FREEDOM!

Also, a nuke. For democracy of course.

So yeah I've been playing it too. :)

Fun fact, to make this game stable on an AMD 7xxx card without altering settings, you can just set your GPU clock to 90%. It then works flawlessly without being a crashfest with everything enabled. Really weird. It's almost like the AMD clocks are too aggressive for just this game.

Yep... reducing max core clock is the surefire way to get your OC/undervolt stable too. RDNA3 shenanigans. At least at that point it also actually is rock solid, but yeah. Anything over 2600mhz is a gamble, then again, over 2600 is also killing its efficiency.

I'm gonna dive into that too... it looks mighty fun. Server status doesn't look mighty fun yet tho, I'm waiting it out a little.

2024 is rapidly starting to look like a great year for gaming. A lot of stuff is coming out of early access and finalized, there are less big blockbusters and so many (perceived) lesser ones that are actually so much better coming out. I'm actually short on time again, been a while since I had that.

Songs of Conquest, Farthest Frontier, Last Epoch... they're all nearly done. And they're all already worth playing.

I laughed when I read this. I literally added this to my wish list on Steam earlier today. Saw an article about how it just launched. It does look neat. I will probably pick it up on in the winter sale 2025, my wish list is 1000 strong :D

Two Brothers remake coming out soon is at top of my wish list, and both Nier Automata games after that.

Good choices, those.

Somebody once said you'll never play five games better this year than Brothers: ToTs. That was a long time ago, but the statement may still be true. Hope you enjoy it: I think it's unique, and very well-made.

Also, preference is personal, and while I can appreciate Replicant, Automata is on my short list of the greatest games ever made. Maybe it just hit at the right time, but it's just so....me (and ~8M others).

I never tire of going back every once and a while and reading/watching a new essay about it, as it's so many things to so many different people, and I love that about it so very much.

Also, music. Pick any you'd like, not just the titular one, and you could call them that thing.

There's just so much universal art/expression not only in, but because of that game (not just the lewds or personal convictions triggered by it) that it warms my heart so many 'get it' in their own way.

_________________

As for me, I just put in my (many) hours into TSSKTJL, as I said I would in a different thread: currently Crisis level 200; obviously got the plat.

I'm taking a break until the DLC(s), and hope I enjoy them. While I think they will bring hours of enjoyment, the overarching plot (perhaps wrt DC in general) is what's potentially unique and exciting to me.

I thought the campaign was better than most-anyone gave it credit, but that's an argument for another day when I feel like 'fighting' against a ton of people whom opinions I respect, which right now I don't. I am certainly biased toward those type of games having put 3000+/1000+ hours into Destiny/Division as well as Outriders, etc. They're wonderful value/distraction, and can be much more than that. This could be that too, eventually, as well as potentially doing something no other game could if they play their (and perhaps Gunn's) cards a certain way (which they may). To me, that (potential) is fascinating.

They could/may transmedia harder than anyone has ever transmedia'ed before, and that gives me hope for the future, to borrow a phrase, and one could never say the source wouldn't be ironic.

I think that would be righteously fitting (if you know his background [and context of his sitch]), and very much in-tune with how I believe he thinks, but I'm keeping my hopes in check.

I still dislike the name on the box (which I think hurt sales), and dislike how many went about covering it (which unfairly hurt sales), but I personally feel I've gotten and will get my money's worth from it.

Other people probably have/will too, even if they don't play it.

Rocksteady appear good people whom have a plan and are fixing the early issues these games all have. Given my lack of problems, and the potential for what may come, can't ask for more than that.

Maybe less assholes on Youtube (No, not you, guy that is gracious but simply didn't like it; I'm talking people that create hurtful controversy for clicks), but that, more than anything, is a pipe dream.

Thankfully, they'll bugger off to judge some other type of game they don't play/enjoy, but I'm sure they'll be back to report on it if it does ever make any (DCU) news; psyched and positive, I'm sure.

I'm currently playing MoHAA. Perfect old game.
You need to force AF in control panel you can see the wall texture near the end there and ground texture is blurred. Love MoHAA btw I played it religiously back in the day I still remember some of the enemies especially in sniper town and sniper forest :D

Cleared the love hotel boss in Persona 3 Reload. Have to say that Merciless is nowhere near a walk in the park like Merciless from P5R but I'm enjoying it. In P5R if you knew what you were doing you could wipe everyone in 2 or 3 moves tops cause modifiers were increased for both you and the enemies. Here you actually deal less damage vs normal difficulty while enemies deal more damage (60% vs 170%.) You can't carry your NG+ save data to start Merciless but as I'm doing my first run on it I'll just have tanks for second play through on Hard.

Yea it is on Epic settings tho it doesn't really matter, enabling Nvidia Reflex on+Boost helps a little but it still stutters at the worst timings possible. 'game is installed on my NVMe'

Those spikes on my frametime bar, yeah those I can feel every time and its not nice in a game like this especially since yea the controls aint the best to begin with.
Tried Full screen/Borderless sync off/on its makes no difference on my end.
Apparently there is a 5 pages long topic about this issue on Steam ever since the launch of the game with all kind of high-end hardware.
I gave Dakar a go too and it's a gorgeous looking game, but what a shame about the controls. Luke Reilly's review on IGN summed it up - cars and bikes are almost impossible to control, whereas trucks seem to go fine. That's my experience so far. Added to which, I can't rebind the A key. I always use A and Z for racing sims - accelerate/brake - but it's odd that I can rebind with Z but not with A. Maybe there's a config file....I'll take a look.
I shouldn't complain about a free game, but come on! Sabre, according to the millionth post on Steam, is no longer supporting the game. Wtf? It was only released in October 2022 ffs! They apparently released a 1.3 fix for the steering and then broke it again with fix 1.4.
Does anyone have any tips for this?
Edit:
I'm going to try one of the fixes mentioned in this Steam discussion post and report back.

I'm interleaving sessions of Sleeping Dogs (aka Hong Kong Hustle, which I never got to play the DLCs on the Definitive Edition) and GRID Legends (which I didn't even know I had on EA).
Apart from my rig getting really stuffy, some great gaming to be had. Nothing like playing old games better on newer hardware.
Sleeping Dogs (A john Woo) Hong Kong Style Game. So sweet and 90% uplift with Crossfire. Gris Legends is so fun because the vehicle has the physics of a dune buggy with tremendous front end torque. The story is cool enough to finish in a weekend.

Im about to play Robocop, it looks faithful to the film so im going to give it a go. I'll hopefully have some decent screen shots to share... Streaming it now on youtube, zencontrollers my user name there.
I havnt applied ads and theres a load of good games on their. If you ever want to check out a game to see if its decent have a look at my list. I think ive streamed around 55games so far. But I have no subscribers. Chats on but I cant see it lol... Anyway off to game. I remember watching this as a kid, the ads of Robocop walking down the hall and the sound of his foot steps.

I'll be back....

Would not be the first time something like this has been true.

I have to correct myself, I logged in and looked and I have 47 titles in my GOG wishlist. Still, it's a farcry from 1000+. More power to you though, didn't intend any offense.

I intend to trim it down to about half that soon, lot of it was just impulse adds that my friends were doing, some of it is also DLC too. I already cut out all the mostly negative and negative reviewed games, ain't no one got time for that. lol

Anything made by Sony Publishing is on my wish list, so glad they brought console games to PC. Yeah, looking now I already seen ten of these overwhelming positive indie games I can remove, not because they probably aren't good games, just not into that.

some of my wish list, also I just added Lost Epoch to my wish list cause I like that genre and the reviews + @Sithaer convinced me

My wish list is relatively small something like 10-20 games typically. If there is a game not on my list on a really appealing deal I might pick it up on a few occasions, but it's generally not the case. Chances are if it wasn't on my list I wasn't particularly set on getting it anyway over the other handful of games on the list.

Finally finished the Lies of P. That was a ride with ups and downs. But overall... good. I'd give it 7.5/10.

I love souls-likes so I'm mostly comparing them with each other anytime I play one but unlike many souls-like, in this game story was actually there and easy to follow yet still a little vague so you get to chase clues and characters around to learn more. It was a good balance and I really liked it. Story itself was alright and the world building was good. It was a blind playthrough so I probably missed many things but I liked the way they implemented decisions. It helped me to take the game more seriously. I don't even know if decisions actually mattered in the game but it felt like that which is the most important thing :D

Gameplay-wise it was a mixed bag. Obvious problem was that it doesn't really have anything new in it. It was more of an amalgamation of every from software games which wouldn't be too bad if they mixed them well but that wasn't the case really. It looks like they tried to make dodging, guarding and parrying equally important in combat but it didn't really work. Overall combat experience was confusing. Enemies looking like each other didn't help that either. And general lack of enemy variety made me run past most of the things in later parts of the game. I also felt weird difficulty spikes in two places in the playthrough. Which was weird because the rest of the game felt balanced. It felt like I skipped a part and jumped ahead but it shouldn't be possible since (I think) it is very linear.

Graphics was alright. Not jaw dropping but fine. World was a little repetitive but at least it ran pretty good. It was one of the games you could say that it was on Unreal Engine just by looking. It doesn't really stand out a lot.

Still, I'm looking forward to sequel. World itself is interesting enough to make me want to play more.

I tried Dune: Spice Wars but it just isn't C&C :D
That being said I tried but felt I needed a manual which I don't like.

I have 34 on my wish list, and 98 installed locally, with 2.14TB free on my steam drive(SN850X 4TB) i think i did not need such a big drive for steam but 'shrug'

Been playing dragon quest builders for a couple of days now, enjoying it. I do think it is probably not going to last that long though as i don't know if it has a lot of longevity

Looking for something to play on gamepass and this appears:

1708425013943.png

Installed just by curiosity how it runs on 4070 and I cant believe how smooth this game is now:eek:

The first remaster runned very bad and the second slight better, tested a good time ago with my ex 1080ti. The cpu usage was a joke in Crysis 1 but in Crysis 3 I can see sometimes over 60% and gpu always heavy loaded.

Played for 1h and it tasted somehow like RE7, some textures is just WOW (characters mainly) and others a really WTF.... I will give anoter try for this game, was a very good and fun one hour gameplay for sure!

Enter Pacific Drive! This is the demo but so far I like it. Eerie as fuck but luckily no psy-dogs
My car looks and drives likes shit, and is slow too but the music is great. The UI is a bit clunky but so far I haven't killed myself...yet.
Game will release on the 22nd for €26,99 (steam) so I will nab it then. (10% off till 29th)

I ended up not liking the game. I really liked another guys playthrough. But must not of been in the mood for it. It felt a bit too dry... Glad to see someone making an effort with that IP though. Then Ive gone to replay cyberpunk to stream the DLC and wasnt happy with that either. Getting picky in my old age...

Heres a scn shot of Ricky Hatton getting the knock out in Undisputed...

so many good games, we live in a golden age of gaming imo :D

True that, sir.

FWIW, drop what you're doing and go play Journey. Just do it. Given your 2013 GOTY, you owe it to yourself to go through it. They're a beautiful duet.

Journey is one of those things I place on my shelf next to Sayonara Wild Hearts as transcendent medium-defining experiences, yet neither take much time to understand why we're so lucky to have those creators.

Man reminisces for a while about the last decade or so; respects someone whom thought to add Brothers to that list.

There are just so many it would be wonderful if more people had the chance (or patience?) to experience: Her Story, Pentiment...
I tried Dune: Spice Wars but it just isn't C&C :D
That being said I tried but felt I needed a manual which I don't like.

There's just no substitute for Tanya. Many have tried, none have succeeded. :)

There's always FTL; I don't know if that would be your thing or not (or maybe you've already played it)?

Curious if you end up enjoying WAU; could end up having some cultural staying-power (given the sequel/dev story) in the long run, so may be worth finishing if you want to be an OG. :)
I haven't played it myself, but I know that many enjoyed it a great deal. Also, many did not enjoy it. It's always interesting to hear a new take and have greater context to peoples' feelings about it.

_____

I loved TR13 and Rise; I appreciate Crystal D a great amount. The third one was not great imho, don't think it was Eidos forte' imho, but I'm super-pumped for the upcoming next UE5 CD game.

There was something special about playing TR13 maxed out on a PC (Nixxes port before they got bought), especially before (stuff happened we don't need to talk about) it came to consoles.

Also plus points for The Descent (okay, okay, probably Apocalypse Now/Heart of Darkness) reference in that OG game.

I'm sure the new one will be quite the looker for those with a powerful PC. Hopefully they find another group as talented as Nixxes or Bluepoint (which Sony bought both) to work on it, if need-be.

_____

Man, DMC5....I love "Character Action" games sooo much, but I really had to push to get through that one, personally. It's one of the reasons I'm excited for Stellar Blade, I'm hoping it will cleanse the palate.

DMC5 made me appreciate when Ninja Theory jammed They Live (and conceivably anti-Big Beverage marketing propaganda) into a game and called it a reboot for the franchise. (Yeah, that happened.)

'The out-of-context "not in a million years" part fucked 'em, though. Many people are hilariously petty and fickle wrt games, which remains true today (and has gotten even worse with some recent releases).

It may be revisionist history, but that game(play) was solid. The story was heinous and disgusting imho (I think NT's writing is just a little too crude intense for me), but man, they were good at the genre.

It's one of those weird things that makes me laugh...Remember when Capcom said they were going to farm out IP because it was cheaper, got pissed the game sold the exact same as every other DMC game, took it back in-house, and then made a worse sequel? Yeah, I know (most) peeps don't remember that. Still funny though, and I suppose we got Hellblade out of it instead of a sequel, so there's that.

What I don't get is why doesn't somebody just straight-up buy the rights to make a game based upon VERSUS? The world may never know.
