Why is no support for DLSS listed as a con when AMD literally has no control/ability to support said feature? I get the idea behind a comment about support, but it being a con when it’s closed ecosystem doesn’t make sense/is redundant/is obvious.

There's also the issue of not mentioning it as a con anywhere in Intel GPU reviews. In fact FSR is so gross it's not worth mentioning in the pros like XeSS.

In the context of a high-end card like the GRE, lack of DLSS is serious .. and yes, AMD can do something about it, it's actually pretty easy: Make a better upscaler and bring it into more games, so people say "I want to buy an AMD card because it has the best upscaler and while it works on all hardware from all vendors, it works best on native AMD hardware i.e. runs better than on NVIDIA".

Without upscaling, the 7900XT gets 70 fps, considerably less than half of what you claim, and no GPU in existence is even close to what you claim. The upcoming RTX 5090, maybe.

@Wizzard - If the real gains for the GRE come from memory overclocking, do you have any power consumption numbers (not exhaustive, full test numbers) but just a ballpark for the GRE with a VRAM overclock but a core undervolt to bring efficiency up?

7800XT can be tuned to meet stock performance at about 200W, I could be tempted to buy and recommend a GRE but only if that performance is available without an almost 300W power draw.

Well, I could argue that you can get much bigger variations than 200% by measuring fps in different areas. HUB probably chooses the heaviest possible point to test.

Please change 'No support for DLSS' in the cons to 'FSR not as good as competing solutions such as DLSS and XeSS.' AMD cannot solve your 'con' because DLSS is a proprietary solution owned by Nvidia. Any attempt for AMD to implement it without permission/license would lead to a lawsuit.

How do you solve a con when it is illegal to do so? You might as well say 'Not an Nvidia card' in the cons column.

A valid point but their 1440p Ultra numbers are pretty close to my own experience after 100+ hours halfway into my second playthrough, and pretty close to W1zzard's own custom test scene. That's three sources that agree without me even doing a second google search.

There are comparisons at out-of-the-box settings (with wattage numbers included) so you can calculate OC performance for yourself since they don't really differ much in OC capabilities.

Ok, everyone let me apologize for what I am saying. I just ran the Game using AMD overlay and MSI afterburner at the same time. Unfortunately I cannot get AMD Overlay to display in the recording. What it establishes is that we are all right. MSI Afterburner consistently shows half to two thirds the FPS that AMD Overlay shows. With MSI I was showing a max of about 65-70 FPS and with Overlay up to 140 FPS.

Just to add what the others said .. OC gains require you to set the power limit to +15%, which means power consumption goes up by 15%, no matter the actual clock settings, because the GPU will cap power consumption at that limit. 15% more heat won't have much of an effect on heat&noise, but it will increase power consumption of course. If you are concerned with power, then it might actually make sense to lower the power limit, pay a small performance price but gain some efficiency

I'd rather just decrease the max frequency by ~50 MHz and undervolt it as heavily as it's possible. With other RDNA3 GPUs, the sweet spot is farther away at ~150 MHz below the original settings. There's no need to adjust the power limit because you already are getting rid of most of that by UC/UV.

To BE fair, the here shown OC is complete unrealistic. Its only good in Timespy but No real indication of beeing Game stable. A more realistic scenario is probably 2400-2450 MHz Mem OC and 2600-2700 MHz Core clock. That should net You in Games around 10% FPS...and Not 16% as here shown.
You can run the Card slightly faster as Stock at 210~ Watts. With a good UV 970 mV -15% Power, 2200 MHz core clock and 2416 Mem + fast timings.
With this setting i reached about 22250 Points in Timespy and ist fully stable in every Game

More guaranteed to work, let's put it that way.
However, a solid bunch o' 7900 GREs have proved capable of 2700+ MHz core / 2450 + MHz VRAM. I'm also yet to see a 7900 GRE that stopped VRAM OCing in between 2450 and 2550 MHz. It's either "won't do 2451" or "will do 2551."

My GRE does very well in OC, ITS basically hold back by ITS Power Limit. Im running a Pulse. In Timespy is 2600 MHz Mem. Achievable, but Games dont Like that

Yes but some 7900 GREs have their VRAM modules unstable at 2450+ MHz. 2620s isn't a given.
