So, has anyone found a reliable source for the Enterprise IoT 2021?

That doesn't break the bank? :p

EDIT: Well, figured, what the heck. I grabbed a LTSC 2019 off of Keysfan for $9.13 today.

Figured, for the price, what harm would it be. :p

Now that Microsoft has announced
Lifecycle FAQ - Windows | Microsoft Learn

'the paid Extended Security Updates (ESU) program ... through an annual subscription service after support ends'

there may be a route for us who can't move to Windows 11.

what prevents you from 11?
rufus by default disables TPM, Secureboot and all the other nonsense and it works just fine for over a year now.

I need to perform hacks and can't be sure of support; don't want to risk it.

Everything and I mean absolutely everything that runs on 10 will run the exact same on 11, the underlying OS remains the same. "Obtaining" ESU's (if Microsoft even makes it easy to do that this time around, considering they're skitting away from the Windows as a Service era and plan to return to product cycles apparently ) is utterly pointless this time around, particularly since you'll be better off just upgrading.

Not to mention it's flat out piracy. We all know the 7 ESU lovers don't have Software Assurance contracts nor do they qualify for one.

Well look what you have done now!

I just moved my main machine to Windows 11 (again) and everything seems to be working.

Hi,
MS EOL's builds all the time even on 11 so you'll have to mount a prepared iso once in a while if your machine isn't completely compliant.
Not a big deal to use rufus and jump the ms huddles it's just a step.

Get yourself an inexpensive workstation or laptop and use it to experiment with install tweaking and modification.

Well look what you have done now!

I just moved my main machine to Windows 11 (again) and everything seems to be working.
Or just do that! LOL!

Actually, I did what you suggested and installed on a spare machine first; but I remained concerned about an update that causes problems.

Trying out IoT now as an "upgrade", from what I can tell the OS is identical to regular Enterprise 21h2.

Anyway, hopefully that's PC OS sorted until 2032...

I've ran LTSC 2019 (1809) on my X58 system since 2020. I haven't had any issues with it other than more recently there has been more and more software that requires 1903 or newer version of Windows 10.

My X299 system has IoT LTSC 2021 (21H2) which has been working great so far. As far as I know 21H2 and 22H2 aren't that different from each other so I'd expect all software/games to continue supporting them for equal time.
But even though IoT LTSC has security updates until 2032 it's likely that many software developers will drop Win10 support long before that, kinda like how many have already dropped 1809 support.
In 2032 Windows 10 will be about as old as Windows Vista is now

I hope Windows 11 LTSC will be less bloated than the regular version just like how Windows 10 LTSC versions are. I don't want any of the copilot ai crap etc.
