Post your 7-Zip v22.01 scores

Does the version matter anymore? OP stated 22.01.

why Dual Channel RAM only on Xeons? I think QUAD would help massively for compressing stuff. :)

LOL from "Atoms" and "efficient AMD" cpus, even Pentium D and Core 2 stuff are way better for this lol

my work pc Dell Optiplex 3020, 7zip 24.07 x64

My two Chinese boards from Ali do not support 4 channel RAM mode. Atom z3735d in the tablet, Amd c50 in the laptop. I would do more tests of different hardware, but I don't have time to put it all together. ,=)

yes I know but I used latest for today bcuz I think like with AIDA64 (you know there is a notice that use latest) it's better to use latest lol

@Vashlak
Nice collection, thanks for taking the time to bench these!

Everyone is welcome to post their scores using any version. However, to keep the charts consistent, I will only include the results obtained with v22.01 64-bit there.

I've done tests on some more equipment in an old post. You can check it out!

I've already added your new results to the charts, editing them on a purposely crippled/underclocked twelve year old FX system :D

CPU: Intel i3 M 370 @ 2.394GHz
Launch date CPU: Q3'10
(very) cheap notebook from Aldi supermarket
It also has an HDD that has been overheated for long periods.
It was probably one of the slowest HDDs at the time.

Software: Void Linux and the 7zip version is 24.07
I wonder if this '7z b' command gives similar results with the windows benchmark. Maybe not.

When I download torrents I never have to use 7zip actually. Often not with other downloads either.
When I use 7zip it is usually only very sporadically and for files smaller than 500 mb that on this super cheap and slow hardware are unpacked quickly.

When I open photos with Viewnior it happens instantaneously without any noticeable delay.
Almost all my apps are very lightweight which makes this toaster quite usable.

Sadly my Thuban is no more, I put it on a different motherboard to give it an easy retirement but apparently that board had other ideas =(

So the processor still "works" back on the original board I was using but it doesn't hold clocks at all anymore - and not really sure if it works fully even at stock now.

So RIP Phenom II X6 1045T- you fought well
:(

Insufficient power phases for the X6?
Have you got a donor board or parts to repair that one?

Don't wanna go too off topic in this thread, so I'll spoiler it.
So the blown up board was just an "extra" I got from an ebay auction where I bought the bundle for the Noctura AM3 brackets. It came with an Athlon II X4 630 also which worked fine - I even played around overclocking it a bit on the board but didn't take any pics.

Unless I'm reading this wrong, it claims support for the X6 so it shouldn't have been anything insta-bad like trying to shove an FX in it. The socket was kinda dirty and had some smutz in it - maybe when I sprayed 91% alcohol in there to try and flush it out I shorted it?

I never even got a first post. First time I pressed power "nothing" happened - which sadly is one of those things you only realize in retrospect was the dead short protection on the PSU triggering. Second attempt "nothing" - unplugged and reseated power connectors to board thinking maybe that. Third attempt got the pop and spark shower. RIP. Sucks too cause it seemed a fun little board for some retro fun.

As for repairing it, it's probably totally doable assuming it's just the blown mosfet (are they even called that anymore?) - it might even work if i just remove the shorted corpse. I'm not versed enough on how the phases are laid out on this board (what was this section powering? CPU_NB?), and I don't really have the rework experience - that said this might be a good starter project ;p

At some point I may try the 1045T in something else, I'm now discovering that the Asus M5A97 R2.0 I was originally torturing the Phenom on kinda... has some definite persona when it comes to it's interpretations of "voltage." With the FX 8310 I threw in here now, yea... she sags a lot ... like a stupid amount. I have 1.525v vCore (which is stupid high) in bios just to get like 1.35v loaded. If i turn on the compensation it doesn't like to boot. Yeeeaaa... in this board's defense, I think it's seen a rough life before I ever had it. The onboard ethernet is dead, and the socket is all chowdered cause someone managed to attempt mounting a processor in it the wrong way... which is how I got a hold the board originally. I unbent all the pins on the FX 8300 he had and swapped him a motherboard - ironically a M5A97 OEM variant that had absolutely no overclocking allowed in the firmware (ASUS M5A97 EVO2/M52BC/DP_MB) - and is unique enough you couldn't crossflash it to anything fun either - but since he had no interest in overclocking it worked out.

The sag is real... the CPU vCore is... yea less than ideal =P

The FX 8310 on the tortured Asus M5A97 R2.0. The VRM's on this mobo smell pretty angry... vCore droops to 1.35'ish (set to 1.525v in bios!). I'm fairly sure 4.7Ghz @ 1.4v would work but the VRM heatsink is already too hot to touch even with a fan on it (yCruncher). I don't want to burn another motherboard this soon ;p

My ASUS TUF F15 i7-11800H, 16+8 GB@3200 RAM - 7zip 24.08

Pretty much running stock 7950x, DDR5-5600 ECC. Running on water with old EK block with offset mounting (about -5mm instead of -7mm do to socket compatibility issues), about 28c ambient, 31c water. Score is probably underperforming a bit in the benchmark due to being set in background priority mode and running a VM at the same time.
