... but the OLED will correct that, later

just ordered a dual, 2.5+M.2 NVMe enclosure to regroup my 2 backup drives in one enclosure, there is a switch so i guess it's selectable and not "at the same time" which is fine for the drives in intend to put in

Completely unusual. I'm at least 30 percent slower than with a standard keyboard but I'll get used to it. Need to be accustomed with the fact these keys are deeper so I need to press them for longer to work.

I don't think it's available here and it's nearly twice the price for an even fuglier looking thing, so, uhm, no, just no.

A distant dream in our proud country, sigh
It's not everywhere here either. It's a bit complicated here as to how housing works, but in rental properties the owner of the buildings often have negotiated with a supplier for something like a baseline 100/100 Mbps being included and you can pay extra got anything faster than that, but it usually makes it quite expensive for some reason.
If you buy a "bostadsrätt" which is a kind of flat you own the right to live in, but don't actually own (which most flats that aren't rentals here belong to), your building association (which you are a member of) usually have something negotiated that's included in the monthly fee (which includes a lot of things) or if you're lucky, they have open fibre so you can pick from a dozen or more suppliers. We're looking at getting a flat that we'd own outright (a fairly recent concept here) and that's why it's open fibre, since the cost is then up to you entirely. Most houses also have open fibre. Very few cable only properties, but there are a few.

Something has changed at Corsair. Once upon a time they used to be the company that built the iconic Carbide 500R case. Absolute treat to build in, and I was very impressed with its price point. None of its current offerings do it for me. Plus all this cost-cutting attitude - did they go through a change of leadership or sell out to the wrong company or something??
I noticed the exact same thing & their customer service went from being great a few years ago to virtually useless. I am phasing out having any Corsair products in my systems gradually (not going to get rid of working stuff out of spite) but I won't be buying anything Corsair branded/owned ongoing unless something changes drastically.

prolly lol
& it all started when they refused to RMA some LL120's which all gave out different shades of same colour selected in iCUE after a couple of months, regardless of which channel they were connected to on the Commander Pro (they would be the same shade regardless of channel connected to). Other brands fans were fine with their software settings but Corsair's support would not believe me! Even using Signal RGB was the same.

I would be even slower than that, as I tend to hit some of the keys "on the corners", and those round keys would throw me completely off.

It looks like a fantastic keyboard, with the antique manual-typewriter style. But it's also an unintentional reminder that the original QWERTY keyboard layout exists because manual typewriters needed to keep the KPM low to keep the hammers from bunching up. "Slow" is in its DNA. :D

But it's also an unintentional reminder that the original QWERTY keyboard layout exists because manual typewriters needed to keep the KPM low to keep the hammers from bunching up. "Slow" is in its DNA. :D
Indeed. Lucky me my native language doesn't even feature Latin alphabet so I'm good to go with ЙЦУКЕН (Russian layout).

Also with latin alphabets the keyboards have different layouts. ;) I.e. QWERTZ & ÜÄÖ. The swiss Layout is a combination of the german, the french and also the italian layout. The layouts where designed at the typewriter times. To produce less problems when typing fast. With that layout one generally uses two hands and 10 fingers to type and mostly one is using one finger at one hand and directly after an other finger at the other hand. If one would have learned the 10-finger-system he wouldn't have an issue on any keyboard. No matter if the edges are squared or rounded.

It looks like a fantastic keyboard, with the antique manual-typewriter style. But it's also an unintentional reminder that the original QWERTY keyboard layout exists because manual typewriters needed to keep the KPM low to keep the hammers from bunching up. "Slow" is in its DNA. :D
I think it was to spread the most-used letters, as side-by-side hammers could bind if struck consecutively.

strangely the Legion Go is actually less performant than the ally, due to the increased resolution (which is, imho, techncially not needed, FHD is plenty pixels up to 9" screen)
Yes, but when you drop it to 1280x800, which everyone should for mobile devices, the differences become less important. BTW, your screenshot isn't accurate. The Legion Go starts at $699. $20 extra for a MUCH better screen? Yes please!

Completely unusual. I'm at least 30 percent slower than with a standard keyboard but I'll get used to it. Need to be accustomed with the fact these keys are deeper so I need to press them for longer to work.
You'll get used to it. Time & practice.

I have researched gaming laptops extensively over the years, and I can say there are only two laptops I would ever consider buying (if I were rich), HID Evolution custom laptop and he Asus SCAR line, you chose very well. Does that thing have a mini-LED screen by any chance? what the specs of the display? I am curious
It has a beautiful display, best I've seen on a laptop. Yes it's mini LED screen - it's the new ROG Nebula HDR display, specs:

ROG Nebula HDR Display
16-inch
QHD+ 16:10 (2560 x 1600, WQXGA)
Mini LED
Anti-glare display
DCI-P3: 100%
Refresh Rate: 240Hz
Response Time: 3ms
G-Sync
Pantone Validated
MUX Switch + NVIDIA® Advanced Optimus
Support Dolby Vision HDR : Yes
VESA DisplayHDR 600
500 nits sustained brightness with up to 1,100 nits peak brightness
100,000:1 contrast ratio

I initially purchased a Sager NP9371V (CLEVO X370SNV-G) but it had some pretty severe heat issues where the chassis around the keyboard in certain areas got so hot I lightly burned my finger having it held there for a few seconds. It may have been a bad tim application, and I offered to replace it myself but they said it would void warranty, so I could either RMA it for repair which may or may not fix it, but by the time it got back to me, the 30 day return window would have expired, so I returned it and got them to hold the credit and waited a couple of months for the ASUS laptop. Turned out a good move. :) I've purchased a number of Sagers over the years and always been happy with them, just got a bad one apparently.
