That's an overstatement and a half. RX 6400 is a piece of junk in the world of even worse rubbish. That's what mega small GPU market looks like now. Your best option is a last gen semi-functional heavily cut-down bozo from AMD which is almost useless over the PCI-e below 4.0. Nice! I'd rather buy an 8600G at this point.

How much have you used an RX 6400? How did your testing go? How did your gameplay go?

I never used mine at PCIe 4.0, only at 3.0 and it works very well. Testing games at ultra settings like you see at every tech website and getting 30fps is not the use case for a 6400. It does very well at 1080p medium or performance optimized settings in many games but no you won't be playing Alan Wake 2 on it. And it's at least 20% faster than an 8600g without the need to buy an entire new computer to wrap around it.

Which is the point. You put it in a small older computer with slot power only or a proprietary PSU. There's a better option for full size cases in the 3050 6GB but not everyone has that space. The actual problem with the 6400 is the price, it should be $99 max.

6750 is just on a "refined" node really ; just like the 580 vs 590. Nothing really has changed in regards of configuration, its just a tidy bit amount of "node advantage" but nothing serious. The faster memory is explained because of available chips (faster) during that time. But a good OC'ed 6700XT will beat the 6750XT out of the water.

I really like the whole 6x00 series - purely for the fact we still have morepowertools. Anything above that is locked out.

Well, my 6500 XT overclocks like a dream. 2950 MHz on the core, 2400 on the memory with fast timings enabled. Unfortunately, +15% on top of not much is still not much (it's good for older games, though).
Oh no seems you got a bad card LOL. I got the Gigabyte version of the 3 fan shroud for my first 6500XT. Those 3 fans (once) I fixed it would go as high a 3018 Mhz on the clock and 2450 on the Memory. I bought an Asus Dual 6500XT last Black Friday for my 5900X mining rig as one of the best things about the 6500XT is 2-4 Watts at idle.

I do have one bug with my RX6700XT tho; if i power the PC down, and turn it back on. No screen. But it does boot to windows. If i power the PC down, cut the power completely, turn it back on and followed with starting the PC, i do get screen. So weird. Almost tossed the card for RMA back then.

QFT, they were a poor excuse for even early-'22! Seemed they were only good for riding out "the video card mageddon" of '21, (and early-'22) and that's if you couldn't even get an RX 570, or similar in performance.

Of course, the RX 590 will be better in a lot of situations. I bricked my Navi10 in very-late-December, '21, LOL, and then gave up on trying to get the flasher to see the card, so I used it for parts, to scavenge TIM pads for an eVGA GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB from 2016.

I got the GTX 1060 3 GB on November 5, 2016, IIRC, at a small business that's about to shutdown forever!
They are retiring, according to an announcement on Facebook.

I actually didn't use the GTX 1060 3 GB for a long time, because of the missing-thermal-pad issue, didn't want the card to get damaged, even when it was working fine!

I never used an RX 6400 but I was using an RX 6500 XT for an hour and eventually asked why I am doing it after seeing FPS lower than on my $40 PCI-e plug (aka RX 480). I don't care how power efficient this RX 6400 is because it's not nearly enough even for niche nano PC scenarios. RX 6700 XT is expensive but acceptable. RX 6500 XT and 6400 are both expensive and unacceptable.

RX 590 is both cheaper and better. Of course you don't get anything resembling OK XeSS performance and it's more power hungry but still. RX 6500 XT and RX 6400 should be banned and AMD should be heavily fined for this crime against humanity.
I don't buy used GPUs, especially ones made before or during the mining craze, if I can help it.

It doesn't go any higher because the slider ends there. :ohwell: If the driver wasn't so restricted, I'm sure it could do a lot more.

Edit: This is as high as it goes:

I understand the gripes about performance of the 6500XT but OC does give a good performance boost. There are other advantages like HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4 for 120Hz support and as I mentioned before the power draw on idle is exemplary. As long as 1080P is your focus you will enjoy the card. The RX570 or 1060 will not fully support a 4K VRR 120Hz TV, A 4K 120hz TV does support 1080P output though.

I just had a look - the 6750 XT is currently going for around 300-320 GBP, and the 7700 XT is 400 GBP here in the UK. So the 6750 XT for 400 EUR is a terrible deal.

I decided to test the kryosheet with my 6750xt out of curiosity more than need. With the MPT tool I sometimes have set my 6750xt to use upto 300w which can make the gpu run rather hot. With the kryosheet I have achieved a new personal record with the furmark 1440p benchmark. At least in my testing the kryosheet has exceeded the performance of kryonaught extreme, artic mx-4, and ptm7950. Although results were repeatable, the performance gained is minimal with 2.7% more performance than artic mx-4. There is only so much I can ask from my low end dual slot heatsink.

-8% performance, -33% power draw :D
You can get more efficient if you want to. I have found at 2200mhz and 900mv, my 6750xt is ~60% more efficient than stock and ~13% slower.

That's nice, especially considering that the Kryosheet will never pump out. :)

Well, as you can see, slider can't go lower.
I guess MBT or vBIOS mod is needed to make it go lower ?

To be honest, I didn't look at the screenshots because I was on mobile. Taking another look on desktop, our max undervolt settings are almost the same.
  • My GPU can under volt to 881mv by default while yours gets as low as 912. MPT can improve that but ~15 mv isn't going to be the killer here. MBT could allow less mv but my GPU does not like anything below 900 mv regardless of other settings.
  • I have my max frequency locked to 2200mhz while you have 2280mhz. This is so close. It is only the difference between silicone.
  • I was using different math. You are taking a direct measure of ~33% less power draw. I used timespy performance per watt to to achieve the "60%" more efficient than stock value. I mistook 33% to be less than 60% at face value rather than looking closer.

Hello, a year ago I bought rx 6700 sapphire pulse, everything was fine until a couple of months ago
playing gets a black screen and stuck sound
done everything, and checked psu voltages, temperature, changed memories, changed hard drive, even put a 3060 and it works ok, no problem
rma... and they return the card to me because after testing they do not see any fault in the card....
doom eternal, before entering the menu it already happens, see video

@skiper

Did you try with a Display Port cable as well as a HDMI cable and experience the same problem with both?

If they tested/checked it during RMA and with them it seemed to work fine, any chance you can try the RX 6700 on another pc yourself?

On the software side did you try to reinstall Adrenalin? Could be corrupted drivers as well, as it worked well before.

By the way, running different sized RAM sticks is also not ideal, you can try with one stick at a time.

First of all, I apologize for my English translated with Google, yes, I have tested Dow... driver and many versions, even the pro... after cleaning with ddu, hdmi the same, memory, change location and leave only one module, deactivate xmp. ..as a curious fact, where I bought it they have 6 identical graphics in the outlet... reconditioned....

That does not sound very reassuring, leaves only the option to test the card in another PC. If it fails there it most likely is the card. Then it just have to go for RMA again..:banghead:

Sounds like a faulty GPU core.

thanks, just out of curiosity... when it came from rma the card worked fine... and the doom eternal reached the menu... and I played, but then a black screen in another game and when I went to try the doom I already The screen went black again when I got to the menu to choose a mission, this always happened to me before: Doom Eternal screen, menu black screen... but I repeat, when I came from rma, no... until the negative screen in another game no longer enters Doom (menu). )
