So the verdict is that this benchmark prefers latency, atleast for my current X3D setup :)
Nice run!!

Seems like canned benchmarks and fps/moba games with "smaller" maps prefer latency while open world games with larger maps favour bandwidth more, from my experience that is.

BTW, apparently you'll get better results with hags off and ht off. I will test that sometime next week when my schedule clears up. Most likely re-bar off as well.

Meh this benchmark does not use the 3D cache, it runs on the frequency cores and no way to use Xbox gamebar to force it into gamemode

I think Dawntrail is getting a big update and a new benchmark in a month or two, I think Yoshi P confirmed some graphical issues, so who knows, but AMD might get some love before launch date, we know this benchmark is outdated and being replaced soon though, he already confirmed that.

so in a lot of ways this thread is already dead/outdated/not accurate

Took a run with the CPU bound config like some are running. Pretty much no GPU dependence with the 4090.

Can't you just turn off the frequency CCD or use Process Lasso?

My 3 year old rig.
I have a 5800X3D and new ram that I bought last year but never got around to installing. Maybe I should, or is it time to move on to AM5?

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
lots of background soft running but i don't think it matter much : 5800X3D, RX 7900 XTX @1620p (also running it from my Ext SSD, Sandisk Extreme V2 4tb :p )

1080p run for fun

almost 41k pts in laptop 1080p...
eh... that game use Nvidia Gamework and RTX, well it runs quite good on AMD setups, so i will not complain

almost interested in re starting FFXIV ... played about 500ish hours from ARR to HW ... and then stopped ... but only if i can get the outfit in the bench (which is the Leonheart outfit, related to my oldest IRL/IG nickname, Squall  ) on a Hrothgar, since i suspect it was a limited run/cameo ... no real hope

Ok, installed the 5800x3d and ram, dusted off the case and filters. First run after booting the new stuff.
Screenshot 2024-05-05 192704.png

2000 points and +20 on minimum frame rate, not bad. Now let's see how Limsa looks.
I didn't do anything with the bios or Ryzen Master. I'm assuming it's all running properly.

Changing the cpu reset the bios. Here's a run with XMP profile 1 and ReBar enabled.

Limsa last night ran ~100-130 fps, a major improvement.

I'm having very low performance on 1440p with a 5800x3D/1080Ti in the benchmark especially compared to my results in the Endwalker benchmark or in-game, does anyone have any idea why could that be?

For reference I'm getting ~10600 on 1440p maximum (~75fps average/36fps lowest) and I've seen people with much older Ryzen chip achieve the same or slightly better FPS than I do so I'm really lost.

See just how well FINAL FANTASY XIV will run on your computer. This official benchmark software uses actual maps and playable characters to assign a score to your PC and rate its performance. A character creation tool is also included, allowing you to view a playable character as they will appear in-game.

Graphical Update

Ahead of the release of FINAL FANTASY XIV: Dawntrail, the benchmark allows players to experience a portion of the upcoming visual enhancements featured in the game's first graphical update.

The key aims of the first graphical update and the subsequent planned incremental improvements are listed below:

1. Enhancing screen-wide aesthetic appeal
2. Enhancing texture and shadow resolution
3. Improving material qualities
4. Preserving the existing style

Enhancements to characters, backgrounds, and other visual elements can be seen during the benchmark cutscenes and while using the included character creation tool.

I wanted to check the performance of DXVK, but it shrinks the window differently

My Titan Xp (roughly equivalent to your 1080 ti) system scores similarly, though paired with a 10700K. DT includes a graphics update, so I think it's a lil more GPU-bound than EW. FFXIV also doesn't really scale with CPU resources very much past a certain point AFAIK, so I'm not surprised older Ryzens are level with yours.

Dawntrail Bnechmark 1.1 is now out. Lot of updates over previous benchmark... here is my 1.1 score:

its 1440p maximum, but with FSR cause I couldn't figure out how to turn off FSR... eh...

moving forward this thread should probably only use 1.1 benchmark scores, just my two cents.

official download for 1.1 benchmark

yeah, FFXIV really loves that Intel cpu, gamersnexus does benchmarks for FFXIV with every new cpu release, and FFXIV heavily favors Intel. I just hope when the actual game comes out we can turn off upscaling FSR, because I would like to play at Native AA.

or likely just because the higher IPC on single threaded workload on Intel..just a bit of a hunch..

Basically do you need stuff loaded to perform at low latency versus load more stuff at once and capacity dictates how much you can load at once a what quality in no small part. Crowded scenes with tons of objects area where bandwidth and capacity matter more heavily, but will still benefit a lot from low latency of course that's increasingly more challenging given the extra complexity.

As far as CPU it's probably just ST and clock speed advantage maybe a bit of MT depending on how thread heavy the game is and also depending on how much SMT/HT impacts the game as well. AMD does well in scenario's where SMT really work well like decompression.

I'm not sure about this actually, if you go look at gamersnexus 14900k/14700k review for example, even between those two cpu's, FFXIV at 1440p gains fps going to 14900k from 14700k, and a decent amount of fps. FFXIV loves cores, the more the better, and it particularly love Intel cores, not that it really matters since the game is so easy to run anyway, but its one of the few games that favors intel heavily.

For your setup, an upgrade to a 3700X would give you a solid boost without a serious hit to the wallet. The limiting factor for that system is the RX580. It's a bit long in the tooth at this point. An RX5600, for example, would leave it in the dust and is at a good price point currently.
