If ever Linux like Ubuntu or other could have replaced windows after Win7 (home users, nobody cares at work, it's not "their's PC), MS wouldn't be doing their OS liker they're doing right now.

I'm sure nobody knows LTSC exists and buy the retail full of **** version, not lol.

It’s a chicken and egg situation. OS adoption is driven by software support, ease of use and, quite importantly, perception formed by mindshare. A decade and a half ago, which is a time you are describing, Linux sucked majorly at all three. Nowadays, support for software is better and even usability is up, but, well, I’ve said it repeatedly that the Linux community and their incessant need to constantly keep everything as decentralized and fractured as possible is the reason Linux is not taking off on desktop. So far, to make something actually mainstream out of Linux required a big company to come in and shape it to their purposes. I am talking, of course, about Android and, nowadays, Steam OS. Linux is only viable for gaming today because Valve poured resources into making it so.

A good reason is enough to skip legals. To get/use LTSC over standard (standard !?! no, it's something else) is only a choice made only for good reasons, entirely and at all levels, so much so that no legality should be able to stand in the way.

Sad, bc the the richest person in the world is Windows's company owner, and he doesn't skimp when it comes to giving a damn about users.

…is this the 90s? Gates is not the richest person in the world, hasn’t been for a while, and he also had no real impact on MS direction since… well, depends on who you ask, but he wasn’t the CEO since 2000, wasn’t in a significant position since 2008, straight up stepped down from any managerial position in 2014 and since… 2020, I think?… isn’t even at MS in any shape or form.
What I am saying, I guess, that MS is acting like they do because they are MS, not because of any one person.

Sorry, but we cannot do that. Let us not degrade ourselves to their level. Seconds it may be more lax at some countries, but still you have to obey the law. They did the job, you have to pay them.

I don't give a damn as I am on Linux at home, but at work I have no choice. W11 will not be certified ever either way for most companies that has strategic meaning. It will be a popcorn time. W11 so far looks like another Vista moment with AI grease all over to slip over the cliff.

We can stay in legality if we pay retail and use LTSC, they have their money and we have our OS.

Yes, but it's all about money. Enterprises can't handle a bad OS (not that bad at least), but people accept whatever we give to them, and what we get is a verry bad presented software, noe that enforces his bad presentation by any possible way, every time it's possible somehow. e.g: WAU annoys people every day/month... not everybody is like me flooding the web, a lot do important things and don't need to be submerged by the Operating System

Both are not comparable, really. Vista had issues before its SP that were more fundamental than just UX. Neither 8 or 11 is a FUNDAMENTALLY scuffed OS. Vista… kinda was, for a while. Mind you, it still wasn’t the mind-destroying eldritch abomination that was Millennium.

Windows Update is now significantly less pushy, to be fair. And the alternative would be no Auto-updates. We’ve been there. The average PC user really, REALLY doesn’t want to be without those. MS essentially picked the lesser of two evils here. I am absolutely fine with the current state of affairs that making updates manual requires the user to actually know what he is doing. Casual PC users should be on Auto, no debate here, I think.

One thing intrigues me, how is it possible that an OS receives updates each month the same day of the month (idk if hour could match, but with some efforts), verry strange like if : "no need but we have to do it, it's the rule established and we can't skip it" :p

Oh Vista, it's been very serious.

It’s nothing strange, that’s how MS operated for decades and other software companies also picked up this practice. Out of band emergency updates still go through at any time needed.

You don't know, but : I left the modern world for several years and learned nothing in the meantime, it was Windows 7 and when I came back Windows 10 almost in 1909.

EDIT: oops, forgot the joke, so, an hacker can be in sync with MS and be prepared in the good time to force them to repatch their OS (tomorrow).

I guess corp customers wants this to watch remote employees. Regular customers sure as heck don't. Nice to see who they cater to.

If I can't disable or opt out of using it, I will ditch win11 completely. I literally do not want this junk on my pc.
today it's getting kinda too much anything that you do reported to M$
why they don't leave it as long as their OS not messing up anything, even the update

Start a business and request it via your agreement. Be prepared to buy at least 10.

Going through this now. It does seem to be out and on sale, but god the hoops.

Honestly, I've never felt greymarket keys are any better than piracy, and that's the only other way. Don't do that. Also, don't quote me trying to explain otherwise.

But for a home user it is a no go solution, that's what I tried to say there. They sell it in bulk and for business only.

You are correct! I like my OS install lean, clean, secure and free of ANY crap.

Honestly, I'd be happy with either one.

I can't disagree with preloaded and hard or impossible to uninstall that aren't necessary or very common essentially and unintrusive being a negative as a rule of thumb.

But why in the universe MS never made available correct options panel, like, AeroTweaker or Ultimate Win Tweaker do.
If options exist, let user have easy access instead writing another LEGAL text readme or jail.

And also even questions can come to mind like, Win 11 drag/drop feature not enabled in Win11 taskbar, is it a secutiry feature LOL ? Or is it to look like more like win 3.11 by respect of the olds ones ??

LTSC IoT is the one you want. It has longer support and doesn't have all of the normal Windows 11 requirements.

Here's a table I found somewhere that compares them.

View attachment 352705

++
2GB memory instead 4,
DX 10 instead 12,
SSD SSHD USB SD 16Ggb instead 64gb SSD (lol),
BIOS instead UEFI,

Hell it's too much, retail is just full full lies by paid liars.

Linux Mint 22 comes out next month, just saying folks. That's where I am going.
Just a reminder:

The people over at M$ hate their customers.
Why does it mean they hate their customers? Automatically backing up important bits of a profile is not a negative for an average computer user. As an enthusiast or power user you may dislike it but the functionality definitely has its place.

Linux Mint 22 comes out next month, just saying folks. That's where I am going.
I'm still on 10, but after support ends I have been eyeing Zorin OS.

It's too bad MS wouldn't take LTSC or LTSC IoT and rebrand one and call it a gamer version and just charge pro price + $50 for the gaming tag, be fine by me.
