Best Buy gives you 14 days and they don't typically put GPUs up as open box. The clerk guy was telling me they just straight recycle them. Same for their processors. Usually they put Laptops up for sale as open box though. Those might be ok.

Maybe they weren't happy because the card wasn't happy with a bazillion Volts at a hundred thousand MHz. I don't think the shop can disclose anything, and so, there's no way of knowing. It's a pretty scummy thing that they don't want to RMA it, though.
