Man the Hashira training arc has been nothing but a filler so far from the 1st 4 episodes.

Kaiju No. 8

Kaiju No. 8 has a nostalgic artstyle for me, and is well written. Its a strong season filled with lots of good anime, but I'd push people to give it a try.

It reminds me of Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood's style, where a lot of overly-cartoon graphics punctuate scenes to help provide comedic relief to tougher subjects. Its a crappy world where Kaiju attacks are regularly messing up city blocks... but the various characters are very optimistic... cheerful even... and dutiful with even the mundane job of cleanup of all the Kaiju guts that litter the city. (Though the main character complains about these cleanup jobs, he's quite good at it).

The fight scenes remind me of Attack on Titan: relatively small humans using personal equipment as a team to fight vs large Kaiju.

Overall plot is Shonen like (ex: My Hero Academia) with the clear first arc aiming at the "Test" to join the Kaiju Defense Force. And the Test serves as an introduction to the politics / powers / equipment of the world.

It is training, so I'm not expecting much for the first few episodes. I'm guessing the meat and potatoes starts once he reaches the Snake and Sound Hashira since they were the ones who encountered the Infinity Castle.

That is true I guess, a very steady build up to the final arc I guess.
The hidden sword village was a steady build up as well.
In other news though blue lock season 2 scheduled for October.

Weirdly I thought they went bankrupt or disappeared after End of Evangelion, I watched Gurren Lagann not realising it was produced by Gainax lol.

This was the last thing they produced that really moved the needle and I forgot how long ago that came out.

Hate to see it after so many genre defining shows. After Gurren Lagann in 2007 they kinda fell into a rut of spinoffs and low-effort shows. IMO Panty & Stocking failing put a permanent end to them trying anything new and then it doesn't look like they've even made anything since 2017. The creative minds of their studio moving to Studio Trigger in 2011 and then many core animators moving to other studios after that probably dealt the final blow.

I had a humorous thought the other day.
I noted many have seen and apparently have gotten "Tired" of a certain kind of anime, namely those that are based on what's called "Isekai", a genre of anime.
They say since it started it's been done to death and probrably has been. It's not ususual to see such a wagon piled onto when it's successful to the point the wheels come right off, that just how it goes sometimes with the typical tropes of it being repeated over and over and over and over...... Again.

Yeah, I'd have to say if that's the case it would get old quick and stifle any real creativity over it as in something new about it.

Well, here's my thought:
One thing about is in HOW a character gets "Isekai'ed" and it typically happens in one of two, maybe three ways..... One of them being about "The Truck" or as some call it, Truck-Kun.
So.... Why not have a series about a character (Chosen one?)/group trying to put a stop to it all.....

And just call it "Truck-Kun".

You know - Them/They go around hunting this elusive truck, trying to stop it but the truck just keeps on doing it's thing, splatting random characters anywhere and everywhere to elsewhere in some strange/weird ways seemingly at will, only to disappear as quickly as it appeared.

The cops can't find it so it's up to the character or group to try and track it down.
Doesn't really matter if it has re-enforced (Magical?) tires to keep tire spikes from stopping it, or maybe someone trying to ram it with another vehicle because it's been re-enforced somehow (Plot armor?).

I mean you know it has to have the stats to resist such an attack (And why not), making it a real challenge to slow down, much less stop.
Could be anything from Sci-Fi to outright medivial weaponry of magical means used to try and stop it.... But the truck just keeps on rollin over whoever gets in it's way while possibly countering with it's own array of weapons, characters/monsters coming out the back of it (It is a truck you know) or from wherever.

And of course you have the occasional losses to it (Isekai-style no less) so the characters hunting it run the risk of getting isekai'ed themselves while trying to put an end to the madness and just carry on with their lives too.

OK - Hope you enjoyed the laugh provided here BUT think about it for a sec..... Why hasn't anyone thought of it before?
Sometimes a series or movie that makes fun of itself (Like Spaceballs) really succeeds and may even become a classic one day.

If it ever happens, here's proof I came up with the concept (Post draft before posting this proper) and be sure all royalty checks are made out properly to me in full or I'll track you down with a truck and you know where that leads to. :D

That's one of the things about it and others like it too.
It seems everyone gets "trapped" in a certain circle or mode of thinking when making these instead of trying to deviate to something different that would freshen things up a bit. Makers of these from what I've seen always tend to follow certain things about it as a standard/norm but that also gets old quickly if constantly repeated time and time again.
It's a form of regurgitating what was done before and like bread, what was good when it was new gets stale to even just "Ugh" over time if nothing further is done to that end.

You know:
Like a steak that's been left on the grill for too long.... Overdone, tough to digest and the taste is not appealing.
Time to toss another on the grill, get it right or just forget it.

The only modern "isekai" i've enjoyed was the 2 SAO Progressive movie, I have 0 motivation to even bother with the genre.
There has been a bit of a resurgence on mecha anime but again, they don't look that appealing to me.

Not going to lie, I think i'll be going to the cinema to watch the 3 part Infinity castle arc for Demon slayer after that finale to the Training arc.
I haven't been hyped to see another anime movie in cinema since Gundam seed freedom.

I still think Michael Bay shadow-directed episode 8 of the Hashira arc. That was a spectacle.

Suicide Squad Isekai delivers on its promise.

It's Anime Suicide Squad stuck in an Isekai storyline. Not much else to say. You'll know if you'll like this before even watching it (or if you think Isekai is a tired trope: you should probably stay away)

I wouldn't say I'm the biggest fan of anything anime, but speaking of isekai, i just looked up the translation. I am watching 1 called Mushoku Tensei, it held my interest because of the seriousness and comical, light heartedness at times. I am a "dubber" and am waiting for episodes after the death of the main character's father at the hands of a hydra beast. It's interesting how it originally started as a light novel, became a manga after then an anime. It doesn't mean I could watch others in the "transported to another world genre though" I would like to See a Prequel of the Series that ties to the green haired demon Rugerd's background to flesh him out, he seems to be I would say a bad ass.

To the martial arts/super powers...

Dragon Ball Super gives me mixed signals, If anything with Akira Toriyama having passed away a few months ago, new material will be difficult to create, also it saddens me that the series couldn't be revised into the handdrawn style that was from 1989-1996 of Dragon Ball Z, then hire Bruce Falconer to do the Soundtrack, which made anime explode in the US in 1998. It seems many studios got lazy and sometimes the animation styles were sloppy like they were at times in Gurren Lagan, Naruto/Shippuden, or Macromedia Flash like Pokemon.

I just finished watching Frieren, it's quite worthy of being the most popular anime this past season - haven't watched a good one such as this in a very long time. Unfortunately it's far too time-compressed (the story has potential for easily 100 episodes but it's only 28 episodes - and we're in the middle of the 12-ep format fever, the worst plague to ever come upon anime) and ends in a cliffhanger. I want a season 2 so bad. Hopefully it'll become a thing sooner rather than later.

The last few I watched were Rurouni Kenshin (including prelude and epilogues - man what a sad end), Frieren and Demon King Academy Part 2 (both cours), I'm looking forward to this but it will only start next year:

"I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level Season 2"

My biggest wishes right now are for a second season of both "The Journey of Elaina" and Frieren, though

There's definitely going to be a season 2. There's way too much praise/interest for there not to be.

Currently watching:
Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian
My Hero Academia
Tower of God
Wistoria: Wand and Sword
Oshi No Ko

Plan to watch:
Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou
Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen
Ao no Exorcist: Yuki no Hate-hen
Maou 2099
DanMachi
Hitoribocchi no Isekai Kouryaku
Overlord: Sei Oukoku-hen
Party kara Tsuihou sareta Sono Chiyushi, Jitsu wa Saikyou ni Tsuki

No guarantees that I'll watch entirety of all of those, but I'll at least check them all out.

I've been considering the new Rurouni kenshin anime. I still need to watch the live movie 2 and 3 I think I got left to watch?

That's quite a list.
Also from the news the first voice actress for Misty and Jessie from Pokémon passed away.
